Personally, I think the whole topic of changing the ‘-man’ or ‘-woman’ part of occupations to ‘-person’ is stupid. There’s nothing wrong with identifying the gender of who holds the position. Sometimes it makes me think they use ‘spokesperson’ so that some people don’t realize it’s a woman in charge - which I find very demeaning.
