Ok, here me out, make Ribaru the stalker, she dresses like Osana, has similar hair to Osana, is kind of obsessed with Osana, but no one suspects her because "she's so cute" but her violent nature makes her a danger to Osana. It can even be a thing where her name isn't even Ribaru (because come on) and that's Osana's streaming persona, and Ribaru just is one of those people who want to BECOME Osana. It's also why she goes to the same school as Osana and goes as far as stealing her cat from her house.

And she could be one of Taro's new friends. I can see Raibaru, in a "good" outcome for Osana's week, helping her befriend Taro once again, perhaps with the player's encouragement to get the ball rolling; this has an over all positive impact on Taro's mental health and the player's, since I'd imagine that Raibaru would be very thankful for the pep talk. I do actually have an idea for Raibaru! Since Taro shut Osana out, maybe she would try to make him jealous by making her own friends. This is where Raibaru would come in. At first, Osana would only be friends with Raibaru to get at Taro but she would eventually find out how much they have in common and they would grow to be close friends. I also think Raibaru would be a fan of Osana's and would have always wanted to be her friend. I could see her being pretty clingy and wanting to protect Osana. I don't think Raibaru would be very strong since she only started learning how to fight after her and Osana became friends but she could be a bit of an obstacle.

I think it would be kinda funny if in YanSim, the "Senpai rejects Osana" ending only happens if you.... don't do anything. Like, just let her dig her own grave. Actually, thinking about it, it would make more sense if Osana was like a tutorial week, where you spend some time figuring out all the school, social, and rival mechanics, with the safety net that Senpai will not accept Osana's love confession. But then, in later playthroughs, you can choose to turn the tutorial off, which would mean that Senpai will accept Osana's love confession so you would have to play the game, but you could skip the tutorial bits. Edit: oh my GOD, this is why I shouldn't comment before finishing the video. You've already got this.

Headcannon: when she starts feeling upset or nervous, she starts to messing around with her hair or bow. So when she's confessing and gets rejected to Taro she holds onto her hair. With them drifting apart I don't think he'd know that this habit developed with her.

Something interesting you could do with raibaru is having her be Osana's best friend from the start and despite how rude or irritable osana is raibaru will always there supporting her goals and helping osana with what she needs. This could inspire yan chan to want an unconditional friendship like that. (Through their interactions we can learn why osana acts the way she does to taro and small things like for instance what taro's favorite food is since she makes him a bento) Thus trying to get closer to the duo to learn how to get a friend like that and in the process would become really good friends with both of them. (Also having raibaru as the suitor would make more sense than the current suitor because raibaru is already close to her and osana actually knows who she is.)

Tbh I think tsunderes can be written well. Most people just focus on the "I bully my crush and stutter when they catch me off guard" aspect of it, but we never see them try to warm up to expressing their feelings in a healthy way. I wanna see tsunderes that go to call their crush an idiot and then begin to hesitate after some time. I wanna see them start apologizing for their behavior and slowly warm up to them. Most tsunderes focus on the "cold" part of their personality and forget the "hot". Give them more moments than the "I made food for you but I'm pretending like I made extra on accident so you better be grateful!" moments!

yeah, a lot of the most famous tsunderes are the ones who just constantly attack the person they're supposed to like and are actually vicious, and there's hardly any connection there at all. the ones i like are the ones who originally had a good reason to be mad at the protagonist guy; maybe there was a misunderstanding or maybe he actually screwed up, and she doesn't develop any feelings at all until everything's cleared up/he apologises. she continues to pretend to hate him because she hasn't previously considered an alternative, but accepts his presence at least. something pulls the two together, she starts to develop feelings, and we get to see her internal conflict about how she's supposed to feel vs how she really feels, and there's actual *chemistry* between them too. maybe she lets down her guard when it's just the two of them alone, rather than the other way around as we so often see. most importantly, she's an actual character with other personality traits than being tsundere. done well, it can be really interesting to watch unfold, but people are unwilling to use the archetype in any way other than the ones they've seen it done already; girl hates guy and destroys him any opportunity she gets, but secretly that was all to hide the crush she's had on him since the beginning! there needs to be an actual story there. osana as a tsundere was done really badly. there wasn't a real reason for her behaviour and there certainly wasn't a real reason for senpai to keep hanging around her, it's pretty out of character for him to put up with that sorta thing constantly considering we know him to enjoy keeping to himself and to not really put up with nonsense. there's also the fact that osana being a tsundere adds nothing to the story at all. yandev probably just really likes them, and not for the character potential.

Tsunderes are supposed to slowly break down their walls and be more warm and communicative over time, before the relationship even begins, in my opinion. Personally, I never liked Ribaru. She was just a thing to make the game "harder". She has no story contribution. Plus, why does the easiest rival need a bodyguard? I understand rivals like the teacher (having other teachers checking in on her) or the student council president, but not just a random girl that isn't even a part of a club. I think Ribaru should be Osana's best friend. If you try to befriend Osana, Ribaru will get mad. She wants to be Osana's only friend. So, she'll start rumors about you. They won't do much, considering you're a new student and people won't judge you too much off of rumors. Plus, since you're posing as a rich girl and Ribaru isn't as popular, the students won't believe her as much because they know you're rich. If you've befriended Senpai before talking to Osana, he can dispel the rumors told about you. He could also expose Ribaru for her obsessiveness over Osana. This could help you become friends with Osana since she'll feel bad about what Ribaru did to you. Something else you could do to gain friendship is play video games and try to join Osana's streams. This could make you more popular. Then, if you do end up killing a rival, the students will rule you out of suspicion almost instantly. One downside to this plan will be that Osana streams very difficult games. It'll be hard to learn those games, so you might stay up later on school nights trying to get your gaming skill up. These are my suggestions, hope you like them!

Same sex relationships recieve a lot of the same general treatment as mental health in Japan despite the exploitation of same sex relations in media and even in the j-pop and k-pop scene for gimiky fanservice.

While I agree some Tsunderes are pretty poorly written- I still love Tsunderes. Like you can pry my Tsunderes from my cold dead hands. What a lot of people forget about Tsunderes is that they have a proper place- romantic comedy or deep drama. Sometimes both. Everyone seems to focus on the violent types of Tsunderes- which are admittedly infuriating. But the thing I love about them is the fact that they’re meant for a sort of denial/slow burn type of romance. The kind where they don’t want to admit they like someone, and try to pull away oftentimes out of fear of being hurt. Yes that can make them come off as unlikeable or contradictory but that’s the point- having them grow past their fears and learn. I’m also a fan of what I call the “Angry Mom Friend” Tsundere, the kind that deeply cares about their crush and does things for them, but gets angry when their crush continues to spiral out of control. I do really enjoy your redesign of Osana, she looks badass honestly

i wholeheartedly feel the same way about tsunderes !! most of the tsunderes depicted can be infuriating and difficult to empathize and like, but i think that if done correctly like in the 'angry mom friend' tsundere, it can def work !! i was a bit taken aback when i listened to the small rant about tsunderes because it was so off-beat lmfao but i found it pretty amusing, but i can't hide my obsession with tsunderes. i personally like the more subdued ones, like the ones that honestly mean well but are emotionally constipated/stunted so they're not able to 'correctly' express themselves !! like you said, it's more of like a character growth thing for me ! it can be really endearing and funny if used correctly !! although, i can def find issue with the more stereotypical tsunderes lol like the ones that are not physically/verbally abusive or manipulative - or the ones that are just plain annoying because they're not really much complexity or redeeming qualities about them. it's sad seeing tsunderes getting a bad rep tho because they genuinely can be very nicely presented, it's just that their personality type never really gets the same complex perspective ! :c then again, the 'dere' types are just over-exaggerations of basic personality types, but still ! tsunderes do have a place along side other personality types, but as long as they're not, you know... a horrible person as a baseline.

Honestly all the Dere types are interesting and have their pros and cons, and there’s so many ways to make characters based on the Dere types without making them the worst versions of them. Kinda agree but Tsunderes are very often poorly written, like I can count on one hand of how many Tsunderes are actually more than just "The bitchy girl". Taiga from Toradora is a very well written Tsundere, she isn't mean just because of a trope but she is mean because she is a flawed and hurt character that tries to protect herself and doesn't want others to look down on her by seeing her as a small, defenceless, pitiful and weak girl. To make her even more interesting, she isn't even mean to the one she has a crush on. She is really sweet and shy towards Kitamura and her Tsundere reactions are more related to her being embarrassed by her friends pointing out her crush. The moment she falls in love with Ryuuji, she is very conflicted because not only does her best friend like him as well but she is afraid that it would negatively affect their friendship overall. But the moment that issue is solved, she instantly becomes sweet and shy towards him too with the only Tsundere qualities left because she never had been in a relationship and thus has no idea how to act. That's one awesome Tsundere! The trope is not the entire character but rather just a small part of her personality. I hated Tsunderes with a passion and just couldn't understand why people like these really mean/violent girls. But Taiga is the reason why I changed my mind about Tsunderes and I now see the massive amount of potential in them. Being a Tsundere is pretty much a personality flaw and if there is one thing I learned is that characters with personality flaws, that are recognized as such by the author, have the most potential.

One of my all time favorite Tsunderes is Kyo Sohma from Fruits Basket, another is Rin Tohsaka from the Fate series. Both are examples of properly written Tsunderes but for different reasons.

An interesting route to take with Osana is that if you do befriend her across the first week-along with Taro-she'll text you asking to talk about something important after school. A location option is by the martial arts club room. No matter the location you choose, she'll tell you about how some fan stole her cat and asks what to do since he's threatening to harm the cat if she goes to the police. If you say you'll handle it outside the martial arts club room Taro and the rest of the club will overhear the conversation. The next morning Osana will run over to you and profusely thank you for helping her since now that her cat is safe, she can go to the police. If you're near Taro or were already talking to him before she arrived, he'll once again overhear the conversation. Knowing that you helped Osana, especially when he couldn't, will result in you getting higher affection points when you interact with him.

Honestly, I like the idea of Ribaru being who you pair Osana with than the other guy. Ribaru’s backstory could be that she was Osana’s neighbor that grew close to her, after Senpai shut Osana out. At first, she intended on helping Osana get back with Senpai, but over time, she began realizing she had an attraction to girls and Osana in particular. She didn’t want to tell Osana in fear of rejection and what she might say, if she knew Ribaru was into girls. If you befriend Ribaru, you will notice how she show signs of having a romantic attraction to Osana and other girls, including yourself. You can confront this to Ribaru and help her get together with Osana. This would require befriending the both of them. You will also have to be close enough to Osana to find out she herself is secretly bisexual and expresses her attraction to fictional girls in video games. From there, you can ask Osana what she thinks of Ribaru and at first, she claims that’s her best friend, but then admits that Ribaru is cute, but doubts she’d like her that way. You can then go to Ribaru to tell her this and from here, she can send a letter to Osana to meet her under the cherry tree and confess her feelings. Osana accepts the confession and decides that she is better with Ribaru, who has always stuck with her during her worst days.

I think we should keep Rival-Ru (idk how to spell her name) so that her only friend in the beginning isn’t just Sempi. It would show how bad of a friend she’s become to others and show how she has gotten better at being friends with people. I think Rival-Ru should be her less popular (but still pretty popular) streamer friend. I think this would make the Streamer aspect feel really involved into the game. That’s just what I think :)

This looks amazing! I love how you changed up her design without just removing everything about her, like I've seen other people do! Though I just realized something that slapped me in the face when you showed the screenshot of Osana's wiki page. Yan dev screwed up how he listed the rivals (from easiest to hardest) Osana should have been WAY higher! Think about this, the only people who have sometype of connection to senpai is his sister, Osana, and maybe the student council president because, you know she's the schools guardian. The easiest person to eliminate should have been Amai because she doesn't have that deeper connection to senpai. Of course the two teachers should be high because they're teachers, Osoro and Asu should be where they are naturally because of their strength, and Oka should be lower than Kizana because Kizana is always around her clubmates while most likely Oka is just going to be walking around, either by herself but surrounded by other students or with her clubmates which because they are a bit weaker, should be easier to deal with! TL;DR the order shouldn't be Osana, Amai, Kizana, Oka, Asu, Muja, Mina, Osoro, Hanako, then Megami. It should be Amai, Oka, Kizana, Asu, Osoro, Muja, Mina, Osana, Hanako, then Megami

My idea after reading a whole bunch of peoples ideas for Raibaru. She could be a fan of Osana, and slowly grow more attached to her since Osana seems to be the kind of person to smile back at people, at most, right? So Raibaru would be a stalker without even really realizing it, memorizing Osanas schedule to hang out with her but Osana is too hyper focused on Taro to notice very much, so I feel like the “bodyguard” aspect could still be the same, but it won’t be all the time. Like, they wouldn’t have the same classes and Raibaru would actually take time to find where Osana is, sometimes Osana wouldn’t even be where Raibaru assumes so Raibaru would get lost and confused, and eventually keep bumping into the player to ask if they know where she is. I don’t know I just like this idea a lot of Raibaru being a student and having a connection to Osana but also having characters interact with the player directly rather than you interacting with them.

I think Osana having a female friend stepping up to support her when she and Taro start drifting apart is incredibly important. Raibaru could be part of the reason Osana is still doing her best to connect with Taro rather than just letting their friendship go. Raibaru goes to a different school, and feels bad that she can't support Osana during the hardest part of her day, so she encourages her to continue pursuing her old friend so she doesn't have to be lonely. Seeing her chase Taro makes Raibaru realize her own feelings for Osana, and they end up together in later weeks(If she isn't matchmade during Osana's time as a rival and doesn't die). Raibaru won't be a mindless follower, rather a supportive friend/partner. They can be an example to Himari what good friendship looks like, along side Osana rebuilding a friendship with Taro after they spent so much time strained. I don't think Raibaru would be as important as Osana, but having her as part of Osanas life will make both them and her friendship with Taro more three dimensional.

Ribara could be added as a love interest for Osana. A sort of puppy love, but because of the world she would just stay as Osana’s best friend. In a turn of events she could be her stalker, as that could be a reason as to my she is like constant surveillance, the player would have to realise that she is the stalker so even when Osana is alone there is a chance she might not actually be. For Osana to actually like her back, Ayano could confront Ribara to various degrees (just about how you noticed she has a crush or all the the way to stalker) but offer her help for Osana to like her back. If you reveal the crush part you won’t have as much control, as she could be used for other things when the time comes. Despite that, Ribara will be more honest and deliberately helpful knowing you accept her. If you go full of stalker, she will be reluctant to help and may do just the minimum so that you will tell anyone.

Raibaru would be a fantastic addition! I think others have explained better, but her having a good friend would also help Osana realize that she was being shitty. YanChan (in a pacifist route) would most likely bring up how toxic Osana is being, but by getting Raibaru on your side too, YanChan can help Osana 1: deal with her emotions, and 2: gain a friend (or girlfriend) that would help the player keep up a good reputation with her. Essentially: get Raibaru on your side, and you can get Osana.

Also, the concept is Osana as a gamer is slightly jarring? I can see her still having the cat ear headphones and maybe streaming or making videos, but when she went to check out clubs, her response to the gaming club was basically that it's too childish to still play video games in high school. It would probably be a relatively easy event but what sap time out of the week, giving less time to focus on the current rival. Like yes it’s a thing that happens , but I think it would’ve been more interesting to have an abusive mother because 1. That would make his backstory more unique and 2. Something that I think might be interesting for Osana that I'm not sure if you mentioned: At the start of her as a rival, she treats Taro like he's made of glass because she heard about his attempt. This, along with her being generally standoffish to him, could further push him to not want to be with her. It's really common for there to be some shift in the way people treat someone after learning that they considered attempting/did attempt. It'd be kinda interesting, at least, to see how Taro handles that kind of treatment, as well as Osana working through this event he went through and the guilt/trauma she might feel as someone who was supposed to be there for him as support.

Bro she’s so pretty I would love to watch some of her streams. Maybe Raibaru could still be in the martial arts club and very strong, but Osana is jealous because her and taro get to hang out every day at the club. Osana does like her at first and this could be a way you could convince her to become a murder (an elimination method if you get osana to dislike her a lot by adding drama between the two other then taro) but the more time you give for the two to be on there own would give them to chance to realize how well they get along, and could be used as the matchmaker method if you needed it. You can spend up the relationship by doing some behind the scenes work. Raibaru could also be used as a way for Osana to realize her faults, judging and being rude to someone when you don’t know the situation is wrong and she could grow from that. Because Osana is about a 2 week rival like others, a way to keep up the relationship is by getting her together with Raibaru, the matchmaker method only works after the two get there own bond and with some strings pulled by the player. I think getting osana a girlfriend when she’s liked taro for so long would take more then 2 weeks but I don’t know. If you go this route the more likely Osana will become a helpful mechanic. And the more you pursue this the better yan-chan will get with there relationship. An idea I got while writing this, the more you pursue becoming friends with osana/other rivals, perhaps this could use as a copping method, lighthearted time with friends. Or just messaging them to help her feel better while also strengthening the relationship between them by talking. Sorry this was super long lol, maybe building the rivals relationships in different ways could be helpful, like being on different spectrums on the relationship (BFF- enemies) with the rivals or something could help with adding more ways to manipulate the situation. Just food for thought with the last one.

Osana came out beautiful!!! Love the new re-write! A possible idea for amai could be that she is a neurodivergent character. Which would not only fit with the games themes of mental health, be positive representation because she is the most likeable rival, but also explain why in a lot of her cutscenes she doesn’t really know what to say to make senpai feel better. And instead opts to give him cupcakes she made. I think having her special interest/hyperfixation be baking would be really unique and intresting. I think she would use baking as a way to connect with taro vs traditional flirting and social interactions. I think it would also explain why she falls for him so quickly, and confesses so quickly. Possibly she might feel like she has to be in love and in a relationship to feel “normal” maybe she feels alone in the world due to not thinking like everyone else, and wants to fit in and feel included (something I can relate to being neuro divergent myself) maybe she interprets being close friends with taro as love, and due to things like movies and books feels like she needs to start a relationship with him, because that’s the “right way” to go about it right? The other option is she falls for him very quickly because he is one of the first people to try and connect with her and understand how she thinks and her special interest. Maybe others just take the free food or use her generosity to take advantage of her. And taro is diffrent. Maybe she has to learn that love is more then just basic respect and the player can teach her that. She could also possibly confess so quickly because she may have either heard about the x-machina tree and accidentally took it literally, or saw that it was what Osana did, or got advice from Osana that she took the wrong way, causing her to rush into things. I think portraying her neruodivergence is a positive light would be wonderful representation, especially considering there is not much good female neurodivergent representation. I think that amai is already so likable that adding that layer to her, that also fits with the themes of the game, would be a wonderful addition!

I like to think that an epilogue of the befriending pacifist route, before or after credits if this was a game, a couple years later when Yandere-chan is okay to be discharged with proper medition and therapy, she is welcomed back with a surprise party that her family(her uncle and his fam cause i don't know if she face her parents again for a while) and friends put together. In response she cries, not the tears of sadness when she found out her parents left her, but tears of happiness and love that she had a hopeful future with people who genuinely love her.

He presses his lips into a thin line and looks away, but then begins to explain. The camera pans up to the sky, and there's a fade (I imagine the sky goes from completely blue to blue with hints of orange-it hasn't been too long, but it is the evening, after all). Osana is...surprisingly understanding, and doesn't pity him at all. She apologizes for misunderstanding the situation, but does ask Taro to let her in a little more. They're friends; they're supposed to be there for each other. And Taro agrees to at least start trying. AHHH sorry for rambling it's just such a cool concept, I love that you thought of that!!

I loved the backstory and redesign of Osana, here’s my take on it! I think of Osana as someone who also has issues at home (bad, mentally abusive parents who got worse for a period of time) but tried to reach out to her best friend Saeya for support/confirmation that their friendship is salvageable. Meanwhile, Saeya distanced himself from her and didn’t even give her a reason why. He didn’t explain to her his circumstances and no longer gave her the time of day when she needed him there, which made her feel betrayed and cause her to close herself off as well. She becomes a loner who’s neutral/cold to everyone but harsher to Saeya, less in her choice of words but more in her harsher/ruder tone. She still hangs around since she’s a loner and he’s her only friend, and tries to start conversations and show little acts of kindness to get closer. However, whenever she tried to make conversation and show acts of kindness, it leads to an awkward silence where she gets flustered by the awkwardness and makes an excuse for her actions that makes it seem like she doesn’t care (i was just asking because of this other thing, i just gave you extra food, etc.). She learns to socialize better (and cope better with her bad parents who’s behavior isn’t as extreme anymore but still sucks) through gaming and online interactions in her gamer channel. She even makes some new school friends thanks to the channel (like Raibaru). Thanks to this, she gets a bit better at making conversation with Saeya, but still has those flustered moments during awkward silences following her acts of kindness (bolder acts of kindness lead to awkward silences which lead to flustered moments, Saeya can tell that she actually cares and is making excuses while flustered because he’s not an idiot). So she’s a mild cold tsundere with flustered awkward antics that her friend Raibaru probably teases her about. She might try to get closer to Saeya and succeed to some extent, but they’re still not very close and clearly awkward with each other, so of course she’ll always get rejected when she confesses to him. The confession makes things a lot more awkward between them, but they get over it and become closer friends at some point.

I love the colours you chose for the shading soooo much, plus it's great to explore the narrative you've built up for the game. I really love it. I'm definitely team lesbians, by the way. Raibaru is maybe Osana's teammate in game: they play together, but Osana isn't quite friends with her b cause of her obsession with senpai. So maybe after you become friends she realises how awful she's been to Raibaru as well, leading the two to fall in love? Would be cute, considering it would suggest that no character would just be deleted from the story after they have fulfilled their duty.
