I have had one for years and only just discovered yesterday you can change tuning/pitch and echo on each drum! All you need to do is double tap the arrow right button and keep on pressing it to get all these good features!
@NeilPaddock4 жыл бұрын
It has a lot of useful features that reward patience and reading the manual, like playing along with another drummer or just a bass guitar riff on it's own, time-keeping indicators (that tell you if you are rushing or dragging, you know - "Not quite my tempo" (as in Whiplash)) and tuning. But you can also just stick in in the back of your car, head off, plug it in at the venue and off you go. Real plug N Play.

Thank you so much Neil. I wanted to know exactly what sounds were in that kit and mow I do. It's perfect for my needs. Now it's time to find a set in good condition! Thank you. :)

+ERIC F Thanks for the feedback Eric. I'm glad you found it useful. It's a nice kit -although getting it to sound good live will take a reasonable amp or pa. They do sound great through a good set of headphones. Good luck with it. : )

Thank you Neil for demonstrating it. It is very interesting. I personally love the Latin Percussion

Thanks for your comment Paul. There are certainly a good range of varied sounds on this kit. Plus it's relatively easy to transport, compared to a conventional drum kit.

Great Drum Set 🎺
@NeilPaddock4 жыл бұрын
Thanks for your comment Matthew. It is functional to use live, and has some reasonable drum sounds. You can also fold down the pads and lift up the whole rack to put it in the back of a small hatchback. I found it's best to put it through a PA, otherwise you run the risk of a back injury from carrying heavy amplifiers about. That's speaking from experience. I saved myself the hassle of lugging my fibre glass drums about with this kit, and then carried a larger amp to a venue instead and tried lifting it out of the car on my own. On reflection, it should have been a two man lift. Live and learn.

Hi, i am having problems with the sounds comming out of my dtxplorer.. is there a way toninstall mew fresh ones? I would like more natural sounds comming out of my kit. Thx
@NeilPaddock4 жыл бұрын
Sotiris, firstly, there is no way I am aware of to directly replace the onboard sounds in dtxplorer. It may be possible with models that have come out since. However, you can use the kit itself as a trigger and use the pads to play other sounds through midi. You will need a midi cable like the Yamaha UX-16, and a midi keyboard or a DAW (like Reaper - Check out Kenny Gioia's videos), and some sounds from a virtual instrument (Google best free drum plugins or VSTs). You also need to change the midi mapping so the kick drum plays a kick drum, snare plays a snare, etc. Good Luck!

can this drum kit be used to trigger samples from a computer or other patches from a sound module? and would there be any latency?
@NeilPaddock5 жыл бұрын
Sorry for the delay in replying. You can trigger samples, and there can be latency. Use ASIO drivers to reduce latency. Midi mapping can be fiddly. I used it with Reason and a custom midi mapper by Ed Bauman (AKA EditEd4TV) of Bauman Productions. It's doable with a little persistence. With sound modules it depends on the midi implementation.

Is the DTXplorer module compatible with DTX400 series drum sets
@NeilPaddock4 жыл бұрын
I spoke to a Yamaha Sales rep about this a few years back. My impression was that the DTX400 module can be bought to supercede/replace the DTXplorer module so it a new "brain unit" should work with the old pads. But do check before buying and laying out any cash. I am not sure if the pads between the kits are interchangeable.

@@NeilPaddock Hi Neil. I pick up a Yamaha dtxpress 3 on Sunday. It's a 6pc kit with the extra floor tom. Very good condition. It's going in the living room in the corner. After years of acoustic I am looking forward to the change.

How do you get the sound so we can hear it or do we need to use headphones?
@NeilPaddock4 жыл бұрын
You can use it with headphones or plug it into an amplifier or soundcard (I use a Focusrite Saffire 6 USB) using standard guitar leads, in mono (L) or stereo (R).
