The process is much more fun and rewarding than spending a lot of money on the official wands.

absolutely! The snake wand that Lucius Malfoy has is a perfect example - it's possibly the coolest wand in Harry Potter but I can't afford the official one for like $200 yikes! so I set out to make it DIY instead.

Very nice, which one was your favourite!? Is there a reason you use clay in some of your wands? I’m new to wand making (just released a video of my first attempts) and keen to learn more from talented people like you!
@RedCaio3 ай бұрын
thanks :) my fav is probably Sebastian Sallow's wand. I used clay for a couple reasons. carving the wood turned out to be much less fun than I imagined so rather than get thicker dowels and carve the shape out of them, I got thin dowels, carved them to be pointed like a wand, then add the details with clay.
@agreatalternative3 ай бұрын
@@RedCaio Ahh that makes sense, it’s basically the same reason why I used ‘sticks’ as apposed to ‘branches’, much less carving time! Does it have to be a specific type of clay?
@RedCaio3 ай бұрын
@@agreatalternative I've never used clay before but @SuperCraftyListic makes a lot of diy Harry Potter wands and they use DAS brand air dry clay so I bought some cheap air dry clay.

0:00 Dumbledore / Elder Wand DIY This was made a decade ago from a wooden stick I found so I don't have the making-of footage. 0:23 (loosely based on) Bellatrix Lestrange wand DIY Also made from a stick a decade ago. My wife wanted a wand that was curved like Bellatrix's wand, but it's not meant to look just like hers. My wife wanted the =^-^= cat emoticon so I added it. :) 0:36 Draco Malfoy wand DIY Super easy to make, yay :) 1:05 Lucius Malfoy wand DIY This wand was the real reason I started this whole journey. It's possibly the coolest wand in Harry Potter but I can't afford the official one ($200? yikes!) so I set out to make it DIY instead. 1:48 Narcissa Malfoy wand DIY Sorry, I don't understand clay and this was my "first pancake" of clay, lol. oh well. 2:31 Sebastian Sallow wand DIY I re-did the stinking handle like 10 times ahhhh. I couldn't get it to look more like marble but I still love how this turned out. Sebastian forever!!! 3:23 Ominis Gaunt wand DIY I had no intention of making the Ominis wand but I noticed I had an unintentional Slytherin trend going on, so I started making his too and wow I love it! it feels so good to hold too. I did a nearly perfect job on carving the dowel into the the blade of the wand, I'm so proud. 4:05 my Hogwarts Legacy wand DIY This is my wand from Hogwarts Legacy that my MC uses. It's the dark brown version of the "stalk" wand type (same model Professor Weasley uses but hers is off-white) and I chose the "basketweave" wand handle. at first I thought "what a huge handle, no one would choose that one" but then I had my MC try it and it grew on me :) I made mine perhaps a bit too big tho. :P This is the only wand that's a thin dowel and covered in clay. I did that so I could carve the design but it's super duper fragile as a result. One day it'll crumble to pieces I'm sure and I'll just make a new one (or 3d print one?) I don't know lol. I'm very proud of the marble look of the handle tho. :) 5:25 all DIY wands glamor shots 6:02 Bonus: all Official wands glamor shots
