I too had a similar experience like Divahar. During my house hunt I faced 38 rejections being from India. But finally a found a very good landlord who treats me like a family member. They cook for me and takes care of me. After signing the contract I never felt like I am staying away from home. I agree that some may have a bad experience with landlords, but there are also good people like my landlord.

As an Indian living in Singapore on rent for 12 years now, I have experienced issues when renting a house with my family. My sister, father and mother are actually really very clean people. Everytime we found a house to rent and they were fine with us renting until they asked for our nationality. After we told the agents our nationality, they started to ignore our follow up messages regarding the house. And so far the only 'excuse' we have recieved for this racial discrimination is that "Indians keep their houses dirty". They didnt even see our renting profiles or the feedbacks received by all our other landlords which were still happy with their house after we left just as they were before. We struggled to find a house for a few months because of that. I feel like your friend, Divahar had lesser problems of that sort as they were a single person looking for rent. But that's just my experience. Thanks for the video!

I rented out my 5-room HDB flat in Yishun (at around 1991) to an Indian family, this Indian was not a Singaporean but was from India. When we wanted to sell off our flat in early 1992, the Indian family offered to buy it from us and after an agreed price, I sold it to them, though there was a condition, according to HDB, because there was a quota (for Indians/Malays in housing estates) and if the quota was met the sale could proceed. I had since upgraded numerous times . . . from HDB 5-room to inter-terrace to corner-terrace to detach and to now owning 2 detach houses. The sale of the 5-room flat allowed me the chance to buy a landed property as I bought the 5-room from HDB at $70k, and sold it for $210k exactly 5 years later. After deducting for cpf contributions and what-not, HDB issued me a check of slightly more than $100k and that set me off on a hunt for my first landed property.

Hi what a surprise to hear about such a candid topic which is often carefully edited so that it does not offend anyone. Bottom line, I grew up in Spore and am a Singaporean, I have faced racism. My friends who are Chinese can't believe that racism exists. They don't face it and tell me that I am being very sensitive. The truth is that colour does matter. If you are a fair-skinned Indian, you are treated differently from a dark-skinned Indian. I sincerely more races will see your channel and understand that we too are human beings; we differ in colour and eat with our hands. Seems like the media like to lap up and sensationalize stories of racial discrimination faced by Indians when renting a house or room in Singapore. How about telling the horrific stories experienced by landlords who rented to them for a change? First, not all Indian tenants are bad. There are very good ones who are very clean, friendly, easygoing, polite and smell nice. I should know because I had rented to many of them before from Malaysia and India (including those who worked in other countries like US and EU). But on the whole, based on my own experience, Chinese tenants from Singapore and Malaysia are a better fit for Chinese landlords because they share similar cultures and the associated guest etiquette. There are bad apples in every basket and Chinese tenants are no exception. But like other non-Chinese tenants - due to their different cultures - Indian tenants present more challenges to non-Indian landlords. For example, most Indian tenants will agree to everything in the rental contract and all the house rules before moving in. But once they move in, they will debate, argue and negotiate EVERYTHING or claim they did not agree to them in the first place! They are more likely to be argumentative, hostile or unreasonable than other races, and they don't seem to understand the English language like the rest of the world. Also, they do not like to follow masking regulations even during the peak of the pandemic, thereby endangering the rest of us at home. Worst of all, most of them seem to have problems saying a simple sorry when they are at fault and expect you to suck it up, but would make a lot of noise if they think you are at fault. My worst tenants happened to include a disproportionate number of Indians. One Malaysian Indian tenant urinated at the staircase landing when he came back and his pee (it was a lot) flowed all the way down to the lower storey in the middle of the night because he said he was too urgent to get into the house. When he found a cheaper place, he insisted on not giving any move-out notice, demanded for his deposit to be refunded, and dumped a lot of used masks inside his room all the way underneath his bed and specifically said he wanted us to clean it up after him! Another Malaysian Indian tenant constantly didn't flush the toilet bowl after use and then sent me disgusting pictures of the dirty toilet bowl to complain that someone else did it and ask me to make sure it wouldn't happen again. I wasted a lot of time to finally catch him and even then he flatly denied it. He also burned Hindu incense inside his room after midnight every night even though he was not supposed to, and then denied he did it and accused someone else. He also hated to clean his room and would sweep out everything from his room into the common area outside his door and turned nasty when I told him not to do that. I also had an India Indian couple who stole some expensive hardware that I provided for their use inside their room and I only discovered that after they moved out. When I contacted them asking for their return, they said they were too busy with work and told me to go buy new ones instead of bothering them! One India Indian tenant not only refused to follow simple house rules like flush the toilet after use or keep quiet after 11pm when the rest of us were sleeping, he instigated my other tenant to do the same! He also acted like he was superior to my family and I and talked down to us. So can you call me racist when I told the abovementioned troublemakers to move out? For the record, I had asked each and every troublemaking tenant to move out, be they Indian, Chinese or otherwise. Thankfully, the majority of my tenants were ok. So for all those Internet warriors, journalists and the like who cry racial discrimation against Indians or any other races in Singapore, please rent your rooms or houses to at least 10 tenants of that race for at least a year each to experience it firsthand. Then come back and share your experience with everyone else. Otherwise, please shut up.

Great video again~ You pointed out many good points and the video is very insightful hopefully killing the stigma of Singapore landlord thinking that Indians are bad tenants. We can't get rid of all the racism in the world, but one less person who is racist can make the world a better place. It is not just Singapore but other countries as well *cough america* My experience below, please understand that this was from our experience and not the stereotypical stigma. I understand where some of the racism came from due to bad rep from their "predecessors" personally my current tenants are indians workers who have rented with use as a group for a few years(3+ years) now since our previous tenant, who was also indian (he didn't respected us and broke my stuff. tl;dr: he was a PSB professor that lived over 5 years with us) ANYWAYS, the new tenants are very respectful and they are very nice individuals who work hard to provide for their family back home. They are grateful that we rent the house out for under market rate, unlike the previous tenant. So honestly, it's each person's experiences, but what i don't support are people who experienced bad tenants and go around telling others that indian tenants are the worst to rent out. I have heard of this way too much, tho lesser now maybe due to covid. AND To be honest, in our experience, our worse tenants was actually a close competition between a Female Malaysian Chinese and the PSB professor.

This is how i feel landlords are not being fair be it rental to workers, even stretched down to shopping malls. If i would own and rent out my house one day, i will never increase up to 50%. If i still living on top of all my saving, and my living expenses didn't effect much, and i still can survive, i wouldn't increase 50% more? That is daylight robbery. I do feel the gov could do a rule, where you may increase in such situation where gst gone up etc, but landlord have to justify why they are able to increase the rent. Cos i heard many stories, where after pandemic is started to lifted, before the gst gone up, landlord go crazy increasing the price of house renting. So i hope future and current landlord, please please please, be mindful. People come here to work too, and, its not fair. Just imagine you are in their shoe bro.

That's definitely not a racism issue. Malays or Muslims will never rent their houses to pagans or infidels, why we never or dare to complain about that? In fact, I can say that I am a Buddhist and cannot rent the house to people of other religions. In fact, we Chinese can also claim that majority of the Buddhists are not willing to rent the house to people of other religions that including the Malays. But to my knowledge, most of all races including the Malay Muslims who work in Singapore are welcome by any Chinese landlord in the premise that they are singles . 1) The Chinese are most worried about the long-lasting curry smell the Indian tenants might have left. 2) Whether well -to-do or not, most Indians have the habit of defaulting or delaying in paying the rental. 3) Majority of the Indians like alcohol drinks. So when they are intoxicated, any unwarranted incident could happen. 4) Playing Loud and noisy music which is not soothing and habitual to the ears of others 5) Frequent quarreling and even talking with a extra high decibel.

This is a very biased video. There is nothing balanced about this. Why didn't you interview landlords whose houses got thrashed by Indian nationals? Of course you picked the outlier and interviewed an Indian landlord. If you want to make yourself look good and score brownie points, maybe do some charity work instead of making a biased video to mislead people. When people don't rent to china nationals, you don't hear anyone complaining about racism or racial discrimination. But only the indians are vocal about it like everyone's property belongs to them. So what is the aim of this video? To coerce me to rent out to Indians otherwise I am labelled a racist?

I don’t disagree when some group of Indian bachelors don’t take care of their rooms properly but living in KL for few years I have seen many of my Indian friends take care of their unit very well and they are afraid of deposit deductions when leaving with bad condition. If you had fair amount of bad experiences with Indian tenants then you can choose not to lend them but just based on the stories and perceptions that Indians are bad is not a good idea. Many Indians are very sophisticated when it comes to take care of their place so don’t just believe in stories. Just mention penalties for any damage and you can see they are good tenants.

what is the difference in race there is no issues
@TigerTiger-ve9dc2 жыл бұрын
Nothing wrong. Some race just have higher probability of wear and tear on the house. You don't want to have to spend 60k for renovation after renting it out for 50k for 2 years. Why not give a fairer view by showing the landlord side of view.

At that point dont rent out ur house lah, imagine excusing being less human so u can spend less money on renovation 😂

@@mirmironthewall ya lah, that's why you must pick tenant wisely. Sometimes maybe rental lower but help you take care of house is better than high rent and destroy everything.

Whatever is happening, Asians should invest .Honestly I appreciate you and your content < Technical Analysis is good but I find It truly baffling that major crypto youtubers just look mostly at pure T.A and completely ignore the bigger narrative of why BTC is pumps/pumped and why the future outlook will be even rosier than it seems. It's kinda irresponsible to ignore the fact that each ETF launch so far has caused a major dump at the peaks of BTC. We were already on shaky footing with historically low volume and almost pure whale pumps,narrowly avoiding a long-term bear market. More emphasis should be put into day tradiing as it is less affected by the unpredictable nature of the market. I have made over $350,000 from day tradng with Bradley James Holly insights and charts. He been one step ahead of other analysis..

If this tenant thought Singapore rental prices are too expensive perphaps he should shift to Malaysia but his salary would also be worth 3 times less. Singapore property rental prices are known to be expensive due to the high cost of living here. There are certain known things about Indian tenants that landlord have to accept. The way and the type of cooking they do and smell they leave behind. And usually kitchen appliances would not be able to be re-use for the subsequent tenants. Even the fridge , washing machine etc might have to be replaced. Hygiene and good house keeping, could also be an issue from them, as having a good, well kept place, up to acceptable standard in Singapore, is unlike those in Mumbai!😆😆😆😆😆

Times are changing. Though in the past Indians were dirty, it doesn’t seem to be the case now. And the smell sticking to the appliances is a myth. I rented out my flat to Indian workers , and when they left I went to inspect. Definitely some items spoiled but after I had everything professionally cleaned no more spice smell.
