The younger generations trying to pretend that events of history didn't happen -- or didn't happen the way they actually happened -- is shear idiocy.
@julianmhall
@julianmhall 5 ай бұрын
@anthonyhargis6855 Sadly revisionist history is not an exclusive purview of the young, although I agree it is more prevalent among them. Generally though I think revisionists need to know what /actually/ happened in order to claim it didn't. The young tend to lack /any/ knowledge of the past so it's harder to parrot an alternative if you don't know what the original was. That being said I think from a historical perspective the biggest danger is so-called 'Influencers', such as Freddie Bentley who a few months ago demanded we stop teaching about World War Two because it 'upsets people'. Frankly IMHO if a conflict costing millions of lives /doesn't/ upset you to some degree then there's something wrong with you. However those that cannot think for themselves take such claptrap onboard.
@anthonyhargis6855

@@julianmhall I don't "do" this thing you guys call "Social Media." I don't even keep a cell phone, so "Influencer" is a term I've only heard of, no idea who these people might be. The only one I am familiar with is a guy named Andrew Tate, and that's only because I "googled" him after hearing his name in the media a few times. "Who is this guy?" Of course, I found out that he's really a "nobody," as in, he's no one whose opinion I would give two cents about. So our young -- I'm extremely close to 70 (LOL) -- are simply "rats," who have found their "Pied Pipers." Why they should listen to these "influencers" is a mytery. I blame it on poor parenting. They listen to their idiot teachers, and nonsensical "influencers" even more than they listen to their parents. And that's called "poor parenting." Our children are thus left to educate themselves. I'm very glad I won't be around when they finally do "take power." That's going to be one screwed-up world.

a lot to comment...I am a descendant of English and Scottish and 1 Irish warriors who fought for the land and then the Empire from the middle ages to the later 1800's when we settled in America.I believe thay Britain and America though often arrogant and short sighted attempted to fight for the rights of man' and against tyranny...I love watching your reporting...I would support a membership...not too steep please.. we came here first in the 7 Year's war ...an interesting subject... More power to you. The military career of Lt-Gen. Sir Harry Smith would be most interesting, Peninsular war, War of 1812 with the British capture of Washington DC, South Africa Xhosa frontier War, India including the 'perfect' battle of Aliwal in the Anglo-Sikh Wars, South Africa again, including beating a Boer rebellion at Boomplaats in 1848.

Hey Chris, Wood here. Hey, man, love to see a video done on the battle of Plattsburgh, NY, during the War of 1812. I feel that this battle was the true turning of the tide during the war, and also, I believe this battle played a pivotal role in the war of 1812 and doesn't get enough credit as say the battle of white plains or the burning of DC or the battle of New Orleans does. I grew up just east of Plattsburgh but I was born there and have family there and basically am from there. I love your Channel brother keep up the great work!

Hello from the other side of the world (Southeast Asia). Your videos are indeed reaching younger audiences as well (at least those with a passion for history). As an 18-year old college freshman studying for my bachelor's degree in history, your videos are constant source of sound and entertaining information. Any chance you might cover some of the colonial units like the numerous Bengal and Madras regiments of the EIC as well some combat accounts in South and Southeast Asia (Maratha Wars, Anglo-Burmese Wars, the conquest of the Malay Peninsula with Sir James Brooke and all, the taking of Manila in 1762, and perhaps even the British anti-piracy campaigns in the South China Sea)?

I play a lot of Rome Total War and if I open negotiations with an Ancient British leader he will immediately say "Honour the Gods and your Ancestors!". Sound advice then and now. Good luck in 2024 Chris. If you're not entirely beholden to redcoats then I'd say that a LOT of British early WW2 battles are overlooked. Anything anywhere from 1939-the US entry circa 1942 gets neglected. There's some amazing stories in Ethiopia, Syria, Iraq, North Africa, the BEF in France, etc to talk about.
