Even if sequels are bad, ending a movie on a cliffhanger is worse. Closure is a good thing. And if the first one is good people will watch the second one without question which is a good thing for the creators even if the sequel sucks they're still getting their money back. It's like if Firefly had no movie to end its plot.

You can't go wrong with being inspired by John Carpenter. The man is a straight genius. Between 76-88 I don't think he made a single bad movie. It's a shame he never gets talked about in the same way Spielberg does. I know people think of Halloween when they think of Carpenter but The Thing is his masterpiece if you ask me. It might be one of the best movies ever made.

I recall when I saw its ads years ago I assumed it WAS like a Jason statham Bourne identity thing, where I assumed he went there because he wanted to perfect the family from the armed gunmen kind of thing. Which sucks that they used one of the bigger climax setpieces in three trailer just to mislead and distort the actual story. It really drew me away because I had no intention of watching another super soldier spy movie. Sad I didn't see it in theaters now. Advertisements shouldve tried to be more mysterious, wouldn't have drawn the popcorn slob masses but wouldve intrigued atleast some dedicated and curious movie watchers. Edit: realizing this comment is 2 years old sorry lol

Simon deserves credit for being self-aware, without being a child about his criticisms. Mad respect. For the record, Simon, I enjoyed Blair Witch for what it was 🖤

Love You're Next, especially love the guest and this is brilliant because you get to see the thought process, Jay shutting up and listening is testament to Simons ability to fully explain his vision

One of my favorite movies of the decade. Love how 80s it feels without looking like a ripoff/a nostalgia high. Dan Stevens is fuckin great in this

I absolutely love this movie and have watched it with many of my close friends, all of which who have loved it as much me. I love the aesthetic of the 80's outrun serving as a background and the music is still something I jam to. Felt like the Hotline Miami movie we're never getting but without the David Lynch. Damn shame it didn't get the recognition it deserved.

Ohhhh man, holy shit the *unrelated picture of Rich Evans* made me laugh like an idiot. Also, The Guest earned quite a few different laughs from me throughout, and I liked it so much I even ended seeing it a second time.

Calling Robert Rodriguez a lazy filmmaker. Finally someone else gets it.

superhandsomepig the difference between a meticulous filmmaker and a lazy one is apparent in Grind house. Tarantino filmed all of his "scene missing" portions, Rodriguez didn't bother to. That's lazy.

superhandsomepig no he didn't, the director's cut only contains extended scenes, he didn't film the missing ones. Just lazy.

Filming scenes that will never make it into the film might be "committing to the bit" but Tarantino is the douche for doing so. Why eat into the budget and schedule for scenes that won't be in the movie? The fact that I saw those movies in cinemas and a few times since *and never heard about that gimmick* illustrates that it didn't really add anything to the mythos.
