Excellent and very helpful video! Thanks so much. Which of the resolution choices were you using in your great sample videos and which fps choice? I did buy this but in my copy the battery would not charge. The red charging LED blinked on and then off when it was connected to power and I always had to re-enter the date and time. I returned that one and ordered another and fully expect not to have the same issue with it. As you point out in your video, this battery is actually potentially critical to the purpose of the product -- If you do have a serious collision that results in loss of power to the device, without any battery the last 3 minute clip might not be saved, and it is that clip that is most important in documenting the surrounding circumstances. I fully agree with your thought that this product delivers a lot of value for the price. I especially like the smart phone WiFi interface both for on-site display of recorded video to law enforcement in the event of a collision and for firmware updates. I think it's a great value for $50. And thanks again for your excellent review.

just few short questions: 1. is there any time gap between sequential video files? 2. how ADAS works? will it make loud enough sound when event happens?

there doesn't seem to be any gap. Videos are 3 min long. If you have music on you won't hear the camera talking. I don't find ADAS very useful

Actually ADAS is for long distance which drivers that going thousands of miles on the way.it is keeping you away from accident.so may be you can sleep on the board when you drive.and when you are going out of line it is saying you that dont sleep go ahead)

you could but the internal battery will keep it on for just a few minutes...maybe with a power bank...

if you hard wire it to your car's battery it should. The battery should be able to keep it going over night

It will not record when off unless you use a power bank and such but even so, you might have an issue with looking through many videos because there is no parking mode or motion detection.

@@bodilyfunctions 12v input is what I assume to be your cigarette port? If yes, the cam will off when your engine is off unless your car has constant power to the cigarette port. Hardwiring is when you buy a kit and plug them into the car fuse box, allowing the camera to work even when your engine is off. However in this case, there is not much point as this camera does not support parking mode.

Hi, i know its been some time but just in case anyone else is searching for an answer : no, it does not have parking mode or motion detection. This is a simple, plug and play, almost barebones dash cam.

Thanks for the sample footage. I was going to buy one of these, will go with another option that's half the price instead. :) It's marginally better than other china-sourced dash cams, and equally awfull @ low light conditions. I guess there's no dash cam that perform decently @ low light yet...

Hi, there is not magic to zooming, you will definitely encounter pixelation or "fuzziness" when you zoom in.

you cannot. The camera makes a wifi network, and you connect to that network with your phone. Nobody else can see that

I don't know about others but my Xiaomi Yi dashcam without power source(on battery inside it) lasts only about 10 seconds.

The internal battery is rather small and its job is to maintain settings such as your date besides making sure the last video gets saved after you off your car engine. If the job is done, I see no reason for it to remain on anymore.

If anyone knows please help. I have ordered this cam (international version). After couple of days I have realized that it records only first 3 min after that nothing, there is no videos. Until the next start records nothing. What could be causing such an issue?

Have you managed to sort this issue out? You could try a different memory card (endurance versions are preferred) Also use the original charger and cables, do ensure everything is plugged in correctly.

Too bad Xiaomi has POOR website, I mean I've ordered Xiaomi Yi DVR(international) a week ago, only the find out there's a 2.7K version, a Xiaomi Yi DVR SE(second edition?) ...Xiaomi Yi DVR 70 steps, Xiaomi MiJia and others ....I have NO clue about details of each product but surely xiaomi has poor website and you can't find lots of information about these items :D
