I really like your keiko. The ideas RUSHED into my head when you said she would be a villain. Giving her a redemption arc would genuinely add to Megamind himself, since HE could give a struggling child the support he so desperately needed at that age. Keiko is just like him- subject to bad influences, incredibly smart, and forced into a villainous role. Now Megamind can show her personally that she can change, she doesn’t have to be the villain society wants to shape her into. Becoming a mentor figure after his arc in the first movie is really suitable, especially since he would have to learn HOW to talk to someone like him. Just because he experienced similar things to keiko, doesn’t mean he knows how to play therapist to a kid. I’d love to see an arc of Megamind going from trying to stop this mysterious criminal, to trying to talk to her and empathize, because she’s just a kid. She’s just like him.

@@fantasycreed it absolutely works way better for a show series. It also keeps the original mature tone of the first movie, dealing with more real-world problems in a sci-fi setting. Hell, if they wanted to keep the tension between Roxanne and Megamind, what better way to strain their relationship than to have Megamind essentially adopt a child without consulting her? Now they both have to deal with Keiko (even if they didn’t literally adopt her, she will be part of their lives still) and the dangers she brings. I wish the writers of the actual movie and show had come up with something like this, I would’ve loved that

I would have made Machiavillain look like Metaton from Undertale. Glamour, Flashy, and Evil! You know he is a super villain by his presentation. However, I think that the brain form should have been his own villain. One flashy queer coded character, and one cold, calculating, machine with an advanced alien brain with centuries of knowledge and experience! I actually find it crazy how these villains actually have so much potential but they are all uncanny and lifeless due to corporate greed.

I had my own plot idea for a second Megamind movie, before the disappointment actually was announced. A year has passed. The retired chief of police during the Metroman era was absolutely self-deprecated when literally nobody in Metro City cared about his retirement due to overall police irrelevancy caused by the antics of both Metroman and Megamind. Embittered, he finds the scrapped door of Megamind's invisible car, (Which I'm pretty sure was still invisible somehow, implying that each individual part of the car has its own cloaking mechanism) reverse engineers it, and starts his own reconnaissance on Megamind and his associates. At this time, Megamind has told Minion about Metroman; what neither Minion, nor Roxanne know is that Megamind has been going to Metroman for a kind of combined therapy and hero advice, due to the recent influx of crimes involving advanced tech. This influx is due to the chief using the invisibility tech to steal, replicate, and discretely sell Megamind's devices on the black market, replacing the originals with lesser copies after he's done. All of this is to build up a mass conspiracy to eventually reveal Metroman as alive and forsaking Metro City, reveal his affiliation to Megamind, who had clearly been colluding with Metroman to maximize his rise to fame and influence, and perfect all of Megamind's tech into one supermech that can defeat both Megamind AND Metroman. No more superbeings. Edit: rewatched the movie, the door did not, in fact, remain invisible. I am dumb

I feel like for MV, it would make a lot of sense for his name to not even be his choice. Like Megamind and Metro Man, the city came up with it, and while everyone knows him by it, he hates it, and when he conducts his plan to frame everyone he goes by his actual name and nobody knows it so it slides even though that was literally what he tried to go by as a villain. Classic comedy.

For rewriting the script, my personal idea would be a sort of extention of the ideals in button of doom, with Megamind realising he can be a hero in his own way, whilst going up against the new villains. You could even use Machia Villain in a similar way to the Lich in Adventure Time, really evil and intimidating, but "so evil he's boring". In the end, whilst Machia is desperate for fear and attention, Megamind always steals the show.

Ayeeee another great vid! My favorite redesigns are the Mermen and Machiavillain! I love the idea of the fish gang being vengeful mermen with unique fighting styles to each one, and the redesigns of Machiavillain are absolutely sick! I love his robot form, it gives me massive Krang vibes, in a good way! And I love the idea of Machiavillain being some sort of twist villain, because it kinda works! The idea of Megamind saw him as a idol but learning that he was an heartless abuser, is not only relatable in a tragic way, but would have so much potential as an character arc!

I remember coming up with a rewrite where Doppler would've been Keiko's mum. Megamind tried saving Keiko at some point (maybe when he was still a starting villain since he know he didn't want people to actually get hurt), this unknowingly caused an accident that gave Doppler her powers and she wasn't allowed to see her kid anymore, so not knowing he was the one who saved her child (only knows he caused her to get in the accident), she swore revenge on Megamind Also, I remember in one episode they mention a villain called "the Cosmetologist" who we don't see, apparently they got their powers from falling into a vat of make-up. It'd be neat to see how you'd design them (you don't have to though).

And you delivered another banger. Some pointers and ideas: 1-I really like both of dude monkey's redesigns. And I think they could actually work together. A monkey thief and a dude hacker would make a really good team for heists, and it could make for a good backstory if, say, the dude trained the monkey after realizing he can't do the physical part himself for some reason (maybe he's sick, maybe he's just lazy. I'd probably go with the second). They just make a good dinamic duo. (also one could be called monkey dude and the other dude monkey, just to mess with people) 2-I also love both of your versions of keiko... I actually prefer the first one tho. I mean I appreciate the effort into making a good character out of her but GOD I HATE HER. Ejem... Jokes aside, your version's really pretty cool, but I would miss the nails. I mean realistically a beisbal bat is already a deadly weapon, but adding nails make it lethal even for cartoon physics. If she's supposed to be a somewhat redeemable robber that's actually pretty damned heavy. I do get the anime influence but... well most times we see it in anime it should really have no nails either. Maybe instead the bat could be decorated with some cloth stripes if you want it to look like its more than just a bat. 3-No comment on the fishboys. They're just perfect. 4-Finally as for Machiavillain. First of, can we just erase his backstory with megamind? Megamind was a loner. That's kind of the god damned point of the first movie. His only contact was minion. I hate how both the doom syndicate and machiavillain have connections with him. Instead the ex-minion that burnt his lab could be keiko. That could help put her on the path of redemption when he inevitably comes looking for revenge, and megamind decides to protect her. It'd make for a better plot imho. And seriously I just... megamind should have no prior connections to any of the villains other than knowing about them. That said. The rest is perfect. I love his robo form. And most of all I LOVE making him cold as hell. Because really. IT'S IN THE NAME. Machiavelli, contrary to what most seem to think, wasn't really evil. Hell many of his books about governance actually talk about why you should treat people well and try to raise the living conditions of the populace. For his time, he was above average when it comes to governance. But Machiavelly was the COLDEST mofo out there. He got the name he did because his books openly stated alloud all the manipulations, all the tricks and all the dirty secrets to keeping your head in the horrifying system that was renaissance era centralized monarchies. He had no filter and barely even expressed emotions. He just coldly and matter of factly admitted to being an asshole, which lets assume it everyone in a power position back then was, and told others they should be. So yeah finally having that represented for real is honestly absolutely great. I am so sick and tired of people representing machiavelly as just some raving megalomaniac. If you're gonna reference him, the character should be emotionless or at least uncaring. And hell, bonus points it could even serve to have characters mention things along the lines of "he's now as dead on the outside as he always was on the inside" when he becomes a robot.

Your idea to fix Keiko is kinda similar to mine. My own was that she was a juvenile criminal that Megamind tasked himself with redeeming, because she reminded him of himself. Her personality would be more serious, down to earth, with just a bit of teen angst, and her arc would be about her spending time with Megamind, eventually leaving him for one of the villains, and then redeeming herself and joining the good guys for good because of the relationship she had build up with Megamind, Minion, and Roxanne

Her little dragon character? She drew all the individual frames and swaps between them in her editing program!

They DO look cocomelon I used procreate to draw my character! I made my gal twice actually 😂 I could totally make a tutorial!! There were a lot of steps (I think a tutorial is a great idea) I drew the body, legs and head as a solid, never-moving piece (since I didn’t want to draw her head turned at all). I shaded and textured it, then merged all the layers together. I would recommend drawing your character on a 3,840x2,160 pixel canvas, since it makes your character super high quality on a 1920x1080 screen (I don’t think I did it loL but she alright) I made groups for each body part. One group for the flattened body, one group for all the arms, one group for the eyes, one for eyebrows, one for tail and ears etc. I then drew different poses for each body part I wanted to move! Arms, tail, ears, eyes, wings, eyebrows, mouth, etc. I drew at least 3-4 poses for the arms, ears and tail, then 3 levels of eyebrows, then about 7 different styles of eyes (narrow, wide, small pupil, teary etc.). Then I drew about 10-12 mouth forms to swap through for expressions. I also had 3-5 wing variants. After everything was done and flattened, I can now swap through groups and turn on and off each layer to create hundreds of poses, expressions, gestures, and all that! When I was ready to export, I turned off the background layer, then swapped through my layers to make different expressions and poses. When I liked a combination, I exported it as a PNG FILE. Then I made another and another and another and all that, saving each I liked as a PNG. Now I can have an expression for moods and sayings and even unique poses for unique situations! Bit of an infodump here but I am perfectly willing to make a tutorial to make things easier :D

​@@fantasycreedIdol does make sense, and maybe his body was destroyed by Metro Man prior to the events of the first movie, hence the robot that protects his brain. So after the second movie, and after he gets his body back, he decides to go after Megamind because Metro Man is gone, and he's the city's new defender. (It would also bring fear to the people of Metro City to see their defender be defeated by him (supposedly), which, as you said, is what he likes)

I'm super glad seeing these redesigns because i see so many potential with those characters I already thought about some changes that could be made so that their backstory is more interesting Some ideas i had was for Machiavillain to be a failed experiment of Megamind and make Knighty Night have a close bound with the main cast while he tries to remember about his past and family (because he would be the only one that could be affected with the Dehydration gun)

Awesome redesigns, I specially loved the last dude just from a design principle. I know this idea doesn't really have much of anything to do with your video, but hearing you say that you're going to rewrite Nevermind gave me an idea that I NEED to share. Imagine if in the sequel the larger world (especially the government and shi) outside of Metro City decides that they don't want another Titan (or Tighten) incident ever happening again and the don't trust Megamind, who's trying to do his best to be a true hero but seems to keep falling short of that in the public perception, to keep Metro City (much less anywhere else) safe and don't believe that he's actually trying to be a good guy. Let's also say that when Megamind was selling all his evil devices that some big government agents bought his device that turned Hal (camera simp guy from the first movie) into Titan to make a league of superheroes that they can control all on their own. (Huh... Sounds a bit like The Boys... I don't think that's a bad thing though, lol.) So, the big government dudes send out there Metro-Man-like super-squad, who all seem like nice heroic people, and I dare say they are; perhaps they're misguided and manipulated by the BIG GOVERNMENT people instead of being a-holes like in all those other shows that are everywhere now. Anyway, they don't trust Megamind due to his extraterrestrial origins and past evil behavior as they were told that the blue space people were evil or something, idk. And as these new heroes start show how much better they are at heroics than Megamind, he starts kinda believing them; that he was never meant to do actual good and that everything that he's done always leads back to something evil. (Like an abundance of new villains popping up as they start using Megamind's technology that they either bought from his garage sale or from all the broken robots and inventions that were scattered throughout the city over the years. Maybe even the *BIG GOVERNMENT* people are making artificial bad guys to make their manufactured good guys look better than they really are, idk.) Obviously by the end, Megamind will prove them wrong and show them that he's a true hero, just not your stereotypical one. Maybe we can get some blue people lore, I don't how, but I think it would be cool. I don't know if any of this is good; I'm not a writer in any aspect, but I will admit it was quite fun to imagine lol. Sorry for the paragraph btw❤

Literally that was my first reimagining!!! (More or less lol) I also wanted to expand the world, maybe have a world-ending level threat, and I absolutely love the idea of diving deeper into the lore of this Earth! I like this idea of the Go-Fish Gang being merfolk activists who go up to the surface and steal fish from museums and zoos and cause trouble in general in the name of reparations in their beliefs that the land-dwellers have colonized their oceans, stolen, killed, and ate their people, and laid waste to their waters - and given how much that parallels real life, I can feel some sympathy for them. Maybe they could’ve seen Minion (or Chum, but he would’ve been named as such bc Megamind now sees him as a friend rather than some haha copyright joke) as a slave and beg of him to return back to the ocean - to which Minion would reject every time bc 1: he’s loyal to Megamind and 2: he’s not an Earth fish

@@fantasycreed Fr. And I’ve even got some ideas for Machiavillain and his origins as well. He could probably be based off the bishounen (Japanese pretty boys) archetype and be cold and ruthless while having a lotta flair and presentation as you’ve described. His origins would be unclear, whether he was once a sadistic human boy who obtained a lotta power or he hailed from a faraway galaxy after destroying it in a quest for power. Whatever his origins may be, he arrived on Earth and was sighted in the likes of Tokyo - and the prisoners Megamind grew up with would show some of the influence Machiavillain’s had on them. So Megamind, in turn, would use his genius to create intricate designs and inventions after seeing a whole bunch of crime footage from Machiavillain. Eventually, Machiavillain finds his way into Metrocity and squares off with Metroman (I’d like to imagine that much like many superhero comics Metroman would have his own fair share of villains to fight despite Megamind being the yin to his yang), and this gives a younger Megamind the chance to approach Machiavillain personally and become his apprentice. Despite the tons of flair Megamind shows off in his inventions, Machiavillain knows that Megamind’s only really doing this based on society’s perceptions of him - reveling in the fun and entertainment. Machiavillain’s whole ordeal is to make people too afraid to say his name, which was why Metroman had a much harder time dealing with him. Keep in mind that Metroman and Megamind were teenagers by the time Machiavillain showed up during the prime of Metroman’s fame. Regardless, Machiavillain keeps Megamind around to see what he could do since the big-brained alien’s still young and naive. The time came for Megamind to prove his worth and to build a suit for Machiavillain, and Machiavillain hoped that Megamind was brilliant enough to kill Metroman, but Megamind was quite hesitant seeing as how he doesn’t want to actually hurt anyone. Machiavillain, however, doesn’t want any pesky emotions to get in the way of snuffing out whatever glimmer of hope still exists. At the end, Megamind chose Metroman’s life over impressing Machiavillain and intentionally designed Machiavillain’s new tools to secretly not harm Metroman, but a freak accident went off and things went haywire. Metroman, Megamind, and all the townsfolk were miraculously unharmed, but Machiavillain was practically a charred corpse - barely alive. The internal organs were unharmed, so Megamind quickly got together redesigning a mech body for his idol. This rendered Machiavillain without his powers, and this led him to becoming angry and resentful of Megamind, blaming him for being too soft and how he should go out on his own terms if he actually wanted to die. He then disappears, leaving Megamind alone once again and swearing revenge - looking for ways to bring his original body back. It’s 10x than whatever tf Megamind Rules presented, no?

Definitely some very interesting ideas here. As I understand it, Mer-people are usually portrayed as beautiful and mysterious, so seeing three Mermen as petty thieves makes for some prettt good juxtaposition, especially since Megamind was known for challenging conventions of the superhero genre. Also, your robot design for Machiavillain’s brain form? I swear to the God-Emperor, that looks just like a Necron from Warhammer 40,000. Gotta be real I would've preferred if the Megamind sequel was made for the original audience. So made more for a mature audience? I mean the original show came out in 2010, most of the original audience are at least teenagers now so why not appeal to them over this obviously bad remake for younger children with no nostalgia for the original?? I think that your ideas for Machia-villain is great! I love the redesign and the concept! Though I think making I'm emotionless is, not the wrong move but not the one I would make. Maybe instead of being "Emotionless" he is rather the embodiment of apathy, and Narcissism. Doesn't understand social ques, wants to be the center of attention, and I think that would make for some great flash back interactions of him and a younger Megamind. Say like Megamind team up with a "reformed" Kiko, and he is hearing the way Kiko is talking about his villainous past. Megamind doesn't want Kiko to end up like his past self. And that could lead to a Flashback scene were we see Machia sitting with an upset Megamind after something went wrong, and Machia tries to comfort him, but it comes off as a projection or a kind of back handed comfort. and it can be played for laughs, and keep something that is serious still light hearted. Then flash forward back to the present and we can see how Megamind teaches Kiko empathy, and how little he was shown by the only father figure he had. But thats just me, and my imagination goin bonkers. Xp Either way, Great video!~ love your art!!

your Keiko is awesome! she definitely needs such story arc! the human Dude Monkey is great but I'd add him some ridiculously big headphones. he could also have his pockets filled with tangled electronics which could like dangle out and he'd throw that shit on his opponents lol Your elf boy Machiavillain is certainly interesting, the long hair and face is on point but I personally see him more like a master manipulator who's always wearing a full suit in public. he's cold, calculated, always puts people down and know exactly what strings to pull to get what he wants. I could also see him be a bit of a spoiled brat who lashes out when none of his plans end up working since he's so used to getting what he wants. he's intelligent but highly egotistical. When he's not wearing his suit I see him more in a long deep red coat with fur around its break line, a wide brim hat and those exact boots. honestly I'd just add the coat to your design and maybe play with the colors a bit. maybe not have his neck tattooed so he can hide it under his suit also the fish gang lineart in leather jackets is hilarious!

Really digging the Redesigns of this show though I would have added a few changes of my own such as most of the Villains either being new baddies that popped up since Megamind turned good (the Sequel, likely a series since it was made by Dreamworks TVA, is set a few months or years than just 2 days giving enough time for Megamind to have his own rogues gallery) or Returning villains that were formerly enemies of Metroman he fought offscreen (to Which Megamind forgot about/did not notice them in the first place with a running gag that Megamind doesn’t know or forgot already their names). as well as Machiavillain, rather being the very Villain who inspired Megamind is now an uncaring Artificially Intelligent robot who was programmed to destroy all heroes but failed and now wants revenge against its creator, Megamind by forming a legion of Doom (and maybe add Tighten for good luck) and to do that he needs a body. it's something like that

It's huge how easy it almost is to redesign the characters of Megamind Rules/Megamind 2. Nontheless, amazing designs. It brings motivation into writing headcanons for how they could exist in the movie. Like, what if the doom syndicate ( Behemoth excluded. ) were also survivors that come from the same planet Metroman is, sent to settle on a different planet they could easily take. ( This can excuse the weird phase 2 plot of the film. )

Instead of being a squad Megamind is in, it's them uniting with Pierre Pressure and...okay I actually cannot Remember the name of the weather manipulator. But the Idea is they're seperate species from seperate planets uniting together, all conceptualized by Machiavillain. Have no idea what to make for Machia, but I could think about him being a form of superentity that is the cause of the blackhole that took the planet of Megamind. Why? I have no idea and I should NOT write so much over this.

love these designs!! also, not sure if it was intentional or not, but making the Go-Fish Gang mermen genuinely helps solve the whole “why doesn’t blue man use un-water gun?” problem (at least with them), cuz their fights would primarily be underwater.

Maybe he taught him to hate Metro Man. Since their planets neighbored each other maybe both of their species could be in a feud. And maybe wanted to bring back their species as use the earth as their new home planet. Idk

Everytime I see a video discussing this disaster I’m tempted to write my rewrite au. I always talk myself out of it, but watching your redesigns is like tempting fate for me. (Just hear me out au where the villains are pathetic teens/young adults, and it’s done on purpose and Megamind sympathizes with them, who looked up to him from “back in the good old days”. Because they look up to him he’s easily able to infiltrate the group, but can’t really bring himself to fight and jail them because it they’re so pathetic it’s sad. Like they are clearly a group of misguided people that never had anyone genuinely care about them. And the main conflict comes from him playing pretend as a villain as part of a plan to try to convince them they don’t have to be villains, but at the same time he kinda enjoys being a villain again. If they want a tv show they could have it show a them trying to turn a new leaf, or even not redeem some there!)

I AM A SIMP for found family tropes, and for misguided villains being set aright by others who once stood in their shoes!! Who knew what it was like to be discriminated against and punished, growing up in horrible circumstances and coming out of it as a villain Found family is BEST! I love it!
