Pretty cool. I think it’s gunna send a big message to the manufacturers, and cross compatible chassis may bring a new set of people into the hobby.

This chassis sets the record for most broken parts in a normal open track drift night. These things drop like flies at our local events. Broken rear axles and stripped servo horns seem to be a matter of when it will happen not if.

Glad you guys are driving them! It will take time to perfect, but at least the replacement parts are affordable for the inevitable time!

Just picked one up since they were on sale and just ordered a servo horn and aftermarket radio with it. Set your end points and double check the chassis, no issues yet🤷🏻♂️

It’s definetly been great to have a viable 3rd option when selecting your RTR and yet another good option for builders to get more bang for the buck. The cross compatible Yokomo parts just open the doors for me to be more successful with the end product!

@@apismalik not always the case but it didn’t hurt in this case. I’m sure it would shine even better for me if money was no option and I could fit anything I wanted to it, but for now I’m pleasantly surprised on its performance from factory with some slight adjustments to fit our surface and location. Really hope these take off and get a big following. Would love to see some on the podiums this season

I just got into this hobby and your series on the redcat has really helped me with my RDS. I'm looking to make this dif my next upgrade. Were the shims you added the ones the dif comes with? Would you be able to link the bearings used. I can't seem to find 15x10x3. Finally, do you think the RDS needs the drive cup protectors?
@ScaleScience Жыл бұрын
I found the bearings from a bearing company, They are unsealed. I used damper shims from an old team associated short course truck as they were the cheapest option. As for the drive cup protectors, they will be required as the outdrive cups on the clsd diferential are chubby and need the protectors to take up the slack. Heads up, I wouldn’t suggest the clsd until your power upgrade as it’s hard to feel a big difference from stock on the stock powerplant.

@@ScaleScience noted, thank you for the feedback. I'll hold on for now. I'll probably go with the reveD front lower arms first. Was hoping redcat would release their own soon but haven't seen any news. My front was binding really bad. I switched all the ball end cups to some yokomo ones and that helped big time. Still not smooth tho.
@ScaleScience Жыл бұрын
@@ramonvillasenor6396the reve d fronts are an awesome visual and performance upgrade without adding a bunch of weight and still much cheaper then The yok versions. Smooth is definetly what you should keep searching for. If you had to guess is it maybe something binding? I had binding issues with my inner hinge pins so might be worth a look checking on those
@ramonvillasenor6396 Жыл бұрын
@@ScaleScience yeah I think so. I actually sanded the hole on the arms to try and give it more space and applied some lube. It helped a little but I'm hoping with the arm switch it will be better. Your issue with the pins was before your changed the arms or with the reveD arms? I might also need to rebuilt my shocks. I got the big bores but I noticed some oil residue on the bottom of the shock and I'm thinking they might be slowly leaking.

Drifting looks like a lot of fun. I have a dumb question, how come drift cars don’t have locked differentials?
@ScaleScience Жыл бұрын
Some do but on these slippery surfaces, the car demands different performance stabdards. Also, rc cars are scaled in size but not weight so getting them sideways isn’t as difficult. Quite a few drift kits are still sold with fully locked differentials (spools)

The .13-14 ‘Soft’ springs and 4 gears

You have to assemble the whole thing now too. Other then that, same piece. I’m assuming new box so they stack, store and ship easier and more efficiently.

How many guys at the track are actually using this new platform.. and are they enjoying the car.. just curious to see if they (and the crew at scale science) actually like and think the car is worth the money

So far I believe we have 4 locals on them. They are all enjoying though all are at different skill levels so how and what they are working on varies slightly. Overall, still too new to have a massive following but I have a feeling come tax season, you will see a lot more of these rds’s in the wild!
