As someone from around Breda, it's nice to finally see people venturing to the south of the NL. Away from the densely populated areas and cities to the more open and more welcome southern atmosphere

We were surprised at how much we enjoyed our time there, but pleasantly so! We did feel that people were much warmer and friendlier compared to some other cities we've spent time in. So looking forward to discovering cities like Breda and further south, like Maastricht.

@@TAndTGoDutch you definitely have to visit the "Carnaval" fests in Brabant and Limburg then. But before you do, do the research. Just saying if you show up in normal clothes with carnival, you're the weird one :D

Spoorpark translated it is Railpark, it was a rail yard before that divided the city for years. The zipper in the park is put there to symbolize bringing the city together.

Nice you discovered our red head festival. Part of a tradition over here. First tines were in Breda. But as it did grow it moved to Tilburg. Nice you are going to the south too. Under the rivers. Ty for s red hear facts . I enjoyed if a lot. Abd looking at the bakery with worstenbrood made me feel proud.

I’m blond, but I allways needed more anesthesia at the dentist. It wasn’t until I grew a beard that has a slightly red glow that she pointed out that I have ginger genes. It also explained why I allways sunburned my skin faster than other blond people.

Very nice to see how you enjoyed Redhead Days in Tilburg. Surprised me that you were so positiv about the city. Tilburg has not the reputation of being so interesting and historic. It stands more or less in the shadow of its neighbour city Eindhoven. The most recommended cities in the province of Noord Brabant are I think Breda en Den Bosch.

Tilburg has been always referred to as the ugly town in The Netherlands .... Not true though, while it has still beautiful 19th-century relics. Not that historic yet very relaxed in many ways and the big library (spoorzône) behind central station has the international award of being the most outstanding and best library in the WORLD. (Funny and maybe tippical for Tilburg is that most Tilburger's just don't even know !)

There's quite a lot history, but It's not as in your face as Amsterdam, and progress tends to win... (like the Spoorzone/Spoorpark, NS and Van Gent & Loos didn't need the repair shop and shunting yard so it got repurposed)

Yes it's not the most pretty city but we have quite a few things which does attract tourists. Like the funfair, the white castle Willem II der Nederlanden had build but never lived in, Vincent van Gogh went to school here for a few years etc. That school isn't there anymore but the location still seems a must do for tourists.

Unfortunately you missed the Kempentoren during evening light (I personnaly switched off the white ground lights 😈). It was flooded with a dedicated red light specifically for the Red Head Days. As was also our reception desk at the Stadscamping.

Cool vlog, that has to be fun going there as a redhead, I am a bit jealous! I used to be blonde, now very dark with a hint of grey. I have almost all dental work done without anaesthetic. My dentist always finds it quite impressive how high my pain tolerance is.

That's alas not true, Celts were blackheads, or had dark hair - that's one of the first things my old Celtic Languages and Cultures professor told us students, it's a misconception that they were redheads. Though they did give the Romans a hard time 👍🏻

I've never even heard of that festival! I should make some redhead friends. I would have them walk in front of me always, so if we encounter a hostile gas or something, you could warn me because you're more sensitive to pain. Also, no need to deal with bees anymore!

Weird fact that bees are more attracted to redheads, especially because they can’t see red. They can only see blue, green and ultraviolet. It must be something else that redheads have that attracts them.

Tilburg is very close to the Efteling theme park, if you're high enough you'll seen the flying temple (Pagode) pop out of the tree tops from time to time (not to cloudy/misty and facing right direction of course) The Tilburgs skyline is also rapidly changing, and there's a textile museum (somewhere😅) as it's history was in the clothing industry, even the temporary name during Carnaval (pre-fasting party with dress-up and lots of beer) is derived from that: Kruikenstad (roughly translated to: Jug-city \and the inhabitants calling themselves Kruikenzeikers or Jug-pissers in English (Google why because it's interesting but a bit dirty to post here 🤣IMO) )

Oh if you got time visit Tilburg in the last full week of July a fair is build up through the streets about 4-ish km long 2.5-ish Miles I think

Kristofer Hivju is a red head and he is f*cking awesome as Tormund in Game of Thrones. He's a pretty damn good actor in other works, as well. So it's not Prince Harry going down to Ron Weasley as far as I am concerned.
