I began organ lessons when I was twelve years old. I studied under Dr. Richard M. Peek at The Covenant Presbyterian Church in Charlotte, North Carolina. He was one of the world's great hymnists. I have spent so much time trying to play hymns as he did. You have the makings of a great hymnist and organist. Thank you and God bless in Jesus' name and for His sake, for He is worthy. Amen

In his novel "The Idiot" by Dostoevsky, a character asks: "What beauty will save the world?" I think that, maybe not the whole world, but with this video, you've saved some souls!

I can feel that organ bench vibrating. Whatever the downside of KZbin, this only goes to prove how it can be used for a positive purpose. Talent is a gift, but to perfect it requires hours of hard work. The pleasure your playing brings to people is a reflection of that effort.

Just a compilation of the world's most beautiful hymns! Have been looking for this kind of 'simple' recordings for months and you just uploaded them here. I'm a jazz musician and started playing church organ only recently but this is so magnificent. If only I could play like this in a few years. Luckily I have the keys to the Pelgrim father's church in Rotterdam so I can go there any time to practice and study! Thank you for this great video! Instant favorite.

What makes you a complete organist is the standard of your hymn playing which is the first and foremost ingredient of a true organist. You are playing with reverence and dignity and the tempo and legato touch are perfect. You are playing the words and varying the registration between verses, something which is sometimes sadly overlooked by some organists. I always find having a Christian faith gives you the inspiration to play hymns, which are prayers. You are a complete star, Matt and I am sure you receive so many compliments. I am certainly complimenting you to the highest degree as you are a shining example of what any potential church organist show aim for. You will receive many blessings for praising God with your music in this video because it is form of evangelism.

I have always loved to play traditional hymns on the pipe organ just like this young fellow does, but unfortunately when I moved to Guadalajara Mexico 25 years ago, sadly i discovered there are only a few pipe organs in the churches here. The one I like the most is in the Expiatorio Church. The priests here are poorly educated, ignorant with no appreciation for music and they hate gringos. So after years of begging to practice the organ, it was a losing battle. I managed to sneak one five minute video of me playing in the Expiatorio church. With not having been able to practice for so many years, I was only able to make a poor video of my playing: kzbin.info/www/bejne/g6LMg6V3m82didE .

2:43 - Wacky edit. Editor should have had the previous ring out overlap the registration change. All the reverb was cut off. Impossible in nature. Dude, have your editor NOT chop of the reverb ring outs OR alt least put a fade and NOT chop them off. Very disruptive. 17:38 - What the... LOUSY edit. Once again, the residual reverb is lost. Listen to the ring out of the phrase the WHAM, GONE! Perhaps on your next recording just play the preceding phrase, registration change, and pick up from there. OR if you know you're going to do an edit here, let the phrase ring out and play it UNDER the edit to give a sense of realism. OH MY GOD - Let the music ring out, stop chopping off the reverb ring outs.
