It’s a song called Milk by Moderat!
@MatchstickMan5 жыл бұрын
This is so different from Pogo's usual style, and it's really forced me to compare. Like, honestly, this to me articulates anger. Like, as if Pogo made this because he was mad and had to get it out somehow. The use of The Shining in particular, the heavier focus on percussion, the solo, echoed piano tones creating a sense of isolation, the guitar creating a sound of nervousness, the use of Jack screaming "Danny," to create fear, the background synth samples creating an ambient tension, and finally the axe swings making up the main backbeat. it all just comes together and really makes me thing this song was made out of a dark place and feelings of anger. But through all of it, the upshift in the "Play with us, Danny" and "All the dried goods and the-" brings out some slight resemblance of his normal, brighter style, cementing that is still his, even if it came from a mindset different than his other songs. Even if I'm wrong, the fact that all of that could be articulated into emotions so vividly and clearly, shows that Pogo is a true artistic genius.

True Linsel, I think he uses a lot of ambient layering (which i looooove) and also how he uses the voices, but it could also be his music programs. I was about to say that the song reminds me of Bucephalus Bouncing Ball by Aphex
@therealquade6 жыл бұрын
I was thinking windowlicker, or come to daddy but without the distortion. To really be Aphex twin, all that percussion needs some saturation and clipping and the voices need highpassed and distorted with fuzz. then it'd be some proper aphex twin.

This actually feels like it's in the same spirit as the movie itself. I'm not even kidding - I feel the same emotions here as I feel whenever I watch the movie. Confused. Unnerved. Unsettled. I absolutely love your approach with this one. Just like the film itself, you start slowly building tension until the amazing, epic crescendo loop and then into final conclusion of the track. It feels like a complete musical experience that makes me want to listen again and again. Very well done!

As a subscriber and long time fan for almost a decade now, you still continue to amaze me! The editing and musical composition so closely conveys the deeply disturbing mood of The Shining in your tribute. I really want to thank you for continuing to make your art, through all the ups and downs of your career. Every time I see a new notification for a Pogo song, I always feel so much excitement and immediately fall into my admitted habit of playing your music over and over. Thank you for another brilliant music video, now my favorite next to Data & Picard.

Honestly, these are the Pogo songs I love the most: -It takes a movie or other type of media and captures the overall EMOTION of it. -It only uses sounds within the media, along with some necessary instruments. -It takes memorable moments from the media and gives them a whole new feeling (In this case, for me, it’s “Play with us, Danny”) I admire Pogo’s other work, but these elements got me hooked on his music in the first place, and this one is particularly impressive, even by his standards. I give it a perfect 10!
