We got a 1950s 13 letter shit spreader R-200. Tulsa winch live roll 5th wheel set of poles and like a 30’ float. I loaded a non running D6 of same minty vintagness on that float. Winch cat on trailer pick trailer up and on to 5th wheel and hauled it home at the speed of smell. All with zero knowledge, a few verbal instructions from my roughneck grandpa. When I went to drop the float off that live roller....well I dropped it simple as that, it was ugly but nobody lost a leg and the equipment survived. I was like 19 at the time. You did minty job handling that gin truck 👌

I swamped on a bed truck for one summer to stay busy cliff hart had just left rebel trucking, 345 wheel base, C50 i think the model was, had the diamond plate front fenders. 2 speed rear ends,18 speed with a 4 speed aux box. 425 cat turned up...alot. going to calgary from nisku pretty sure he was just showing off we were doing 100 mph with an empty scissorneck trailer. He was an amazing driver on a rig move.

Oh yeah, all of our line heaters (except for the winterized units, they were tri-axle gooseneck trailers) and sand traps are mounted on skids, so when we would have to take them to location I'd have to winch them up and chain em on down.

Run that winch in highest gear in the main. Had 10+4 425 cat. Always highest gear up or down, if your lucky heavy stuff on hard ground will spit you right out without having to pull ahead using truck gears. Chains upside down. If you load it won’t come over roll, you’ll blow the chain off and drop the skid and send chain bits flying everywhere, great for content but not on location without th safety watching. I learned on a mechanical truck a bit newer 1990. Love the content and rock on. Timelapse trucker KZbin 👍👌

Put links to the bottom of the pin with a long pin on bottom or bolt with head cut off. If you pull a trailer you want to be able to pull those out and put away, most oilfield guys just have a safety for when they are in, but 100% removable to put in tool box

First the crown truck then the pole truck then wheeler then live roll scissor neck movin shacks and drill string and loved every minute of it i got to experience something not to many 18- 20 get to see or do. To see what it actually takes to move a drilling rig from one location to another over or around mountains in the middle of nowhere in -30 to -50 . grew up in Red earth, slave lake, rainbow lake to ft nelson across the bush. eventually learned how to run power tongs for the rigs loved that life.
