It’s really ironic how Tim Burton said that his favorite Christmas movies growing up were “Rudolph The Red Nose Reindeer” “How The Grinch Stole Christmas” because the both match parts of his filming style. The Grinch has this creature and this story line that some might not think to mix with Christmas the first time they hear it, it has the weird an creepy twist, and Rudolph is a stop motion film. And not only do these movies match styles that he later used in life, in a movie he made involving Christmas, he put both in. How Jack is a creature you wouldn’t normally have in Christmas, steeling Christmas and end up loving it, and Zero was Rudolph.

What is both tragic and excellent at the same time is that this film is truly one of a kind, I've never seen any stop motion movies on par with this film.

I dislike it because the original Laserdisc making-of went _way_ more in-depth, and was about twice as long, with puppet test footage, and many other extras. Not only did it have _Vincent_ and _Frankenweenie,_ it also had a quick look at Henry Selick's filmography, including the MTV short _Slow Bob in the Lower Dimensions._ AND ALSO a sneak-peek at the concept art for _James and the Giant Peach._ I am sorely tempted to buy the deluxe Laserdisc and offer it to Disney for use in a 30th-anniversary release.

saretardedfilms It's not quite so. Clay-stop animation had been around long before The Nightmare Before Christmas. Tim Burton's film just made great leaps and achievements in the artform. Stop animation was made famous in films like "Jason and the Argonauts". Toy Story was famous for being the first *full-length* film completely animated with computers; however computer special effects and animation were being used as early as the late 70s/early 80s, I think. Nontheless this film is amazing! It was one of my favorites as a child (I couldn't really watch it until 1-2 years after it's release because of it's PG rating) and one of my favorite nostalgia films now!

He's done a couple. Corpse Bride, Frankenweenie, and he did Coraline but that one was not his original idea. I'm not sure if he did 9, but that falls in the same area as Coraline I think. Before this, seems most stop motion was Rakin/Bass style or claymation. This took it all to a whole new level and I think it's hard to live up to if you're new to the game.

@CyberChick2011 indeed, sorry to say but to me, in my eyes, was when people TRIED with films to make them original and stand out, not just make a film with a story already done with famous actors and hope fans of the actors will watch just for the actors

While I love Tim Burton and his work (especially Nightmare, Corpse Bride and Edward Scissorhands) I think that he is kind of cliche. His art is timeless and memorable, but his stories all kind of blend together.. still, he hasn't made anything less that 3.5 stars in my book so I always get excited when he releases another movie. :)

What a cute little opinion you have there. 1. Tim Burton was on the set of this film for a whole two days. 2. Henry Selick and Danny Elfman did most of the work on this film. 3. Tim Burton is a brilliant animator, but a shitty director. 4. This IS Disney.
