Absolutely true to the VP fuel issue. I ran in my 5R using byrons and nothing but and my piston top was always clean as a new nickel....ran 1 quart of VP and all that cleanliness went to shit....fall time came got cold during that quart of VP so i stopped running for 2 weeks and my engine gummed up to point of no return wouldn't run idle for shit. I ran in a tank of the bones brew and instantly the fuel acted as a cleaner cleaning all the unwanted oil residue. Now been sitting all winter long and my crank bounces back and forth better than new and that piston top from what i can see looks like new again. Its all in the oil packages these fuel companies use. Bones brew uses same nitromethane CH3N02 VP uses just different oil additives.

SWEET I finally found a channel with fingerboarding and RC! Just like mine… Subbed! I’m more into the crawlers, but I was really close to getting a Kyosho Mini Inferno nitro.

I know this is an older video but what is the total shim gap your using?
@dilloncaldwell7156Ай бұрын
@@gainsrc reds sets the gap to whatever they set it to.. on each engine before they ship out. From what I’ve heard. I know that sounds ignorant. I can’t remember what that spec is in mm’s but most of my engines have come with 2 shims. Some have come with 3.

Sweet thanks for making that! What Air Filter cover is that ? How often do you change the Conrod?
@dilloncaldwell71563 жыл бұрын
The airflilter cover was made by team sr. Sadly they aren't in business anymore. But its basically a spandex material. I replace it every 4 gallons or so.

How would you compare this to the Reds R5R V4.0 in the tuning department? I have both havent ran my 721 yet but think the 5R is pretty easy to tune.
@dilloncaldwell71564 жыл бұрын
I have never owned a r5r but I have tuned a few. I would say the 721 is easier because (at least for me) you don't have to try and reach for the top end that you want with the 721, where as the r5r, seems to not want to give you that FULL top end that I would want without really tinkering with it. But, I am a racer who tries to get every little bit of power I can get out of an engine.. The people who have the r5r that have me tune for them, don't have any complaints with it when I just put a basic tune on it, using this videos tips. So with that being said, the whole easier or harder to tune the top end might not apply for you, depending on how much top end you like.
@detroitrcwurks9984 жыл бұрын
@@dilloncaldwell7156 well the 5R dosen't really strike me as a race engine anyways. More of a basher practice engine maybe. I been saving my 721 for the track and am expecting alot more out of it than the 5R. But for now im just bashing so the 5R is perfect entry engine to get back into the groove. Good to know i started with bit harder tuning engine. Gotta start with the hard ones first. Also i would expect higher notes from a 7 port compared to a 5. Good to know thanks my dude for sharing your years experience with me!!

Does anybody know to factory carb settings for the gen 2 pro version of this engine?

Sorry for the late response. I’m almost 100% curtain that it’s low end 3 tuns out from fully in. Top end 3.5 turns out from fully in. Idle 0.7mm open. Mid range just BARLEY out from flush.

Any high idle issues?
@dilloncaldwell7156Ай бұрын
@@MrBoomtheroom can happen. If so, try richening the engine up a bit. If the engine is old, may just have low compression and hard to get the low idle back

Any idea why my car is running sooo inconsistent? , idle gap .5mm bottom needle as lean as i can go without raising the idle so its too fast.. top end runs as high as it can without over hanging the revs coming back down. Just wont hold a consistent idle. kzbin.infolbzisG6j21k?feature=share

It is. That's normal if you use VP fuel for some reason. I normally run it at 285 degrees F. that's where I feel it performs the best.
