You slowed the video at 1:27 😂 I remember that road; it usually or always lags there. You brought back memories!

I have never played the pre-release so this was very interesting! Looking forward to part 2 :)

I think the slowdown on the PS1 version was due to a rushed release. But i never cared much, because Driver 2 was still in a much better state than Driver 3 by release. Driver 3 reminded me of a early alpha build. In Driver 2 i had fun exploring bugs. For example when you make a big jump and left the car mid air, the collision control in your area stopped working for a while. All cars would fall through the ground and do crazy stuff.

This is fascinating, I don't think I mind the clipping issues nor the slowdowns. To have Driver 2 on the PC is a dream. As are these beta / prototype missions from the prerelease. Good stuff.

A couple of things I want to point out on truck to the lockup. The first being that it’s not just speculation that it would have continued from hijack the truck but rather the mission has a script setup to save your previous car damage and location from the last mission. And second you could have used the dev version of redriver2’s cheat menu and used ghost car to drive the truck in the lockup. Also Havana day and night and Rio night also have different starting locations in take a ride. Otherwise good video Vortex.

Interesting! I watched Hijack the truck in the prerelease version and it does feature the second part of driving back the truck so I was unsure of the state of "Truck the lock up"!
@Comando52Colton3 жыл бұрын
@@VortexStory Well as of the pre-release date of the game hijack the truck was finished so it no longer ended where it used to, to resume for the next mission. Also the script is actually in Truck to the lockup's script not hijack the truck. It basically just saves your car model, damage and position from the previous mission's last frame.

I would love to have "Lose the Cops" in the final version just for the fact you play at night with Day music playing.

How do you access these missions in ReDriver2?
@cobrathibok3 жыл бұрын
Finalement ces missions n’étaient pas vraiment nécessaires et intéressantes pour le scénario comme le gameplay, donc c’est une bonne chose qu’elles ne soient pas dans la version finale d’après moi 👍

Are these missing missions already at Re Driver 2? Is it possible to play the pre-release through PS1 emulator and what is the best link for that to get it ?

How can you play these missions in ReDriver 2?
@VortexStory2 жыл бұрын
You need the prerelease files, then use scripts to load a specifc mission number as they are "hidden" in the main menu... From what I remember

@@VortexStory i know that with AltMod pack you can play them without any problem, tho I don't know in which folder should I put them for the missions to work

Driver 2, and maybe 1 and 3, would have been better off with much more much easier missions. Sure thing I suck at it, but Havana mission 2 3 and 4 are waaayyy too hard than most of the rest of the missions. The game would have been much more atmospheric, much more about the story, and much less excruciating. I know that devs were constrained too much with deadlines, but still most of the things, that would have made the game complete would need no more than 2 weeks.
@VortexStory2 жыл бұрын
Well I think that even with more development time, the results would have stayed the same in terms of difficulty because the goal was to challenge the players. It was the "mentality" of that period of games, without players testing during dev. You can see the difference with Driver San Francisco which is much easier and user friendly. The best would be adaptative AI and objectives, so "hardcore" player are challenged and "casual" can still enjoy the game as a narrative experience!

@@VortexStory Yes, I am not covering at all all the possible game design tools to make this fit all levels without a central difficulty setting, since they would time let's say at least 2 months with the game design in that time. Also this mentality is the reason why older people are so scared of games :D
