@@regnetexitium2247 Felder is listed as one of the three writers of the song, which is completely fair. Felder came up with the music, including figuring out the awesome duet with Joe Walsh, and Glenn Frey and Don Henley came up with the words. Frey generally figured out the arrangements for Eagles' songs (including the vocal harmonies), so Frey and Felder probably worked out the arrangement (since it was Felder's music). This melody without the words is just a melody -- it's the words that really make the song memorable. That's not to say that the music is lacking in some way... it's great. It was just a group effort and Felder got credited as one of the group. I'll bet he's crying all the way to the bank on this one.

That 77 ‘ Gibson 12 string 6 string EDS- 1275 guitar sounds heavenly. And that flourish at the end of the bar in the intro is gorgeous!!! Don Felder is an incredible guitar player and not given the credit he deserves. Hotel California is my favorite song next to Freebird and Stairway!!!!! 🔥🎸🤘✌️

A little backstory about the Eagles. Glenn Frey was mentored by Bob Seger as they were both from Detroit. He sang backup vocals on his 1968 release Rambling man. Frey went to LA and met Don Henley , Jackson Browne. The song Take it Easy was Jackson Browne's. He couldn't get past the first verse STUCK so he gave it to Frey, he finished it and the rest is history. The Eagles , Frey and Henley began as Linda Ronstadt's back up band along with Randy Meisner. He sang take it to the limit. Another member was Bernie Leadon. The 4 got together and with Linda's blessing became the Eagles. A song called Peaceful Easy feeling was a very good song early on. In 1975 Leaden left and Joe Walsh and Don Felder joined which became the Hotel California band.

Felder Joined 1974 on the album On the border. He was credited as late arrival. His first song was Good day in hell. Leadons last album was One of these nighrts 1975. Joes first album with the Eagles was Hotel California 1976. Felder is playing on two albums before Joe Joined.

One of my all time favorite songs. Felder and Walsh played off each other so perfectly and as much as the Eagles vocal harmonies were perfect, their guitar harmonies were just as perfect. I loved watching them react to one another as they played…..obviously having so much fun. You really should check out the acoustic version of Hotel California from the 1994 Hell Freezes Over album which was recorded for an MTV special which was the first time they had performed as a band in 13 years. At the beginning of the concert, Frey joked to the audience: "For the record, we never broke up; we just took a 14-year vacation". Felder and Walsh absolutely killed it on their acoustic guitars giving the iconic song a definite flamenco vibe. An absolutely fantastic performance!!

I know from some band interviews they are often surprised which songs take off and others that they personally love don't.

A double-neck guitar is typically used for doing 'slide' effects on parts of the song. The guitar (neck) has to be tuned differently for the slide effect, while the other neck would use a standard tuning. Thank you for your reaction.
@SM-jg8fr13 күн бұрын
No, not really. Double-neck guitars are usually a 12-string over a 6-string like this one. Jimmy Page played the same configuration. Both necks are in standard tuning.

Hotel California might be the only Eagles song I can listen to, and what's so funny about that is a long running non-lawsuit. Jethro Tull toured with the Eagles in the early days, and Ian Andersonn talks about how there were times he saw them in the wings watching the show. The chord progression is the exact same as "We Used To Know," a song by Jethro Tull composed by Ian. He never filed a lawsuit, but has laughed about it for decades. I, personally, think it's lyrics are brilliant, and the arrangement is also top drawer. For my tastes, the Eagles are just too Country sounding. Not saying they're country, just too close for me to want to listen to them. But this one song sticks out, and in my mind, it just might be the "borrowed" chord progression from one of my favorite bands.

The Eagles released a fast song in May of 1976, (Before their Hotel California release) called, "Life in the Fast Lane". It's about a couple living life on the edge in the fast lane. For 1976 it was a bad ass song and still is today. This live version was recorded 17 years after their Hotel California vid you just reacted to in 1994. So they, along with the pace of the song, is a little slower. LOL. If you remember the lead guitar player (Joe Walsh) that made the funny faces with the bandanna on his head, he is making those funny faces in this video too and is classic. They all are just older here and maybe just a little slower. But the Eagles rocked us for decades. Enjoy. The only thing that takes the Beach Boys down a peg is that they used mostly studio musicians on their later, more complex recordings because they just weren't up to the demands of Brian's songwriting. The Wrecking Crew backed them on Pet Sounds. Eagles played all their own instruments which gives them the edge in my opinion.

It’s“Hotel California.” The idea of it being a trap reflects the seductive nature of drugs and the lifestyle associated with them. The initial allure of the “hotel” can symbolize the enticing aspects of addiction-pleasure, escape, and euphoria-while the realization that one cannot leave represents the loss of control and the destructive consequences of that lifestyle. Many critics have pointed out that the song captures the cycle of addiction, where what initially seems appealing can lead to entrapment and despair. The imagery of being trapped in a beautiful yet ultimately suffocating place resonates with the experiences of many who struggle with addiction. Overall, the song’s themes of entrapment, illusion, and the darker side of desire make it a powerful commentary on the complexities of addiction and excess.

Eagles... live it's hard to beat them... the bass guitar acoustic and the two electric ones overlapping in the solos and the drummer and his sweet voice in this song but this song has more...pay attention to the lyrics..at the time when Charles Manson and his group murdered, with films like Rosemary's Baby by Roman Polanski 1968, The Exorcist by William Friedkin 1973 in full The rise of Satanism made a lot of sense...it was said that you could see the "Satanic Pope" in one of the windows of the Hotel that appears on the cover of the LP. and that if you played the LP backwards, it sounded like an invocation to the Devil... I have the original LP... I tried it... but nothing.
