As much as I "love" the family of begonias, I have never propagated any of them. Soon, I will try to apply your propagation techniques to my efforts. Each year, I usually plant 30-40 begonias Into a designated area. They grow from May to November with flowers attached. They are composted when the season is over. You have given me the encouragement to try to retain and propagate these plants. In my area in North America, our winters are freezing. Therefore, I have concentrated on having a perennial garden of plants, shrubs and trees that show up in their own season. My Begonias and Cannas are always included annuals. This year, I have increased my Canna varieties with the intention of propagation for next year's planting season. Thank you!

Hi Bertha, thanks for sharing. Amazing about your Begonia. Yes you can propagate them and actually I find propagating Begonia is one of the easiest of all propagation. Both water and Rhizome propagation is good but I find the rhizome works faster. As with Canna, take the time to clean them divide them and start your overwinter preparation then next season you will have abundance.

Awesome video thanks, that what I needed to know. I have a couple lovely bright green ones and didn't know how to care for them besides not overwatering.

I love Begonias and especially these rhizomatous begonias. They are so easy to propagate and the foliage is amazing. Happy that the episode was helpful.

Beautiful video, thank you :) Do you put any rooting hormone when propagating stems without nodes?
@redsoilgardener4 ай бұрын
Hi Kelly, I hardly ever use rooting Hormone. I believe why propagation works here could be because our temperatures are always above 20 degrees Celsius and plants need warmth and light in order to propagate. However, do use rooting hormone if it increases the propagate rate. I am all for it.
