I was a teenager in the 70's, had a drive in 200 yds from my house. We climbed the fence, we road ourbikes in and paid, and of course in the trunks of cars, man i had a great time growing up.

So many think this is a song about young love, but, it's a song about an old man, remembering his past. I tell ya, this song hits me a lot different now that I'm 65, going on 66 in two months, than when it came out. I personally don't care for this video, but you do you. I mean, the video they made for the song, not your reaction to it.

Bob Segar always believe that a good honest energy was what the crowd wanted. He delivered that on this song. His passion and energy when he delivers a song is incredible. I will never forget this song from my youth.

Fun fact... When Matt Le Blanc was interviewed on Top Gear, he admitted that before getting started, Bob called Matt to his trailer to go through what was gonna happen, and in the process, Bob got Matt very drunk... so have another look at Matt's eyes, coz he was hammered during the shoot! 😂😂

Just prior to this video, Matt LeBlanc was in the video for Tom Petty’s Into the Great Wide Open. He had a quick passing shot as a kid getting a tattoo (same one that Tom has and that Johnny Depp got in the same video). The young couple are Natasha Gragson Wagner, daughter of Natalie Wood and step daughter of Robert Wagner and Johnny Galecki. Johnny was Russ in Christmas Vacation, David on Roseanne and of course Leonard on Big Bang Theory. The “black haired beauty with big dark eyes” is Daphne Zuniga. Lots of bit roles in shows like Melrose Place, but most notably she was Princess Vespa in Spaceballs. Cheers!

Even crazier: we got to see all of the cool bands live for about $9 or $10 per ticket. Concerts were so great back then because there were no cell phones and cameras weren't allowed into the venue. The light shows were pretty basic. There weren't any big screen TV's all over the arena. So everyone simply went to rock out with the band. And it was great! Some nights were absolutely legendary. Like the night when I saw The Who and The Clash on the same bill for $12.25.

This was played constantly when I was in junior high and high school. It also reminds me of my first girlfriend in 9th grade. It got so overplayed, but as I got older, it felt good to hear it again, and of course it takes on more and more meaning the older you get. Glad you did this one. ❤ Check out "Katmandu" for a total blast of energy and a really ratted out Bob Seger voice, lol.

Some artists just get better with time. Bob Seger is one of them. I have learned I prefer singer storytellers and am very happy I have a couple new, young artists with Angelina Jordan and The Warning to provide new songs on a regular basis.

This song brings back memories for me. In particular when this came out, I was 18 and living in Nebraska and at the time the drinking age was 19, so buddy and I hooked up with a couple of chicks and drove down to Kansas (In a Chevy van) where the drinking age was 18. On the way there we were playing this album. This song so worked perfectly.😁😈 I finally got to see him in Sacramento for his farewell tour in 2018.

For you that are too young to know, that big screen is a drive in movie, aka the submarine (Trying to make some front page drive in news) They were incredibly popular. Famous for kids to sit, watch a movie with your squeeze, a couple of six packs consumed. That were before weed, Coke, simply alcohol. The best of times.

Most of Bob Seger hits were recorded at muscle Shoals recording studio, where he used the legendary studio musicians, the swampers These are the same for white guys that played on Aretha Franklin‘s hits like respect and 95 other Gold and platinum hits from Wilson Pickett to the Rolling Stones.. there’s a great documentary out about muscle Shoals

Hi Neighbor, not sure why, but this video was cut off, fading out like that before it finished. This is from the official video, but I recommend you listen to the complete song, ideally either just the audio as imo the video distracts from the deeper message of the song anyway. There is a great lyric video out there on youtube somewhere. Worth checking out.

I agree with the comment the video distracts from the lyrics if it's the first time someone is listening to this song. Bob Seger is known for his incredible lyrics and storytelling and people tend to watch the video and half hearing the lyrics. Although you worked well enjoying both.

One of my favorite non-Rush songs, there is nothing but nostalgia, memories racing by, every time I hear this song. Also one of the few non-Rush songs I play on repeat for an hour or more, just kicked back day dreaming with my eyes closed. It always take me back to SoCal in the 90's and all those memories of my days spent at clubs on the sunset strip. That is the first time I ever saw the music video with Matt LeBlanc in it. It did detract from my usual day-dream visuals of my own. Nothing against my names-sake Matt, though the first second I saw him in the video, just for a second, I thought I was seeing my best friend from those days, his hair was lighter though.

Super fan of Bob since kid, older brothers had his albums then CDs. It's right, video just showing the album has better thoughts of words, but that's over. Triple songs then in early 80s, this, then Still the Same and Against the Wind, all top 5 songs in a row then, like this, could be any ones remembered, many good story writers, but nobody like Bob. If any had parents divorced or in bad relationship themselves, need to listen to song on Like a Rock album, called The Ring. You're so beautiful, wish you'd get rid of start song
