Redesigning a Pokeball in Blender 2.8

Weekend modeling project, took about 3 hours to make and it was an interesting and fun challenge doing hardsurface modeling on a sphere. I hope you enjoy the video! Links below!

When moving things and wanting so save your position (like when you duplicated your insert and wanted to put it inside the top half) you can snap your 3d cursor to its origin with shift s and then move it, rotate your top in, and the shift s to snap the selected insert back to the 3d cursor =] in addition you can rotate using the cursor as an axis so you can also use that for ease of opening and closing with some parenting and no rigging

For people that want to replicate the first steps in the new Blender version: Create the uv sphere by shift+a, then click r for rotate and type in x and then 90 hit enter. now your sphere will face forward. then create a cube and hit s then z and shape it like he does in the video. then make sure you are in object mode and combine the two by hitting CTRL+J. now you have one object. go into edit mode and select the top face and bottom face of the cube and now you can use knife and you should get the same result. delete the rest of the cube and now to select the line in a loop like he does, use the select tool and click ALT+left mouse button to get the whole loop selected. hope this helps somebody else.

I cant use knife from object mode like you. and likewise my cube does not automatically disappear and auto select the part i need after either

I paused the video and noticed the use of "scripts"/addons.. this is one of them. You can see a little menu with the title "HOps" and a version number. If you google it you will see that is a script with a lot of tools inside and this "bolean" effect is one of them..
