WayV's song is called "Let Me Love U" so the MV is dedicated to their fans. They don't need a love interest in the MV because they are singing to their fans. In Kpop songs the camera often becomes another character in their MVs and you are supposed to imagine that the person on the other side of the camera is the love interest or the person they are interacting with. As a fan, you are supposed to imagine that they are looking at you and singing the song to you. And yes, this MV was filmed by the WayV members, if you notice they are the ones that are holding the camera the whole time.

Loved the reaction and just to add most if not all entertainment companies in SK require groups to live together for a certain period of time to build a relationship and teamwork among the members. Obviously that plays a huge role in how members act around each other compared to people that don’t.

A lot of groups have girls in their MVs, SHINee, EXO, NCT, BTS, SVT, a lot... it's not really a big thing to us, 2nd/3rd Gen fans. Also, the group relationship or mostly men relationship in Korea have that bond, it's normal for them to hug, sleep or hold hands with their guy friends, of course just as friends, because still some of the Korean netizens is not ready for other form of love. But yeah, love your reaction.

From what I've seen, in some Asian cultures (but particularly in the realm of these idols), male friends/family are physically affection with one another in the same way female friends are in the US. *They can be physically affectionate without it being sexual.* I know... what a concept?! Personally, I find it's incredibly refreshing that they don't have the same levels of toxic masculinity US men have in that subject area. Not to mention in most areas of the world, it's not unusual for living spaces to be smaller than what we're used to in the States... families grow up sharing rooms and/or beds, so it's not some huge weird thing to share a bed. And these guys ARE practically family having lived/trained/worked together for years. When it comes to kpop (or in this case cpop), the skinship (aka physical affection) is of course played up for the fans because they know we like seeing them be loving and affectionate. Also, I don't know if anyone has told you yet or if you've just figured it out for yourselves, but the #1, #2, and #3 goal of any kpop mv is to make the viewer fall in love with the idols so that ultimately they'll buy albums. Hence all the lingering face shots and lots of eye contact... Girl group, boy group, female audience, male audience... doesn't matter, the objective remains the same. So you can let your buddy know, it's safe to unclench his ass... he doesn't need to gay panic, because it's all by design! 😉

Why was he laughing so hard..dudes are allowed to have girls in their videos, it’s happened before. It’s kinda sad that he has to even question why they’re so comfortable. And another thing, I’ve seen a lot of people say “thats just how the culture is over there” when a lot of Korean people have come out in comment sections saying this isn’t necessarily true. Why can’t they just be friends? Why do we always have to question why they hug each other? Why is it that it’s 2021 almost 2022 and we still say “this is their definition of manliness and this is ours”

agreed omg!!! why does being close like that have to be justified, they're close friends and all have experiences since trainees together and outside being a band are close to one another, so idk why physical affection for one another or care is seen as strange or weird

Okay don't get me wrong there are crazy fans in the Kpop industry but that's not the reason as to why, first of all there are plenty of guy groups/solo artists who have women/girls in their MV's just because you haven't seen it doesn't mean there are none. Second, Kpop is built of thousands and thousands of groups and sometimes the company's just want to focus on the groups and not really the backup dancers. Third, this video was meant to be a treat to WayV's fans, it was meant to be heartwarming and directed towards the fans, so why would they need a girl in this video. Fourth, Kpop isn't freaking like American music where theirs a women shaking her ass in every video. At the end of the day this is why getting into Kpop requires you to have a open mind set because, you'll quickly come to find out that Kpop and Korea is way different than American music and culture.

For once, sorry, I liked a long discussion. Cultures can be very different. I remember when we had a university trip to Turkey and a senior student - senior citizens can take courses - tried to inform us before we ever got to Turkey that boys holding hands is just a sign of friendship. They simply show close friendship differently... AND listening to more of the discussion you guys even talked about that. Good job. BTW: EVERGLOW released a new EP with the great song/MV "Pirate". IVE released their 1st single album with the song/MV "Eleven". IVE isn't totally a new group, 2 members used to be part of IZ*ONE. Don't know if you ever reacted to IZ*ONE. That's one of the project groups like IOI, WANNA ONE, or X1 which came from the infamous Produce show.

Interesting to see this video from the male perspectives from the other side of the world, but if it's me as a producer I'll be thinking like, 'we have so many hot members already and why we need to spend more money for female models for the MV' hah XD WayV is not really into bright cheeky song, so this is one of the rare song in WayV discography.
