Seriously good patching ! That’s about 30 patch cables in modular. Love that this is all digital and saveable. Lovely end result too ☺️👍

Hydrasynth is a topper qua UI! I still am not sure how I like the oscillators though, they have a very distinct flavor, like every sound is either metallic or very glass like. I think I prefer the Modal or Waldorf flavor of wavetable synths. Still it is astonishing what sounds this thing can produce.

Excellent! I love ambient and spacey music. It would be great if the music evolved more, possibly by using longer sequences and more chance. I wonder how it would sound with a little more Indian influence. I also wonder how this could be combined with a sequence on the Elektron Digitone. Maybe the Digitone could produce an evolvingTabla like Indian drum pattern. The possibilities are endless.

Absolutely inspirational, Jeremy! This was beautiful. And HOLY GUACAMOLE! I didn't know that we had the ability to get 64 steps out of the Step LFO! That's remarkable! I had the good fortune of playing the Hydrasynth at Knobcon in 2019 and talk to Glen Darcey about it and I was really impressed. But this instrument just keeps on giving! I got mine in December 2020 and I love how accessible it can be, yet how deep the rabbit hole goes. The Hydrasynth offers years of exploration and wonder. Thanks for shedding some light in an area I had yet to explore! Peace.

Love this video. I did not realize you could matrix into the arp rate/division. You can have the step lfo trigger an envelope by going into page 3 if the envelope menu and select lfo trigger in addition to the key trigger. That way you can shape a sequence lfo.

I only wish it was multi-timbral like Waldorf's Blofeld. The Blofeld is 16-part multi-timbral. But I guess you cannot get everything in life... The Hydrasynth is on my top-list of must-haves.

Great videos!! Recently I had ALMOST decided to drop a few grand on a eurorack setup. Now it's a relief to think that perhaps I can do that maybe another time, and spend a fraction of that money on this beauty. I still can't decide though, between the desktop or that juicy poly-aftertouch keyboard. Is the extra space worth it?
@AbyssalReverberations3 жыл бұрын
I have the keyboard version, I love it. If you don’t have a keybed with poly aftertouch or an AT ribbon controller in your set up, the keyboard version is the best. If you don’t need those or value them, save the space and get the desktop.
@K.KILLORAN3 жыл бұрын
The pads in the desktop are amazing and have Poly AT. I wouldn’t want to only use them in a performance but they are really nice and perfect for patch like Jeremy is doing. I pair mine with the Launchpad pro MKIII which has P.A.T. and feels great with the Hydra, otherwise look at the Hydra Explorer coming out.

Being recently introduced to the basics of modular synthesis, I can see color coded cords going "to and fro" every time you click one of the Hydrasynth's controls. Thanks for making the world of synthesis more global and relatable between "traditional and modern tools". I'm so excited I can get a taste of this, if and when my Hydrasynth finally arrives. 😀

I am one of those people (and you may be familiar with the type) who watches a BAJILLION synth demo videos on KZbin, ever mindful of what might make the cut for the next big purchase (which, you know, usually only comes once or twice a year, and yet I still need to watch videos nearly every day all year, sigh). I thhhhhhhhhink this may actually have been the video that got me to buy a hydrasynth. I've always been impressed with it. ...I just never really "got" why this would be worthwhile compared to software wavetable synths. ...but this video showed a pretty compelling workflow that may actually tip the scales in favor of "yes, it's worth it." I really appreciate what you do, Jeremy. I know you've spent a lot of time in the past year or two musing about whether what you do here on KZbin is A) valuable and B) the "right" way to be spending your time. ...I cannot answer that for you, of course. It's something you absolutely must decide for yourself. But I just want you to know that: at least ONE guy out there who has been watching since the OP-1 days appreciates what it is you're doing here. I'm not super into the modular thing (I prefer semi-modular, like this), but ... that's fine. I still find being witness to your journey fascinating. Carry on.

I hope you read this sometime Jeremy, sometimes get in writing comments that I hope are provocative, not just sycophantic, but rarely get feedback from the poster, even while appreciating that Time is an enemy. But still wanted to thank you first off for putting a sound together that is full of complexity and actually uses this great synth's potential instead of showing yet another bland techno sound or Moogish bass patch that was boring before it was even made. One thing amused me on the human level though, your shock and delight in finding an aspect you just found on the fly, such as the LFO's 64 step ability. But yes, affirmation to you to make more of these types of patches that push Hydra's abilities, much appreciated!

Was thinking why don’t you join a band… but I realised it’s not in your dna. I suppose music has changed so much since I stood in a garage with a singer and bassist and drummer. I guess digital is in our dna now. And I found this video just as inspiring as when I had my first band practice. I guess at the end of the day it’s machines helping us create music. I guess it’s more maths, but what a reward for using organised thinking. Hey you couldn’t run a guitar through that patch to see what it sounds like? Don’t worry I will. Cheers take care you make tons of difference! Actually the quality and value in your videos are beyond anything.

Cool vibe, very meditative. Wish the desktop version came in 12 (or more) voices so that it’s still playable in unison with poly. Since it’s digital, it shouldn’t affect the price as drastically as with analog.
