Last week, Jordan and I stopped in Lamar, Missouri to meet with Russ Hurt and Rusty Hawes from Redneck Blinds. They showed us around the facility and walked us through the process of manufacturing their famous fiberglass blinds. We also got a sneak peak at a few of their new products that will be available in 2023.

Very impressive with the employee involvment and homeless shelter construction. That's the type of company I can support. Thanks for the video Bill.

The CEO has a foundation that is very active in helping homeless. When Jordan and I were there, Danny was in Salt Lake City buying a 3-D concrete printer that he is donating to a Springfield organization that helps the homeless. That machine can make a house, start to finish in just a few days. It is very cool and Danny is very active in that regard. Good luck and Merry Christmas.

Very nice and informative tour. We enjoy all that you and Jordan are producing and sharing with us. BTW, at the end of an afternoon hunt from an enclosed blind, I often sleep in the blind to avoid spooking the deer when leaving. You also get a short but good morning hunt the next day. It is amazing what you see in a food plot when you are already there when is getting light. Tennessee

Derreck, I do this too. In fact, last season (2021) I never returned to my vehicle after an evening hunt. If it was a Redneck blind I slept there. If a tree stand on a ridge, I slept at the base of the tree. That way I was only coming and going at midday. Worked really well. Good luck and Happy New Year.

You would laugh at how I do it. I just put the pack on the front rack, put the bow on top and then use a rope to tie them down. Not very technical there. Good luck and Merry Christmas.

Did I see a mini wood stove in that cabin or was that something else? If a wood stove wouldn't hurt the fiberglass walls I may need one of these.
@bill-winke
@bill-winke 2 жыл бұрын
I think that was some kind of electric heater that was made to look like a small wood stove. I am sure it was not a wood stove.

@@bill-winke OK, Thanks for clarifying. The cabin I need to replace is 1/2 mile from the road so electricity (other than maybe some limited solar/wind power) isn't a good option.

Always wanted to hunt out of a bucket raised in the air from a excavator. I hunted from the back of old coal trucks before. Off an old dynamite shack. Never in a actual blind made for hunting tho. Lol

Nothing against Redneck Blinds, as a carpenter, I have to save where I can. I’m getting set to build a mobile unit on a trailer and was contemplating height for bow hunting and possible removing the trailer after being set in place. IDK. Bill, you mentioned you like the 5 ft. height. I assume that is while on the trailer..which would be a little bit higher than 5 feet? More like 6.5 to the floor? I enjoyed the video, thanks!
@bill-winke
@bill-winke 2 жыл бұрын
Steve, I would try to be around 5 feet even with the trailer. You want to keep your center of gravity from getting too high so you can pull it along gentle slopes without tipping.

Put it on a trailer so you can move it around. That allows you to use it in several spots throughout a season or at least move it from season to season depending on where the deer are. Merry Christmas.

What's your thoughts as an engineer seeing these built in a batch process instead of continuous flow? Guess they are built like Corvette Z06 engines!
@bill-winke
@bill-winke 2 жыл бұрын
They move through. Each part of the plant has its own operation and the blinds just move through. So I think it is a continuous flow. Good luck and Merry Christmas.

Great blinds but they still leak water through the windows. If they can solve that then I may buy one, until then, I build my own and they never leak.
@bill-winke
@bill-winke 2 жыл бұрын
MD, maybe that is fixed now. They showed us one of the steps in the quality control process is to spray water on every window to make sure it doesn't leak. Merry Christmas.
@Mo75149-j
@Mo75149-j 2 жыл бұрын
@@bill-winke Hopefully. All of our neighbors have them and have issues with water leaking, same with all the muddy blinds. Muddys are worse. I think the rednecks need a 4-6" awning molded above the windows to help keep water from running down above the window and then on the window then down into the seal area. That would help. Merry Christmas to you as well.

The windows are sub par for a blind that costs this much. All of mine leak. the carpet gets wet and gets moldy. The walls have zero reinforcements. The floor is only partially sandwiched with plywood. In general, this is a very flimsy product for the money. with just a few tweaks, it could be 100 times a better blind. YMMV...
@bill-winke
@bill-winke Жыл бұрын
Hmm, I don't have any leaky windows. I wonder if you got a very early production blind. They are a lot better now than they were when they started. Sorry to hear about the experience you had.

@@bill-winke My stand was purchased at the first of this year. Shoddy design, to the point of not even reinforcing the window latches and hardware with a washer on the exterior, to spread the load. As I said, poor design, executed in the absolute cheapest manor, and sold for an exorbitant price. Some backyard engineering and a few pop rivets, for $3000+ dollars. Sub par at best, a complete rip off...
