Redefining success after 50: what really matters now.

In this vlog, I reflect on how my definition of success has evolved from the constant hustle of my younger years to embracing a slower, more intentional way of living in my 60s.
I used to thrive on multitasking and pushing myself to achieve success in every part of life. But as I've gotten older, something shifted in me. My idea of success isn't what it used to be.
Join me for a candid look at this personal journey as I share what truly matters to me now, why I've stopped feeling the need to “do it all,” and how I'm learning to be more present. This is about slowing down and finding joy in life’s everyday moments.
Welcome to my day in the life, and I hope this video helps you reflect on your own idea of success-no matter your age.✨

My definition of success has totally changed in my 50’s. It is no longer about hustle culture. Now it's about connection, reflection, education, and relaxation.

As I approach my 50th year on this planet, personal success can be described in one word: Autonomy. I’ve finally freed myself from a soul-crushing government career & a series of misaligned relationships. Glad to see you finding your own redefined definition of success as well, Dana. You seem like an empathetic, sweet person and deserve happiness.

The most valuable thing we have at our age is "TIME"! I didn't realize this until recently I can actually say I can see 70 and 80 and it was shocking! Time the most valuable thing! Don't waste it nonsense, people who do not bring joy to your life, and stuff....Have a Great week Ms. Dana!

Momma still got it!! You are an amazing dancer. This episode resonates with me. I just turned 59 this year. I think one’s priorities shift as you go through phases in your life. Mine definitely has; I’m becoming less and less interested in the traditional signs of success and have been shifting to really valuing time with family. Part of this, I think, is becoming a grandpa a few years ago. Now have two wonderful granddaughters. I would much rather have an engaging afternoon with my adult children and grandchildren than the latest car or whatever. Thank you Dana for sharing.

Morning Dana! I saved your video for my day off so I would have the time to enjoy it. I am 73 and still struggling with these definitions. A definition is one thing but it must also be grounded in one's reality. I would say redefining success is making sure that I can hold on to my house and afford the things I need. I used to think it would be more slow time and becoming a grandmother, but I think that won't happen and so I am free to find new definitions.

@@danafindwell Dana, I absolutely LOVE dogs, my 14-year-old passed in 2020 and I wish I had spent more time with him. Their life span is so short, and they love unconditionally. I miss him every day. My new rescue was adopted at 4 years of age, and I am determined to make up for the first part of her life and make her remaining time with me super lovely. If one human year is 7 years to a dog, then one human hour is 4 hours in a dog's world. I don't know if the math is realistic, but I have a feeling it is close. Thanks for having the courage to share your journey, it is inspiring me. Today's topic reminds me of a quote I once read: Don't ask yourself what the world needs Ask yourself what makes you come alive And then go do that Because what the world needs is people who are alive.

I am in my early 40s, a stay-at-home homeschooling/reseller mom and I feel like I have so much going on but I find it hard to make time for me. I have been struggling with finding the strength as I am always tired, to workout and it is something that weighs me down. I know I have to do it for my own health. Your videos relax me and make me think about the topics you share. Anyhow thanks for sharing with us.

Hi Dana this is probably a great to hear your content today. Your progress as you enter later years is spot on. Easing up in work is very wise. We work to live not live to work. It’s good you’re getting ready to share time you’re time with a grandchild. Oh you’ll enjoy Dana. Although you’re a busy bee between you’re gym and dance work and looking after yourself I see a Dana who is showing a more relaxed look. Good for you. I’m doing much the same learning a slower relaxed and learning life. It’s a good feeling. BTW your dance 💃 is well improving we see a more flexible Dana. Go girl. Watching you post your goods is brill. Your a better wrapper than snoop dog. lol 😝. Dana you touched on 2nd marriage maybe some things are better left alone and private whatever the circumstances you sounded a bit uncomfortable. Best staying on your positive track. Thank you for your video, Dana. At 45 I 'm struggling with the word "success". For the most of my life I was an overachiever who "had to do great in order to succeed". But this feeling of "doing great" was rather fleeting since there's always someone who can actually do better, and then I had to try harder and harder until I completely exhausted myself and got sick. I am currently trying to accept that "doing ok" is enough, but I don't know where to go from there because "doing ok" does not allow me to have the independence that I have been dreaming since I was a child.
