Dear Redcard74, I discovered this wonderful BBC programme quite by accident. I live near Cape Town, SA, and I turned 21 in 1986. I've never been to Britain, unfortunately, but I sooooo enjoy the reconstructions, from the eighties right up to now. I especially enjoy the hairstyles from the 80s.....and not even to mention the famous British humour!! What I also enjoy is that, during the reconstructions, you can hear a bit of music on a radio, or a news bulletin, or see a newspaper heading, to give context. Snippets of Mrs Thatcher, or Gorbachev, even something about pieces of wreckage being found of a South African Airways plane having crashed near Mauritius!! This incident remains one of those "unexplained" crashes... I really love crime programmes (my grandfather, who died when my mom was 10, was a detective.....so I think it goes in the genes). I honestly find the British programmes MUCH better than the American ones. So please continue with you wonderful work! You have a huge fan in Strand, near Cape Town.

Bless you Mr Redcard 74, it seems so weird, yet so good to be able to get new video notifications again, almost a year or so ago, was when I last was getting them, and since then, I think I've "overdosed" on crimewatch uk, from the very 1st episode, up until 2013/14, where the uploads weren't as regular as back in the day, the format and everything had changed, and was no longer anything like it should be, but I have the greatest admiration and thanks to you, Sir Redcard 74, Andy JS, and a few other crimewatch uk providers on KZbin, can't remember their names, but you've really cheered me, am having such an awful day today, hope these will cheer me up, keep up the great work, my friend, its great to have you back again, good evening to everyone, all the regular usuals......😊😊😊👍👍👍

@@ajs41 do you have all the lost episodes from 2001 onwards, as it seems there's some episodes posted up on KZbin, but not all, and there seems to be great gaps in between the years as well, yes the format of the program changed, and to be honest with you, I didn't enjoy it as much as I would've done back in 1986, but it'll be great to see all the episodes

Ace! Saturday night radio1 1999 style. Danny Rampling on the radio at 31:21 which means I know exactly what I was doing when this crime took place! I would have been slapping on the aftershave and gelling the hair getting ready to go out and party. Those days are behind me now but that hearing that took me right back. Ah 1999 I miss you :)

There seems to be a marked increase in incidents on the London Underground network in these late 1990s episodes. I can't remember many at all in earlier episodes. Did they only put in CCTV at tube stations around this time? Seems difficult to believe.

Most of the cctv network on the tube was installed around 1996-1998. There where sporadic cameras in main stations like King’s Cross and Victoria etc from 1990 onwards. The first cctv at a station was Essex rd, Islington 1984

Anyone think it’s sad that crimewatch file finished around this time it did go downhill a bit towards the end. However I would of liked to of seen how some of the crimes were solved like operation lynx

Well they kind of kept CW File alive with How They Caught (but C4 and BBC Two had good crime documentaries at the time to pick up the slack)... As for the show, don't think the rot set in until mid 2000s. Kirsty Young and the unmentionable Jeremy Vine era were the death of it. The reconstructions... the acting... My poor eyes!

Crimewatch file was ace. But they had decent reconstruction film to use in it. What you notice with the later ones were how crappy the reconstructions got. And how they used filler topics. Can't believe that crimes worth reconstructing actually dropped off? Cost saving more likely? Couldn't have been cheap to film them. Vine was awful.
