I'm in the same boat. I wish teachers would take time to make sure they choose the best text on the subject. The only constant reference I have is the book, and the book we are using has such poor and hard to digest conceptual explanations that it's really hard to know what's going on.

Love your vids! Like how you take the time to explain everything in detail. Also, you are great at showing all your steps. Many teachers don't treat their students like beginners, and I find it frustrating when lots of hand waving is going on, but you really take the extra time to show your work, and it helps me understand a ton. Congrats on the new baby! Hope your able to crank out some vids in the next couple months. If you have any personal suggestions for another KZbinr who tackles this material I'd love to get your opinion. I need something to keep up with my class this semester. Thanks again! You're awesome!

Hello Leonard! Man,I got to tell you,I saw the equation that you start at about 23:49 and I was looking at it and was like lets multiple all with x,so we get a chain rule on the left side. And like, okay, you will do the same, and then YOU DIDN'T! I was like professor Leonard, did I just saw something you didn't? I was so proud of myself for seeing that, and I had to write a comment on it. Thank you for doing all of these videos, from calculus 1,to these videos. I passed one subject because of you,and am preparing for the next one. It's a shame that you didn't do partial differential equations yet,but i'm really glad you did at least 1st order diff. eq. I hope you see this comment and maybe even reply, because I would really love for you to know that you help people all around the globe! Cheers from Serbia! :) P.S: Sorry for the long comment professor,I tried to make it short but couldn't. Best of luck to you sir,and keep these videos coming. :)

43:50 Wouldn't it have been simpler to say p = -1/(x+c) instead of p=1/(-x+c)? That leads to a cleaner solution that doesn't have a -x in the log.

I love your videos Professor, but your casual mixing of Leibniz and prime notation is maddening, and you do it in a single equation. dy/dx = P and y'' = dP/dx. Really? How about y' = P and y'' = P' or dy/dx = P and d2y/dx2 = dP/dx? I'm a supporter on Patreon. I might suggest sticking with Leibniz's notation because it is alway clear what the independent variable is.

I am studying partial differential equations at the moment, and I would consider that a fairly advanced course - probably not something that you would teach at a community college. It involves a lot of complicated crap like Hilbert Spaces and weight functions etc, and one single problem takes like 20 minutes to solve sometimes. The easiest PDE technique is without a doubt Separation Of Variables, which involves replacing a function u(x,t) by defining it as u(x,t) = X(x)*T(t) --- in other words, a function that is the product of a function of x and a function of t --- then putting that equation into the original equation and separating the functions of x and t, and then setting them equal to each other. And since they are equal to each other and depend on their own variables, they must both be constant and thus equal to the same constant, so you turn both of them into ODEs and solve each of them separately by checking the cases when the constant is less than 0, equal to 0 and greater than 0, to figure out what the constant needs to be. Might sound tedious, but it's relatively easy once you got the hang of it.
