I’m always stuck in art block and never think my art is good. Sometimes to try to give me a spark of creativity I look through my old sketchbooks. Then I realize how good my art is now compared to my old art

Here’s some advice- When I can’t think of any character designs, or what to draw, I use “wheel of names” and put things like colors, outfit styles, hairstyles, objects, and whichever the wheel picks, I have to mash up all the things the wheel picked into something good. You should try it!

I love redraws! They're so fun and inspiring to see! I'm planning to redraw one of my pieces from when I was 15 (I'm 27 now), so this video came at the perfect time to help me feel inspired to do that, haha! I especially liked the last piece. I think it's good to allow oneself that type of freedom when redrawing. To change things like the pose or little details. I think it makes it all the more fun! ☺️

Ooh wow you did great, nice improvements! I think straying from the original piece is definitely ok, and I prefer it sometimes tbh! It goes to show how your artistic vision and sensibilities have grown as well. The decision to make the pose more fluid is something you probably didn't even think about or notice in the first one. That in itself is an improvement! The composition, flow, energy/emotion, style, anatomy, etc are all contributing factors to art after all, and they can all improve and change :]

AHHH! I remember watching your first sketchbook tour video. I can't believe how long ago that was! I especially remember the Jester drawing and absolutely loved it! When it showed up on the thumbnail I gasped and instantly remember seeing it for the first time. I love when the artists I admire use traditional art instead of digital. Digital art truly makes drawing easier, but I always wonder what their traditional art looks like, since you can do all sorts of neat stuff when using a computer, that you won’t learn when you drawing in a sketch book. When i sketched with pens in school i used to use a green pen first and then go over it with a dark blue one to kinda like get a sketch and lineart process into it, it looks pretty cool when its done and your sketch with the green pen works as shading pretty much, good for getting thru lessons im bored in lmfao Also a good way to practice line confidence!

Some things things i love about ballpoint pens because my uncle got me a ⭐professinal⭐ ballpoint pen😼; Pen pressure If you cant erase it you have to transform it Blue one feels and smells so good for some reason I become more creative with the ballpoint and sketch a lot with them They are affordable as long as you dont buy a Faber Castell set or something You can find them everywhere Theres even versions you can erase the ink And the list goes on..(a lot😭)

You've really improved, even since i started watching your videos, it's really cool to see :D also, i do wanna point this out but its kind of unsolicited critique/advice so feel 100% free to just not read this^^ i noticed that you seem not to have a lot of line confidence, like during your sketch you kinda do that "chicken scratch" thing where you draw lines over and over again (like,, you even draw the guidelines a whole bunch of times to make them perfect) or instead of one long smooth line draw a bunch of short ones if u know what i mean? and during the lineart too (although its really not noticable there, it looks very smooth) and this actually kinda ties in with something you pointed out yourself a while ago (if i remember correctly) which is that you have trouble making your art more dynamic and less stiff I think if you kept your sketches a little looser and practiced line confidence that could really help! I had the same issue for the longest time and still kinda do so i know its based in perfectionism, what helped me was stuff like contour drawing or entirely drawing without a sketch or even those "drawing with one line" challenges. It won't look pretty most of the time but it definitely will help haha

Your art looks really good. Just a side thing I’ve wanted to make a sketch book but I (1) don’t draw very consistently or constantly and (2) I usually have an easier time with digital art, so I have never really gotten around to dedicating a sketch book for myself. Though if I’m bored enough I might make sketch book (Which is what leads to me making most of my projects, boredom) but I doubt it.

The pen you used for the second artwork is one of my favorite pens. (Pilot G2) also it is a ball point pen but it’s also a jel pen, so it won’t go down light as much as regular ball point pens. Oop

Okay for the link one my personal like opinion is that I like the old ones hair, the hair on the old one makes it feel like its link but the new one gives it too much of a anime feel and doesnt give me link vibes, like if you showed me that new one I could never have said it was link, I could’ve thought it was your own character but if you had shown me the old one then I would have said it was link. The old one has its downside due to the hood being too big but you can actually see the ear. On the new one you can’t see it due to the hood being fixed and it makes him look like hes a normal human being. But thats my opinion on the two, I do like your art overall.😊
