Schwinn Cycling and Fitness done a nice representation of re-issuing in 1998 the 70's coaster Krates of the Orange and Apple and a limited run of the Grape Krate.. Schwinn Bicycle Company never had a "Grape Krate" production model back in the days?. Always that possibility that name could of been brought up?, but never took form.. That other Grape you walked back to to compare the color looks like one of Pacific Cycles mid 2000 purple Stingray that someone made into a Grape Krate. Pacific Cycle done a run in 2020 of the Coal Krate, Apple Krate, Orange Krate and Grape Krate..

@@ReddingCT70 Think what you want to believe. I been collecting Krates and Stingrays since 1982.. Schwinn Cycling and Fitness broke the myth by issuing a limited numbers of the 1999 "Grape Krate". Then after they went into bankrupt as when Pacific Cycles in corporation with Dorcel Inc. bought them out in 2001 and continued on till this very day. "Grape Krate, Koal Krate" were just legendary myths as well as the 1965 Black Stingray.. Just getting the facts straight..

Thanks for sharing your collection. I have a brand new 70 Cotton Picker 5 spd. that has NEVER been ridden with most of the accessorys . Aprox. 25 years ago the tires wouldnt hold air so I replaced the inner tubes other than that It still has paper tags hanging on it . The tires never rolled on cement , only carpet. I dont have a checkerboard rear view mirror or the turn indicators. I made my bike out of a J.C. Higgins frame when I was a kid

@@ReddingCT70 After this weekend Ill have some time to get it out of my bedroom closet and give it the annual wax and polish. When I do I will let you know and maybe you can post the pictures ? After 51 years its time for the bicycle world to see it. The baseball bat holder is still in the box but it has the head light ,speedometer, triple horn, tool pouch, and streamers, the numbers on the neck are DGO 56464. Sincerely T.

Forgive my ignorance but why do they remove the pedals and I have seen many like this.

Not all collectors remove the pedals, But the pedals are the widest part of a bike, and if your lining bikes up in line it gives way for more space. But another reason I do it is to not scratch the bike next to it. I always hang pedals with cable ties, on sissy bar.
