Hey! On the bottom left corner of the viewer, there should be a dropdown icon menu. If you can't see your power window, make sure to click this dropdown and select Power Windows 😃

Hi Luke. Do you happen to know if baselight has any automated dust / digital dust / stuck pixel detection options, or is it entirely manual? Thanks!

@lukerosspost2 ай бұрын
Hey! These packs are designed to work with specific Stream Deck units. In this case, the pack is compatible with the Stream Deck Plus! The pack doesn't interface with your monitor, just the Stream Deck software 🙂

That's a clever use of parallel nodes. Personally, I prefer to do any secondaries after the exposure and white balance, not in a parallel that is feeding from the original source, so that I have maximum colour separation before I get into any qualifications (if needed). Then, at the end of my Clip node tree, I have a dedicated node for 'Shot Matching' so if anything is off, I don't go back to the initial balance and exposure, I just do it in a node at the end.
@lukerosspost3 ай бұрын
Marieta - yes, that's a really great workflow! It personally takes me a few passes to lock in my initial normalisation and balance tweaks throughout a grade, so I put up with having a slightly flatter source image unless I'm struggling to pull a satisfactory key. I always love being able to go back to my first normal/balance adjustments and tweak 😊

Thank you so much for sharing your process, Luke. I love your teaching style and I also watch your content on Mixing Light. I always learn something new in every video! May I ask a quick question - when exporting to Quicktime DNxHR 444 12-bit, have you noticed there is a gamma shift when the graded file is imported back to Premiere Pro? For context, I'm on Windows too. And to my knowledge, Premiere interprets DNxHR 444 12-bit in full data levels, when in fact they should be video. Personally, I haven't been able to solve this and I use Quicktime Uncompressed YUV 422 10-bit or DNxHR HQ as a workaround. I'm keen to hear your thoughts knowing you're an absolute technical wizard. Thanks a million!
@lukerosspost3 ай бұрын
Hey, thanks for the thoughtful comments Marieta! I always appreciate hearing that people are enjoying the content that I put out. Simple answer: yes, I have stumbled upon this issue myself! DNxHR-HQ is my current workaround, so we're on the same page I think... I haven't had the time to explore it further, but it is on my list. Glad to hear it's not just me 😂

Navigating to the first, middle and last frame is the quickest experience that I've had conforming in Resolve. It does depend a little bit on the type of project that you're working on, but I work on a fair bit of documentary content. Talking head shots (interview shots) are so fast using my method 😁 at the end of the day though, it's definitely personal preference!

That is an interesting idea - I have jumped like that using active playhead markers, but that takes a liitle more effort but - you are able to park each on any frame - so if you want to have something comparable - placing the active playheads is more accurate. But I like this as well for use as described.

I ran scene cut detection and it made a million little cuts that I don't want. I don't want to manually delete points. How do I RESET the Scene Cut Detection for a video file??
@lukerosspost7 ай бұрын
Hey! Adjusting the pink line upwards will reduce the amount of cuts in the file, so that's a great first step. If you've already clicked "Add Cuts to Media Pool" you can use Ctrl+Z to undo this action. There's no way to "reset" all of the marks, you can only manually delete points 👍🏼
@PTFWWDB7 ай бұрын
@@lukerosspost I did Scene Detect on a file that had transitions and it ended up making a million cuts, manually erasing them would take over an hour, so that sucks that there is no Reset function or anything, using After Effects
@lukerosspost7 ай бұрын
@@PTFWWDB The shortcut keys are "N" (next) "P" (previous) and if you use them with the "-" key (delete) you can trim tens of cuts in a few seconds. Transitions should be generally be supplied as separate files though, you may need to go back to editorial and ask them to supply you the footage with handles!

Do you colour grade animated works? Because from what I understand animated shows/films are colour graded to match the gamut of the projector being used and less for style.
@lukerosspost8 ай бұрын
Hey! I haven't graded that many animated films, but the same principles and rules of colour management and colour grading apply 😊 there's a lot you can to do enhance the grade of an animated film. For example, I watched a colourist use power windows to add shadows from light sources while grading animated films, really fine detail work!

Unless something has changed in Premiere you’d need to force DNxHR444 to Full Levels for Premiere to interpret them correctly.

First go to resolve project settings>color management> video monitor lookup table> choose Rec709 to Dci p3. Do your trim pass. After trim pass turn off that settings. Not need to change your ODT..

@lukerosspost9 ай бұрын
Networking and gaining clients can come in lots of different ways. I always recommend reaching out to local video production agencies in your area and introducing yourself. It's great to go grab a coffee without an agenda and get to know what their needs are. Online works well too though, as this video demonstrates! There's a few great film and screen production Facebook groups here in New Zealand and that's where I posted the message for this specific video. I'm not a huge Facebook fan, but it's a great tool sometimes.

Hello Luke, i love your channel and the way you share your knowledge. I would like to share a tip with you, maybe you already know it. If you scene cut detect in mediapool it creates a lot of sub clip, but if you remove them and instead drag and drop the native clip, it will relink all the offline cuts on this only media.
