Another, less table bashing, part pounding, method of getting out a recessed bearing, is to put the shaft into the bearing and and rotate it around in a circular pattern while pulling up ever so slightly. If the bearing was heated and melted into the recess or just made super tight then the "worrying" method might not work and you'll have to resort to beating the crap out of it.

Good tip! I think on 1 scale cars you can put bread in the hole and hammer it, then the barring will pop out
