By'tl Solomon Thank you for your comments. I hope the below helps. Title : Dark color oiled full grain leather The most typical leather of Red Wing is dark color oiled leather. Many of them are full grain leathers, which have natural surface from cattle skin. We now introduce how to care the boots with such leathers. That type of leathers is made with rich oil content. When you wear the boots with such leather for long time, the oil of the leather surface starts to dry. It is the time you need to replenish oil to the leather. Let’s start the boot care. Firstly, brush the boots well to remove the dusts and dirt. Brush well around the welt, a strip of the leather between boot upper and sole. The dusts tend to be stuck beneath shoe lace. We recommend that you sometime remove the lace and brush off the dusts beneath the lace. After brushing, remove accumulated dusts using a soft cloth dampened with water. Wipe softly to avoid making scratches on the leather. Then, let the leather completely dry before you move to oiling stage. Red Wing has 2 oil pastes. “All Natural Leather Conditioner” and “Mink Oil”. Both are very good care product for oiled leather. They are very similar in its contents and effect. “All Natural Leather Conditioner” is made from 100% natural ingredients. Apply either oil paste to leather by soft cloth. Apply it to al over the leather. Red Wing Boots Cloth is a very good for the application. You can also use your finger. It is recommended to apply moderate portion of oil. Extend it well evenly over the leather. Too much oil could catch dusts and dirt. Or, it could heighten the risk of molding under hot and humid climate. Once you apply the oil, dry the shoe for 30 to 60 minutes in the shadow. This let oil to penetrate into leather. The last is to rub off the excess oil that remains on the leather. Please do not forget to do it around welt and on the stitching line where excess oil tends to stay. Now the boot care completes. If you want to add luster to the leather, you can use Red Wing Boot Cream and polish the boots.
