MSR Stowaway 1.1L and Zebra Pot Lunchbox Compared

Great video, thanks for the detailed points. The MSR Stowaway is manufactured by Zebra. Not sure if you were aware of that. A couple things i thought of while watching. With regard to the lids, the Zebra will allow steam to drip down the sides of the pot, whereas the Stowaway will allow it to return to pot. Not a big deal as the steam is free of minerals, and anything else for that matter. But the huge point which did not seem to make the radar, was the second pan that comes with the Zebra-pot. This is a massively useful item who's value cannot be underestimated. It is effectively a double boiler. 1.) First of all, it is a second pan. It can be used as a pan on the fire for heating anything you'd heat in a pan. Soup, chili, beans, etc. It can also be used as a small frying pan. Heck, it serves as a plate and a bowl too. 2.) While you are heating soup or similar in bottom pot, you can keep bread or biscuits warm in the top pan...or anything else that needs keeping warm. You can basically warm 2 things at once. And since the top-pan's edge rolls over the bottom pot's edge...no moisture can transfer from below to above, or vice versa. Chili below, cornbread above...that sort of thing. Use it to keep parts of your meal warm: You can boil some water in the bottom and then use it to keep your food warm above for quite awhile, while you finish-up other cooking items/ingredients. Example:..your bacon and toast staying hot in the top pan while you finish frying your eggs, etc. Such a bonus is quite a plus if you camp in cold weather. *You could drill some holes in it to make it a steamer if that serves you better. And finally, the butterfly handles allow you to carry the pot with the lid-on easily, if it's hot. The Stowaway does not. Again, not a biggie by itself, but the pluses add-up. Thx again.

I like the MSR Stowaway pots, great quality. The pot lid depth & lip fitting inside is much better. I have the 775ml & find it a perfect size for motorcycle touring here in Australia. Thanks for sharing.

Really helpful video, I have the GSI stainless kettle but wanted a nesting pot set and have had my eye on the Eagle 0.7 for awhile. I would have preferred the Zebra as I think they are slightly better quality (and the inner bowl is a real plus), but like you, having the kettle inside was important, so I bought the Eagle 0.7 kettle which arrived today. I also have the MSR 1.6L and 775ml stowaway pots for car camping. The 775ml pot nests inside the 1.6L so I have a complete cook kit for my needs in two pots. Thanks again for sharing.

For the kettle to fit inside you should have gotten the Billy pot. Not that much bigger, but it's nice to have the extra space if need be, plus you can store so much inside.

You can use a Helikon-Tex mess tin with a diameter of about 15 cm. Then you can fit Eagle Products inside and at the same time the Helikon mess tin lid is deeper and can be used as a pan. The whole Helikon set is made of very thick sheet metal - similar to the one in Zebra. If you haven't returned the Zebra pot, you can fit into it (probably) the smallest aluminum Trangia kettle.

Did you find a pot that fits a 1.5l eagle kettle? I'm thinking if maybe the MSR Stowaway 1.6l? I can't find interior dimensions anywhere.

I have not heard of a pot for the 1.5 eagle, but it would be kind of nice to next two together.
