I have had the redmagic 8 pro for almost 2 years and I don't feel that more processor power is needed, I play pubgm, genshin impact, wii and ps2 emulators, among others. And all these games always run at maximum fps. I didn't even have the need to buy a cooler until now, I bought one for $5 on AliExpress and my phone feels cool again. It is inevitable that over time the cooling layers will weaken and the fan inside the phone will fill with dust, causing higher temperatures, but this solves a lot of the problem. The battery also remains in good condition after these 2 years of intense use, it retains approximately 80% and that's even though I haven't been careful with the battery, I didn't usually use the charge separation function that is used to take care of the battery. I have no reason to buy a higher version of redmagic right now, and I hope it stays that way for a while.

I'm desperately in need of a new phone and I'm considering this phone as a daily driver, but I've heard many say that previous generations of Redmagic phones had software issues like overly aggressive closing of apps in backgrounds so you couldn't consistently get notifications from e.g. SMS apps (presumably in pursuit of better battery life), among other problems. I've looked all over for a review of the actual PHONE side of this new phone, but everyone focuses on the gaming aspect - fair play, it IS a _gaming_ phone, hah. But is there any chance you would use this as a daily driver for a week or two and do a review on that?

But 8gen Elite appears as powerful as current x86 handhelds. But then again, this so much gaming performance is overkill for Android games and x86 has a lot more game library and emulation options.

NX729J here, two years in service, device has issues with software, hopefully newer versions won't. For example I can't answer a phone call, because os is not showing it, file manager sucks not having necessary permissions, settings menu is a mess and sometimes Bluetooth giving headaches. Other than that and the price being too high its a nice device. Imo it should be around 600-750 dollar range, there is nothing premium there. Oh yeah, and cameras do suck, a lot, to be honest. Especially in a low light conditions, just dont even try😊

The 2 million dollar question. How many years of security and software updates? 4 years ago I bought my first full screen phone {Poco f2 Pro). Now even after 4 years phones like s24 ultra and iphone 16 seem like very old generation compared to it. Only issue is I unfortunately no longer get software and security updates for my poco so desperately looking for the next full screen phone but need something with plenty of security and software updates. Don't want to have to look for another phone in 1 or 2 years.

Almost perfect phone with excellent Snapdragon Chip utilization. A couple of gripes. 1. Software update - I am particular about this and they should offer more than just two years of major Android upgrades. I'm sure that Google is upgrading Android to keep it at par with the chip technology and 2 upgrades ain't cutting it. 2. Camera can be better - I'm not sure if the rear sensor is the barrier to better software deployment in the image quality of the photos. I'm ok with the front sensor as it's probably the best they can do with current available technology. 3. Android Desktop Mode - not sure if this is going to be available on this phone.

I wish that the red magic gaming tablet design was exactly the same design as the red magic gaming phones with the same specs as the red magic gaming phones while retaining the headphone jack.
