I was waiting for your reaction to "Lanternlight". The surprise that I read on your face confirmed to me once again that Tuomas's composition has once again reached another peak. And Floor's voice, the emotions... Every time I see a reaction to this song, I get a lump in my throat. And this in the conditions in which I completely understood the meaning of the lyrics, after more than 10 listenings and analyses. Did you notice that you can't hear drums, guitars? They are not necessary. Minimalism. Everything is perfect like that.

Floor did all the vocals for this album in 6 days, while Tuomas had reserved 14 days. She recorded the vocals in her home studio, 6 weeks after giving birth to her second daughter Lucy. The band came to her home in Sweden as she was not fit to travel but here voice was exceptional good as you could hear. She very recently stated that she felt better singing in the lower registers after giving birth. Valkyrie vibes 🙂. The movie scenes in the background are to support that feeling of times that are not long ago but seem to be from another world. Some shots show her with two faces, one looking back like the god Janus (?) I recognized pope Leo XIII (yes, I'm that old) and wiki is saying: "Leo XIII, who was born in 1810 and was thus 86 years old in 1896, is considered the earliest-born person ever to be captured on film. The images of him are well-known, and recently were enhanced and colorized on-line.” kzbin.info/www/bejne/aXq5gmBnqZ5lnqMsi=hXFM4fDfXhhyaWan

This is another Tuomas Holopainen masterpiece. He only keeps on getting better as his talent and vision matures. Absolutely stunning. This composition is as deep as the Marianas Trench and has more layers than a baklava. It is exquisite. I'm 73 and I am the last man standing in my family. So this performance runs deep, cuts deep. I understand the loss, yet I still live with hope and intent. Nevertheless, Floor's voice and this composition is akin to an emotional depth charge to the heart. There is a tenderness and vulnerability there that I have not heard before. And her face, good Lord, her beautiful face so expressive and adorned with nothing save her heart and soul just melts me to my core. The poetry of this song is also heart-rendingly exquisite. t is a poem, a prayer, an elegy. Listen to it. Just listen to it. Tuomas’ poetry can easily stand alone. Some of you get it. You get it, Red. Some of you don't. I do, and that's all that matters. Kiitos to all of you in Nightwish for delivering such epic and emotional story telling.

Lovely reaction! Final song from the final album of the trilogy. It feels to me like someone saying goodbye to family and friends as their life comes to the end. Loads of beautiful imagery in the lyrics of seeing the end, of reminding those we love that we will always be present, of lamenting the unfinished things we leave behind (as is always the case), and then walking "to the trees". Since Tuomas is famous for writing lyrics for multiple interpretations I could also see this song where the narrator is death personified, much like the way the lyrics in Music were. A third way I see it is that the lyrics aren't necessarily about a person but are instead a metaphor for humanity and our walk through the eons of our existence which would fit well with the themes of the album trilogy. A number of references to Auri and other Nightwish songs. "I am in the light and flood" and " I am in the four winds" IMO are shout outs to the Auri songs Light and Flood and The Name of the Wind, very beautiful instrumental that have a similar feel. For me the line "I am you who climbed off your back" gives me Decades in the Sun vibes and of course "To the meadows I go" is tapping into the same symbolism and meaning as Meadows of Heaven. Heartachingly beautiful song and a perfect bookend to the album and trilogy. A beautiful tribute to Tuomas's father and all that are the lantern light for our journey through life. I agree with Tuomas, if we have lived a life of joy and meaning then we shouldn't be sad at the end but celebrate a life well lived. I think this song and Epica's Tides of Time will be the songs for my funeral when I pass. Since you really enjoyed this one you should checkout some Auri songs. Auri is a side project of Tuomas, Troy, and Tuomas's wife Johanna Kurkela. Auri has a similar vibe, emotion driven atmospheric folky music. Some of my favorites are Desert Flower, The Space Between, and The Valley.

Great reaction my lovely neighbor 🫶This is the most beautiful, soul gripping, heart stringing, fulfilling, masterful celebration for, and remembrance of, one’s father ❤️🔥 Tuomas is an absolute genius; not only with composition but with lyrics! My father, the strongest man I know and the cornerstones of my entire being/life, passed on cpl of years ago. He had truly endured physically and emotionally for over 20 years after multiple strokes and other health challenges. His peaceful passing on the waning hours of my birthday was a true 🙏 blessing; so much so that I had yet to shed one tear; until now. The combination of Tuomas’ yet another compositional and lyrical masterpiece and its delivery by Floor and Troy finally opened my floodgates 💦💦 No amount of 🇫🇮 inner strength enhancing, emotion blocking, words (sisu, saatana, perkele) could hold back the desperately needed and necessary outpouring of emotions, reflections, remembrance, appreciation, flashbacks, re-lived joy and affirmation of eternal love. Genuine tears do have healing powers! Tuomas, Floor, Nightwish, “Lanternlight” - 💙 and thank you to the G.O.A.T. There has never been, there will never be, another Nightwish, IMHO!

It always amazes me how soft Floor can get given the power she has in her voice. I think the main complaint of those first couple of singles is that Floor's voice seemed buried in the mix.
