Head of Dagestan Sergei Melikov hosted UFC lightweight champ Islam Makhachev and his father, a day after Islam's arrival in his hometown of Makhachkala. As part of the meeting, Melikov handed Makhachev Dagestan's medal of honor, third degree.

They are humble around their leaders and don't make any eye contact with them, but instead look down in reverence. Khabib was humble when he met President Putin, too. This is why these Dagestani fighters are the best: mountain cardio, Avar soldiering epigenetic conditioning a.k.a "warrior bloodline", Soviet wrestling pedigree, and their humility and faith in their belief system. Khabib is the GOAT. Islam is in many respects better because of his superior striking vis a vis Khabib, and cousin Umar is throwing question-mark kicks around better than Luke Rockhold, and is likely the next GOAT. It's almost as if they are trying to create the perfect martial artist at AKA.
