I don't know if you have run the water lines yet but you should you pex inside the pvc. It wont burst if it freezes and it is a lot smaller so you could use smaller pvc to run it through.

hey, ty for sharing your experiments with us. i just looked through your uploads and cant find a video on running the electrical wiring inside the earth wall. any updates on that soon? God bless
@RedEarthRanch2 жыл бұрын
We won't be doing that until we get to the main house. We are purposefully running the Electrical on the outside of the walls in the garage and workshop because we want the ability to change it as the shop changes. The basic principle is you use rigid conduit and place it in the forms then ram the earth around it. We will show it when can, sorry for the delay
@stevepailet82583 жыл бұрын
Just a quick comment enjoying the build. Glad to see you using the sire wall version as I had only read about that style of rammed earth. Really curious other than only one form at whatever height you are building, why going to the full height rather than 4 or 5 foot tall forms. For me this would just be far to much weight to deal with every time one needs to move the forms. Did not know if this is just how Sirewall does their builds(along with having 10 man crews to move forms and 20 plus lifts per day.)
@RedEarthRanch3 жыл бұрын
Our forms were 12 feet (the camera can be deceptive at times) and we did them that tall because the total height of the garage was 11.5 feet. We have started in on the shop which is 22 feet tall and we build forms that are 24 feet tall. SIREWALL does things a little different than us for sure because they are doing it at a commercial scale. We are NO WHERE near that scale with just 4 of us working. Believe me...if we had a 10 man crew we would be doing things a little different...and probably faster LOL

Hi Guys , I’ve been rewatching your videos.. learning all the time .. I have a question.. could you tell me what is your mix ratio is .. and does you mix have any clay content? “ KEEP ON TAMPING “
@RedEarthRanch3 жыл бұрын
No clay, it is 3 parts sand to 1 part gravel with a 9-10% cement mixture. This is specific to our material so make sure you get an mix design before building
@ukaszoleksy45743 жыл бұрын
@@RedEarthRanch Did you do some samples with different ratio before and choose the best?

Hey fellow Texan! The foam is 4 in thick poly iso and we got it recycled from a commercial building demo. You can usually find people on Ebay or FB messenger who have some and then piece it out.

Much better looking than concrete though it requires infinitely more patience. Be nice if you could do rammed earth without the earth processing, forming and ramming parts. Might be possible.
@RedEarthRanch3 жыл бұрын
If you find a way to do that I'm all ears LOL
@SpaceCrete3 жыл бұрын
@@RedEarthRanch OK. It would have to be a more-fluid then false-setting mix of course (because pumping and not forming), and combining those properties with the authentic earthen-tamped-layer look and smooth finish would certainly be a real challenge. A more sure method might be to use a conveyor for a more dry mix, combined with very-rapid slip-forming. Would then have to tamp it - then you get back to high form pressure that kills the light slip forming... You're not making this easy! Best of success with it!
