I would not say it is contrary. It do see more people liking Furina's personality. She is an annoying brat with some serious insecurity issues. But that is why people like her so much. She is designed to not be liked an annoying. And I think the done her really well. ESPECIALLY with EN VA. JP and CN at least has a different approach to Furina. Of all the archons she felt really human to me.

When we got to talk to our sibiling during the Dainsleif quest and they outright told us - nope, I have not gone missing, I'm hiding from you on purpose, go travel the world and meet the Archons and then maybe you'll come to a different conclusion from me, but I won't meet with you before that either way. That's why the Traveler was so pissy at the start of Inazuma and tried to ignore all NPC troubles, and very focused on meeting Nahida and Furina right away once reaching their nations too. So it's not like we need help with finding our sibiling anymore ever since the conclusion of Liyue, because we aren't searching anymore 🤷‍♀️

4:20:16 my theory regarding why we turned down taking up the case with Navia could be hoyo hinting at how traveller is getting fed up with all the side quests instead of their main goal. We first saw this during Inazuma with Ayaka but its more evident now since we just straight up refused.

Yeah and right then and there when she asks traveller for help we just had a massive court case behind us. Its like we did a 12h/day job (IRL) just now and right as we leave to maybe relax or work on our goals we get asked if we want to work 12 more hours each day. We also at that point don't really have much to do with that case. Which ofc soon after changes as we get implicated and so we do end up helping.

It also feels like Traveler doesn't like when people assume they'll help out just because they're the Traveler. In Sumeru they didn't seem as annoyed about helping Nahida as when they first get to Inazuma or in this quest

Yeah the turning Navia down and immediately becoming guarded as soon as Fatui machinations are implied to be working are both consistent with their character arc! Especially right after (ex)Scaramouche and Dottore's WILD schemes. In Sumeru we kinda got caught up in the samsara when we went to look for the dendro archon and over hundreds of cycles became naturally very invested in Nahida. Paid off for once, though! Nahida actually helped us out ❤

I’d also assume it’s just time and place. MC I mean just was put in a spot with the Fatui after thinking they had just made some new friends and trusted ally’s directly in the middle of the trial. It’s clear they weren’t in a positive mood or right headspace to want to help out or investigate knowing it’s likely tied to that part which it’s clear MC wants to not be around the twins at the moment.

The traveler initially refusing to take part in investigating the missing women case really reminded me of the first time we got to inazuma and outright refused ayaka in taking part in their revolt against the vision hunt decree. I think many players believed the traveler is an all-good, pure-hearted hero because of all the helping hand we have given throughout this journey that players overlook the little signs here and there that the traveler is a self-serving individual. They do all those "heroism" to be on the good side of the people and the gods to make them more amenable to help them in their goal(s) (finding their sibling and the truth), and there have been multiple side quests where the traveler always mentions "as long as there's mora involved" when doing all those tasks for NPCs. Also, from what I understood, the traveler were not upset about the twins being fatui, but the twins keeping that information when they whole-heartedly trusted the twins. It was even pointed out by one of the guards how quickly we jumped into the lyney's defense to the point of acting as their attorney. childe is not even our friend, in the original CN text, the traveler only said "a familiar face" instead of "friend" when we met him here. And the traveler is wary of childe, but they also know what kind of a harbinger childe is. The same cannot be said for arlecchino, whom the twins are working under. That's just my two cents. Love the commentary as always, Rednas!

4:02:18 The thing about her being chosen is both an accident and not. It was not an accident that the machine showed her seat number since Cowell, who tinkered around with the machine, knew who was sitting where (seats were all reserved before the show). But it was an accident that Halsey got chosen. The seat was actually reserved for a female artist who is from fontaine and was therefore a good victim for disolving (disolving is possible if the person is from fontaine) but Halsey stole that ticket and so it was Halsey sitting im that seat and not someone from fontaine. Halsey is from mondstadt which lead to her not disolving amd yes... I guess the rest is self explanatory.

I’ve legit been putting (too much) thought into her kit when she’s probably gonna be a Geo-hypercarry Hope her kit involves Silver and Melus in her Mechanics, maybe she can be a hypercarry who can still support via an off-field Melus/Silver. Hope she can revitalize crystallize like a more effective Nilou. God I just noticed she’s basically Fontaine’s Nilou (supporting girl who plays a big role early in the story), no wonder why I like her so much 😂.

I think the Traveler is mad because with Childe, he never really deceived us. He told us he was a Fatui Harbinger, and the fact that he “””betrayed””” us really wasn’t a surprise given that. Plus, we’ve known him for like a year and kinda understand how he works - we never trusted him, but we don’t hate him. But Lyney never told us his connections, lied to us about the evidence, lied to us about his identity, all the while coming off as innocent and kind. So we really felt deceived in this instance because we genuinely trusted Lyney, while we never really did (and still don’t) trust Childe.

I personally think that it makes sense for the Traveler to be upset at Lyney and Lynette given everything that has happened up until now. Sure we're in speaking terms with Childe NOW but back when we first met him the Traveler was already suspicious of him and even now they're not entirely friends with him either. The only reason that the Traveler is as cool with Childe as they are now is because we've had plenty of time to get to know him and understand him as a person. Lyney and Lynette on the other hand are a different story, we've met plenty of people over the years (including those of the Fatui) and some of them were people that the Traveler came to trust at one point in time and has been betrayed by all of them, not to mention all the horrible things that have happened even more recently, it's honestly no wonder the Traveler is sick and tired of them by now and isn't as willing to trust them. Given the circumstances it's no wonder the Traveler is pissed off that the literal first people they came into contact with and became friendly with just ended up being yet ANOTHER members of the Fatui, not to mention that just like all the rest they were deceiving them from the very beginning even if they didn't mean them any harm. Essentially the Traveler has been hurt by the Fatui one too many times and is no longer as willing to trust people, especially if they're connected to the Fatui.

Coming in with some cultural nerd sh*t right here: Front row seats are actually not the best seats in an opera house. They might be equally expensive as many other seats in the stalls, but you'll have to slightly look up at the stage the entire time. If you're watching an opera, you'll additionally have to always move your head up and down to switch between looking at the stage and the subtitles. Best seats are middle of the stalls and first balcony. You'll hear everything perfectly while also having a pretty straight view. The slightly higher elevation lets you see both stage and subtitles without having to move your head much. So really, Lyney gave us quite bad seats for the performance😂

This was such a well-narrated video, thank you ♫ ♪ Also, hearing Sander speak French and comment on the fun linguistic nuances of Fontaine made me realise something important about my own experiences with Genshin. I sort of fell out of the game amidst the later releases of Sumeru and never really though about why, until now. German, Chinese, Japanese, and French just so happened to be languages I have some level of proficiency in, as well as understanding of their respective cultures/customs. I must've never questioned why everything felt so subconsciously quaint and familiar, up until the vast region of Sumeru slammed a *cold hard culture shock* in my face. I felt so mentally lost from not being able to pick up all the subtle references in character names and lore, and that...turns out to be a major factor in making someone feel connected to the game. You could only imagine how overjoyed I was upon arriving in Fontaine and being able to spontaneously translate everything mentally again 😭 Would've never realised this if not for the video. TL;DR: I need to seriously study up on South Asian and Middle Eastern culture, then go back to Sumeru in order to appreciate all the nuances.

I love Furina so much, not because she is a brat but because she just acts as one. Furina seems so lost on how to actually be an archon and actualy feels like she is someone scared of her own people. Insecure to the point where all she can do is put on an act to protect herself. She basically lost herself in the mask she wears. Behind all of her lines is the echo of her own heart racing along.

Maybe, if Charlotte hasn't appeared yet in the event, you'll get introduced to her in the aquabus scene.. Tcg event is in 3.7 right? I kinda forgot.. but I know I skipped that event and kirara.. so my lumine never met Charlotte..

fun fact: if you didn't do the event where charlotte was in, our conversation on the aqua bus completely changes. I skipped the 3.7 event, meaning i never met charlotte in game, so my first time meeting her was on the aqua bus, I think that's really smart of hoyoverse.

Now I understand why people were hating Furina in co-op. So many people don't understand a well written character. If we hate her it was cause it was well written and acted. Also, there was not even a single scene where she was real due to her secret meanwhile Navia and other characters like Neuvilitte were always real and resonable, that made her the least likeable released Fontaine character. But to me her drama and act was perfect according to the storyline. And we were supposed to not care about her. Even the traveller didn't care for her until the very end. Though, I have grown to like her a lot and also her personality cause I like drama and theatre. She is lovely, childish and perfectly normal person according to the storyline and it works for me. But what's with the hate with her design. Maybe I am girly enough to like her designs.😂

Mr Sander wants to stay and forget about the brother because of Navia who lives in Fontaine which is basically France... such a coinkidding! I think the whole problem with us finding about Lyney and Lynette as the members of House of Hearth wasn't that they're Fatui, but the lie. Two lies at that: (1) concealing identity as Fatui (2) lie about Lyney's alibi while we were literally trying to protect him and prove his innocence. I think Lumine had enough of deceits and manipulations from the 3 Nations she's been at before.

finally catching up with the story! one thing to add though as to why the traveler was “mean” to both lyney and lynette imo of course because they were the member of fatui, and from our encounter with them it…always lead us to some kind of catastrophe outcome, no? personally if we take a look at traveler’s pov, it must be tiring to be strangled into problems with the fatui, i mean from previous nations there are always unpleasant series of events which are related with them. as for childe and why we can still looked like we were “buddies” with him, it was probably because we have spent more time together with him and perhaps learned a thing or two that he… isn’t just a members of “fatui harbingers”. what i meant is that we learned more about childe as a person since we know him longer thus why we can be a little bit at “ease” with him. with lyney and lynette though, we just met and even considered them as our new local friend so the traveler’s feeling here is more of disappointed and betrayed than hatred? that’s why the response came out as harsh. and with navia i sense that traveler might also felt a little afraid that she might betrayed them as well and doesn’t really wanna involved in another series of cases that has nothing to do with them. like you said, it was an overwhelming day as well for the traveler they must be tired… OH MY GOD WHY DID I WRITE A LONG ESSAY SHSHSJ i found it really interesting that the traveler behaved like this, it was so refreshing to see the character development of them! can’t wait to see the second act and how you think about it cause the next part would uncover most of the questions from this part (and also adding more questions to the story LOL) good stuff, rednas!

Traveller is more mad at Lyney and Lynette because we gave them our word that we would defend them in court however they withheld important information and lied to the traveller that Lyney was within the tunnel the entire time. The Traveller does not care for good and evil, they see people through their personal experiences, ie Childe. He did not lie to us about his identity and we got to learn and hang out with him in his story quest, we also have known him for long enough that we have a frenemy type relationship. They aren't completely buddy buddy with Childe, they still hold caution to the fact he is fatui and they always will. Also we the players have an eagle eye view of the story so we cannot judge the Traveller's reactions from what we know, it's realistic for them to be alarmed.

On the note of traveller turning down Navia. We have already seen this happen multiple times, namely with the vision hunt decree. The Traveller only has one goal and that was finding their sibling, now it's to find the truth. They won't anything that isn't related to that and it's not their responsibility to fix the entire nation's problems, it just happens that they often get embroiled in it and are forced to act whether from guilt or righteousness.
