Aside from Hogger in Elwynn, this zone was an absolute training ground for "elite" quests. Alliance cut our teeth here for group quests and basic party mechanics -- pulling, tanking, ranged DPS. What a treasure this game and its music was.

I remember flying around Azeroth the day of the Cataclysm pre-patch. I went to Redridge and heard the music at 21:50. It struck a chord with me as I really realized how the world, and the game was irrevocably changed forever. That memory has only become more powerful in time, because back then I didn't realize just how far the game really had changed, and how much it would continue to change until it barely resembled itself anymore. I feel like the same could be applied to myself in some ways. The evolution of this game is just one big metaphor for growing up, or something....
@Kohoute2 жыл бұрын
This zone makes me feel sad everytime I hear the music, because I played wow for the first time and I had a 3 month card subscription and I met a Night Elf female mage I think, who showed me around and helped me to get my first shoulder gear, we were talking a lot, she said she was a student in some university I think in Poland, when our last night we were fighting orc boss in Stonewatch Keep, it was so late at night, I said that i think it is my last time, i may not see you tomorow because my time run`s out, we said our goodbyes, but hoped that i was wrong about it and that we would meet the next day... Sadly the time in Azeroth came to an end for me and we never met again. It was in my early 15th , now I am 29.. back then I did not have any money to continue with something like a video game where you pay each month.. then after a good while my account with my first characters full of memory got lost when Blizzard changed everything in Cataclysm. This is crazy how such a small and virtual thing can bring real sadness and nostalgia over times that happend over a decade ago and to this day I still wonder, what if I only had a bit more time in that world, what if I came back the next morning... this feeling makes me sad, like something unfulfilled. Thank`s for reading my story and take care!

So when I bought warcraft (it was still sold in a box back then) I started as an undead. Played to level 50. Then I decided to create a human rogue on a pvp server (deathwing). Get to level 10 or so arrive in red ridge, stop to read the road sign... I turn around and there is this fully geared undead mage watching me. His armor somehow made black actually glow. He didn't kill me... he sheeped me over and over for about 30min, then left. I avoided road signs ever since. Haven't played for years, but occasionally I miss it. Thank you for this. See the road sign where "the great sheep attack" occured at 7:15

This is my favorite zone music in the game. It takes me back to the ought's. As someone that preferred solo play, this was the first zone in my alliance playthrough (I started as Horde, but changed servers and faction for a group of new friends later in life) that really gave me hardships and allowed me to grow as that character. I realized how much I relied on my Orc Warrior's ability to tank compared to my pathetic gnome wizard's health pool.

One of my best WoW memories came from here playing with my friend who has now passed away. We were leveling new characters right as TBC came out, me a shaman him a warrior. We were waiting to do the escort quest from deep inside the cave, it took a long time for the NPC to respawn. A druid comes out of stealth and we ask him if he wants to group, he says no and immediately accepts the quest solo and refused to group. My friend aggrod about 10 orcs and ran it straight to the escort. My friend, the NPC and the druid all died. I ressed my friend, and we ran into the cave and took the quest while that druid was corpse running.

Gah.. I said I wouldn't play WoW again. I quit years ago, but with Classic becoming closer and closer I'm very tempted. I never played vanilla, I started plaing when TBC released. So there's also that curiosity. I've played many mmo's since then, but have never stuck with anything anywhere near as long as WoW. I know nostalgia plays a huge part, as I can't for the life of me understand what made/makes WoW so special. Other mmos are superior in every obvious way - except for the music. I'm starting to think that it's the 'simplicity' of it, both game play and graphical. That's not to say it doesn't have a high skill ceiling, but that, for the most part, it's just a slow paced experience, or it can be if you so choose. I've started to keep myself away from gaming recently, as it's all to fast paced for me in terms of graphics and effect. It gives me a proper headache!.. guess that comes with age, that sounded so old haha. There's that and I choose not to wear my glasses when I really should. I'm kinda going off on one here, so I'll stop myself.. I really want to play WoW again ;p

If you have the time, you should totally at least give it a try! I'm pretty over modern games, myself - everything common is jam packed with monetization schemes or psychological traps. It's really given me mental fatigue. I can't wait to get back to something as simple, calm, and soothing as Vanilla WoW was - truly a great experience regardless of thd kind of person you are.
