Mois Family Tech stock gearing. Torque so break the wheels loose at any speed is what you want. I haven’t locked the rear diff in mine, but I’m considering it.

eBay, amazon, your LHS, Asia Tees, RC Mart, just about any 190-200mm body should fit.

this is what I'm getting to start out, same wheels too except I found a skyline body for $20 because honestly redcat stock bodies are pretty ugly

So much want .glad I found your channel .you were helping me on that live earlier .what mods did you have to do to fit the body .I want that body for a redcat lightning str nitro

Zero mods. The only thing I did was use magnetic body mounts. That’s totally optional though.

@@10thScaleGarage I just got the redcat lightning str .just gave it break in but every time I steer it to eather side it never centers back to the middle .I played with the trim some I rechecked all the linkages all those are good I feel like its the sevo but its brand new only have 3 runs in and its getting frustrating please help

Both will fit, but 200mm will fit better the RX7 body you see here is 190, but the R34 body on it now is a 200mm.

You want a 257mm wheelbase body. 195mm wide bodies will fit, but 200mm wide bodies fit better. The RX7 body I have in this car is 195mm wide. It fits, but it’s just a touch narrow. Most 1/10 scale car bodies will fit though.

That body was super cheap! I picked up a couple of them. It has open diffs, but they’re super easy to lock. I locked the diffs of my thunder drift with some hot glue. Worked like a charm.

Legendary Rc for sure, however the thunder drift is belt driven and an overall better drift car. I think it’s only like $15 more expensive and totally worth it. Check out my video on it for a better understanding.

The one I have on there is about as cheap as they get. You might have some luck on eBay, but good bodies under $20 is super hard to find.

Been thinking about buying this. I had a lot of traxxas vehicles and am wondering what the reliability/durability and build quality of this car is? I'm hearing Redcat has come a long way and making some quality vehicles. Any feedback is much appreciated, thanks!

Good question! Redcat has been making this model for quite a while. Lots of other manufacturers make the same chassis as well, so there is great support for it and there are tons of upgrades for it. Quality isn’t as good as my Traxxas 4tec 2.0 but Redcat’s customer service is one of the best in the game. I left this car almost completely stock and never had any issues beyond just minor adjustments. It’s a pretty small investment to find out for yourself!

@@10thScaleGarage Cool thanks for the reply. I had an old Associated tc3 touring car and a tc4, and this chassis looks similar. I'm actually and old skool traxxas fan. I had a few rustlers, a nitro sport and was also debating on a bandit xl-5 for off-road. I was also looking at the 4-tec but I don't like the body choices they come with since I am into Japanese imports. Any suggestions on what bodies fit the 4-tec. Thanks for the reply :)

Bruce Poopy nice! My brother has a 15 year old Traxxas t-Max. That thing is super fun. I had an original 4-Tec back in the day. The 4-tec uses standard touring car bodies. I still run the original body on mine but I like the look of the mustang. It’s pretty well detailed for being a RTR body. The RX7 body on this car will fit the 4-Tec, but it’s just a touch narrow. A 200mm body would fit both chassis better.

@@10thScaleGarage Awesome I was thinking 190mm-200mm would fit. I loved the old 4-tec but never got around to getting one. I ended up with a rustler and by the time I was looking into the 4-tec they discontinued them. I've been around RC the pat 20yrs and looking to getting back into them now in my 30's. Can't believe I waited so long lol. Thanks for your feedback man.

Thank you for this video! I have been considering this versus the Thunder Drift from Redcat. Solid driveshaft vs belt drive. Not too sure. Thoughts? Would you buy it again? Would you get the Thunder Drift instead?

Roadside RC I own the lighting and thunder. (See my RC collection video) the thunder is a way better drift car. The belt drive allows you to over or under gear the front wheels, and the motor sits perpendicular to the chassis (the motor turns the same direction as the wheels) I’ve done a ton of work to the thunder, and it’s amazing. The lightning was almost totally stock and super fun to drive. I love them both but I sold the lightning. I’ll probably keep the thunder forever.

I haven’t had that issue. When I first got the car, the belts weren’t adjusted properly and I shredded one almost immediately. I also lost a grub screw on the stock pinion. I also lost a drive pin for one of the front hubs. Redcat fixed all these issues with absolutely zero hassle. They also sent me a sticker sheet because they’re awesome.
