If the BMS (battery management system) cuts off charge when temp drops below 0º C, the solar charge voltage can rise above safe limits. Relion makes a similar battery (RB-100-LT) but includes an internal heater in the battery. This allow solar charge to warm up the battery before charging.

Good review. Thanks. One other thing you didn't cover though was the cold protection cutoff. Would be interesting to see a followup video where you put the battery in your freezer over night and then check it to see if it refuses to take charging current after you pull it out. Then keep monitoring the current while watching a thermometer on the battery to see when it starts to take charge.

Great review. Now I have have to do some learnin' on LiFePO4 battery chemistry and low-temp charging. Low temps are not much of a problem where I live, but I want to know anyway!

Would have loved to see a test of the cold temperature protection mechanism. I've never seen that on a battery before..

nice battery . they make a nice battery box for that one and more. it is blue. only wish it had power pole connectors but so easy to add. the M8 terminals are the same as 5/16 in used on lead deep cycle batteries . when using ring terminals on them ,no more than 2 stack is good and the higher current larger AWG wire down first on battery. this would make a great field day battery. this great drop in for RV use. check charger unit . normally switch that off or change to LiFePO4 setting. use correct charger .some RV units have a AGM battery setting and this close to start with. the battery has a good BMS . 73's

there are different types of pound rating of trolling motors... some are 10,20,30,40,50+ pounds ect........ i have a 50amp 65 pounder 12v trolling motor and it will pull max 40 amps with me alone but if i have another person on my little boat it will peek 50 amps at full power so if i leave the power on full with 2 people thats 50amps it will run none stop for 2 hours till the bms shuts it ... very simple to under stand trolling motors rating some are also 24v+ but most are 12v .. iver done 12+ miles on my little boat on my trolling motor on my 100ah 12v i just dont full power much mostly keep it 80% because you dont get faster when full power since electric motor tends to just sag once its up at the highest rpm unlike a gas motor it has the high rpm full power

Slowing boats down dramatically lessens the energy needed to move them. It is related to hull speed, which is the Square root of the waterline length times 1.36. At a 1.0 times the Square root of the waterline length you use about 25% of the energy to move the boat that you use at hull speed. Usually less than a knot slower in small boats..
