It's not a good question .. he mentioned many times as well as he wrote his biopic . He clearly mentioned that he killed an elephant for the tusk during his initial stage of life , which has been followed by his heredity .. after a certain time period he stopped it

Kirti chakra Pandillapalli Srinivas IFS., had given several chances to surrender. But he had not utilised the opportunity. First wrong was to escape from Bandipura forest guest house. Mutthu Lakshmi her self told, Srinivas IFS shouted in the forest to surrender . Finally he got permission from the government to surrender Veerappa. Instead he killed an honest young and dynamic forest officer who worked for forest and tribal welfare. Otherwise he would have lived among the people since 1986.
