@@RedBullRally The Dakar people have dropped the ball the last few seasons, with sparse coverage at best. The riders/drivers/sponsors of lower ranked racers get zero coverage. Us viewers wouldn't mind raw footage with no commentary along side of the official broadcast. We just want to see everything we can of the people and machines in the greatest off road race. Shine some light on the teams outside the top 10, I hope you guys make us proud!!

If the oil filter falls off halfway through the stage, the rider knows who was in charge of it so you'd best be doing it properly! 😂

torquing each bolt 3 times made me cringe. No reason for that. You wear out the torque wrenches 3 times us much, and lose time

You need to do everything by the book because you are actually deconstructing and rebuilding the whole bike each day and everything has to work perfectly under extreme conditions. It’s just not worth it to risk anything when you have the torque wrench ready.

Lots of little things to adapt a 450 for rally. So cool. External oil filter, non standard shock reservoir, Cush drive hub, modified airbox. Little things I never knew about rally bikes.

If you look at the lineage of the bikes, they really started with the 950/640 as the base rally bike, then worked to the 690, then to the 450 in the 690 chassis, and finally a 450 perimeter frame based bike. You can see the similarity there between the 950 adventures/690 enduro, and 450 rally still

@@liotier it gets cleaned and reused for the next stage. They switch between 2 or 3 for the whole rally. They don't have the time to clean out the gunk in between one stage.

@@burddog0792 they were switched because KTM was the only team developing a 690 and everyone else was on 450s. It was to bring privateers and the Japanese manufactures back.

Seems almost too much but I'm sure it has to be absolutely perfect at these levels. But with this much servicing it seems there could also be a risk that something doesn't get done correctly and won't work the next day :D That fuel tank/bashplate/cooler design is a work of art.

I think atleast a team of 10 technicians for one bike. & they measure each and everything and torque setting for most of the nuts and bolts , not just visual setting . Shows how the technicians are equal to the riders in getting a victory Loved the video.

This much maintenance on half a endurance race, I mean I get it, but my 04 yami sure never seen this much love. Still hits jumps straight and rips. Don't get me wrong this was still way cool to watch, and makes me wish the maintenance I did do looked this easy. KTM has forever been my dream bike.

lol, factory just rebuilts the bike just as in between stage maintenance, meanwhile the malle moto driver only did the oil change, lubed the chain and says: fuck it, those tires can do another stint and goes marking his next roadbook. awesome vid

Why were the triple clamp bolts torqued before the front axle was installed? I thought the correct procedure is to torque the lower clamp, then put the wheel in, align everything and only then tighten the top.
