Went with a friend to see Primus open for Rush on their Roll the Bones tour ('92) in Atlanta. We were talking to a guy sitting behind us about how many times have you seen Rush etc etc. and he mentioned, " I don't know anything about Primus. Are they any good?" and we were like, "Dude, just wait!" Primus, opening for their childhood heroes, pulled out all the stops. At one point, Les pulled out an electric standup bass and bow and launched into a blistering instrumental version of Led Zeppelin's Kashmir. Itwas awesome! We asked him what he thought when the set was over, and he only said two words, "Holy s**t!" Great show!

That tour was where I first caught them live, in Seattle. Great show from start to finish. Claypool's rendition of Master Of Puppets stands out for me.

I went to a Birmingham show then London a few days later. Never heard of Primus before, been a fan ever since and seen the several of their UK gigs.

I have been to the Primus Winery in Sebastapol California and Recorded Primus a couple of times .They are quite the group of people to meet. Their music is quite the original sound ,Comedy music.I love their style and sound and personality.My name is MUD is a dun song too.

Primus, to me is a "genetic Frankenstein" of Rush, Pink Floyd, King Crimson, and Frank Zappa. The more you listen to them, the more apparent that will become. They have a wealth of weird from which to draw. What drew me in was Les' incredible, and innovative bassline on "Jerry Was a Racecar Driver" (which was also my introduction to fretless 6-string basses).

Primus made no pretense that they were huge Rush fans (They are a trio w/ a bassist on vocals) and their live album 'Suck on this' in 1989 started w/ the opening notes of 'YYZ' by Rush... and Les Claypool is a huge fan of Geddy Lee.

Check out les Claypool other projects Oysterhead (Stewart copeland on drums) and also thr flying frog brigade. He's quite an interesting musician
