This is rightly considered a classic live album. This is early Rush in all their ragged, rocking glory. It was the jumping off point into an incredible run for them over the next decade.

@@williamdemerchant7295 - I suppose 2112 was, technically, my first album; but that was just a tape made from a friend's album, earlier that year. ATWAS was my first purchase. I think I bought FBN and COS, before 2112... once the constant rewinds on 'Soliloquy' eventually ruined that tape! 😊

Hi, I am a new subscriber. I have been a Rush fan since around the 2112 era. I have seen them 7 times live. They are unbelievable. Love them. It was said in the past that Rush was a guy's band. Not true. Perhaps in some places there wasn't many females but I can tell you that here in New Orleans when Rush played there were many females. All of us girls loved them. Wonderful reaction. It's very nice to meet you and I do thank you so much.

When I was a young teenager, that was the first album I ever bought in my life. It had just been released. I was so impressed that I went out and bought, Caress Of Steel, a week later. I am 63 years old now, and there's not a day that goes by I don't listen to some Rush. I only bought the album because I loved the picture of the drum kit. I thought to myself, from the looks of the picture, these guys probably rock. I was right.

The only album I ever bought based just on the cover (having never heard the music) was Budgie Bandolier. It's got this very cool cover of three armed budgies (parakeets) on horseback. It was in a used record store for a dollar. I thought 'what do I have to lose, the cover is worth a dollar'. It was an amazing album and I probably played it 1000 times, was so good. Particularly Who Do You Want For Love and Napoleon Bona Part 1 and 2. It's a 3 piece like Rush, from Wales. The drummer and bass player are solid musicians, the guitarist is a great rhythm guitarist but not the best soloist. The singer Burke Shelley (a really odd dude IRL) has a voice very similar to Geddy's just with a little more 'edge'. They arent nearly as good as Rush, but it's worth a listen for sure. Isnt it great when you take a chance on something like that and it pays off?

This was the first Rush album I bought on my 16th birthday in early December 1976. I walked into my local record store with a £5 record token planning to buy a Queen album, but the Q section was near the R section and that album cover caught my eye and something made me buy it. I've been a Rush fan ever since. A few weeks later I got another record token for Christmas and bought 2112. Hard to believe it was almost 50 years ago as it seems like yesterday. I still have both albums today.

I was eleven and I was bragging to my buds about this great three-man group called The Police. My bud put this album on the record play and handed me the cover and then inserts. This album laid the foundation for the Rush fan to experience the vast range of talent that the group has. After about an hour and a half of listing to the albums, my life as I knew it as an eleven-year-old was never going to be the same.

Ah, early days, at their bombastic best. I like how they slipped into Finding My Way, and then seamlessly moving back to Working Man to finish the song [after Neil's drum solo, of course]. And this is a more accurate rendition of Working Man, with respect to the studio album. Other, more recent, live cuts play with it a little more. but this one preserves the harder, dirtier sound. Good stuff, as always :)

I remember when I bought this record, yes….record😊, and playing this track over and over again to learn the guitar part! 🙂 When you had that reaction to Geddy’s scream at the song transition is exactly like mine in 1976 when I first listened to this album. And then there’s the drum fill. To this day I am still missing parts of my jaw, if you know what I mean! 😊

This 1st live album showcased a real raw sound which I think was very faithful to early Rush. By the time they released their next live album 'Exit....Stage Left' in 1981 they had released a further 4 studio albums & their sound had grown with the addition of synths. 'Exit' if anything was 'over-produced' & Geddy even stated that some imperfections were re-recorded in the studio. Roll on another 4 studio albums & their 3rd live album 'A Show of Hands' was released in 1988. Geddy has said that with that release they had finally got the balance right in terms of a faithful reproduction of a live Rush performance. Love your reactions Red xx ( I'd take it as a compliment that Rush named 4 songs in anticipation of your KZbin channel...Red Barchetta, Red Sector A, Red Lenses & Red Tide 😁xx)

Had we been physical neighbors, and not just digital neighbors, I would happily bring you coffee. This was the first (commercially available) drum solo for Neil and the lads. If you listen to the others released in 80's you can hear how he expanded upon some of the themes that took root here. The Phasing effect, sadly, didn't stick around. But then again, the technology did get better, so it wasn't missed in later tours.
