This is really good.. But you guys need to be honest about how there are 4x as many women as men in churches. Particularly among younger people under 40. I've gone to churches for ages and it has been like that. Many women want to marry but no man ever even speaks to them -- even if you don't have high standards (like you just want someone to takes a shower works, and maybe can grunt a hello). You can go out of your way as a woman to be friendly, talk to people, try to form friendships, and volunteer your butt off and no one will ask you out because its a numbers game. Men have a massive advantage. The church (as a whole) does not address this. Many singles do desire marriage, and the church should be the institution that fosters people meeting -yet it doesn't. Really. Also the church as a whole does make singles feel "less than". Even if they don't intend that. Many singles are sidelined. The crazy part is 60% of Americans are single and the number is growing, and it isn't always because people eschew marriage, particularly among women. What if no guys come up that you can give a chance to? I think maybe this something that the church really should address, haven't honestly met someone who actually "likes" being single in the long run. Very rarely you could say its their "calling." But by using the "calling" language it makes it seem as if it is the person's fault for not being "coupled up." Many times it is not (like I said it is a demographics game). Very few Christian men

What about a homosexual man, like myself, who is not drawn to singleness but forced into it because every sexual and romantic thought I've ever had and ever will have is something I have to repent of. How can I stop this soul crushing loneliness I experience every day of my life with no hope of ever getting to spend my life with someone I'm attracted to and love.

Owen and Gavin - here is a quote from a book by the distinguished evangelical Rev. John Stott. I have always respected his views on homosexuality as he lived a chaste life himself so when he is telling you to live a celibate life it's not like someone who is married with three children telling you that when they haven't a clue what you are going through. From 'Issues Facing Christians Today', 3rd edition, p 384 - "in every discussion about homosexuality we must be rigorous in differentiating between this 'being' and 'doing', that is, between a person's identity and activity, sexual preference and sexual practice, constitution and conduct." Owen and Gavin, you are conflating the two. Not only does a homosexual need to avoid all sexual activity, but her also has to somehow miraculously switch off his homosexual orientation and become either heterosexual or asexual. That is setting the bar at s simply impossible level.

I am interested to know how far Rev. Gav would apply complementarity? Would he be happy for hos daughter to play football? do boxing? or are these things only for boys and men?
