I hope you see this comment and know that you just saved my reputation. Had a big job recently and we were filming in the harsh mid-day sun run/gun. I had some difficult decisions to make and running on 90mins sleep some of the shots came out awful. I tried your method and the shots came out amazing. I'm now sending these to the client for edit but just want to send my sincere gratitude for such short, easy and well explained method.

I dig it, definitely going to try this on future grades. Really simple but brilliant way of using the contrast tool

Will keep this in my toolbox 😀Does this theory can apply on base light also?

Yes mate, you can do the same thing with the contrast and pivot in Baselight 😊

@@lukerosspost Yes I have a bunch of blown out skies to fix - this should do the trick nicely

You can see the histogram right there. Why not pull the ends in and spread out the levels so you have deep blacks and strong whites that way?

Thanks for the comment! There's a lot of different ways to achieve a similar result in Resolve, using the contrast and pivot tool is just one method 🙂

Thanks a lot for the trick. An alternative to this technique is using the Highlights in the second page of the Primary Wheel. This technique is more gentle to reducing over exposure shots than using the contrast and pivot technique. This is because the Highlights doesn't touch the shadows, and does little touch in the mid range than the combination of contrast and Pivot does.
