Nobunaga already has several games following his story, which I'm not sure why they choose a main SW game to represent that even further. They should have just followed the story around everyone, like all previous titles just adding characters and actually improving the gameplay. It just feels like that slap SW4 and OPPW4 together while removing mechanics that 4 had. SW5 just feels like a downgrade

Unlike Liu Bei and Cao Cao, Liu Bei is a leader who follows Cao Cao, and Cao Cao is an assassin who stabs leaders in the back! He was saved many times by the power of luck alone, and eventually his kingdom fell to the traitors of Jin.

1:54 -- Hideyoshi here. He changed his name from Tokichiro Kinoshita to Hideyoshi Hashiba then to Hideyoshi Toyotomi, the same with Motoyasu Matsudaira changed to Ieyasu Tokugawa For the rest, that maybe when the focus is on Ieyasu's life so we can see them along with Ieyasu's older version

I'm hoping they add more of the original roster back in as DLC, if they really can't do a free update. Some of the characters removed existed during Nobunaga's time, so it doesn't make sense they're gone. At the very least I hope they create "mature" versions of the characters. I'm not fond of everyone looking like a pretty boy, and Tadakatsu is far from the beast he use to be.

After playing this game for around 15 or so hours. I actually really enjoy this over some more recent entries despite it's small size. Even though characters don't get their own weapons, each movelist for each weapon is really fun and unique. Each character unique moves are there ad a little personal spin that makes it stand out. The plot also has some melodrama that makes it a more coherent story and give Nobunaga and Mitsuhide some character arcs.

The weapons was a turn off for me, experience it in DW. Could have gave them their unique weap and then one alternative that's unique also, rather than sharing. For a current warrior game the roster is small, so two unique moveset wouldn't be overload.

@@icantbelieveitsnotbutter8851 same as me, this is the biggest turn off for me, i cant believe one weapon/fighting style used by many characters. the originality n uniqueness of character is no longer exist. no excitement to use certain character since you can just use oda, n u can fight like azai, tokugawa, and everyone. in the past we use certain character because of their weapon and fighting style. i hope next game they changed this, every character has right to wear their own fighting style, even if they use same weapon like katana, spear, or naginata, but fighting style must be different. its no use having like 50 char if half of them using same weapon

Funny thing is Keiji, Mitsunari and Fuma are all present in the Nobunaga era, tho quite young but are still present (as for Fuma the guy himself is a mystery with many myths and legends surrounding him so he could fit in both Nobunaga and post-Nobunaga era). Also Nene too, but since historically she isn't a fighter, i guess Koei decide to retcon her from the new reboot era. Sad indeed.

I'm gonna play this but ... Mitsunari ... Yoshitsugu .. Kanetsugu ... Masamune ... Aya ... they cut ALL my favourites. Also, WHERE'S RANMARU?? He existed in this era!! I'm gonna hope that 1,2, 3, and 4 were all one era and this is the next, with subsequent games focusing on different parts of the sengoku period, rather than a complete reset. It would break my heart of Koei tries to erase the old games and characters from existence. Please, they're my childhood. Also I don't want them to change much. I do like some of the character changes (I prefer this version of Kenshin, for example) but I'm hugely attached to the old cast the way they are!! Why did Oichi have to turn into a baby again?

This takes place well before Date's and Yukimura's time. Ranmaru also was never actually a fighter, just a retainer. He got swapped out for Yasuke, who actually was a warrior that fought in service of Nobunaga

Hanzo without his chain sickle (Kusarigama) is a bit of a disappointment as well, but his new weapons and abilities are still great. It would be nice if we could have had alternative outfits for him, like from the first game and or second in particular, or something even new.

I used to be a Basara 2 player, and now I'm trying to play SW5, and my reaction is like, what? This is very different, the character designs are quite ordinary, and again, Oda Nobunaga is the main character, hahah, it surprised me. I didn't like it in Basara 2, but now I love it in SW5, the story is intriguing.

Oichi went from Kid in SW2 and earlier then lady 3 onwards… now she's back into teen. And then there's the older looking Magoichi for some reason. But yeah, seeing this new roster they look even more anime-like than ever. Which makes me wonder how dw10 will be like if it follows suit.

She was only 35-36 when she died, and that was a few years after the Honnoji incident which is when this game ends. Did you not notice the super young Ieyasu as well? Because he was a young teen when Nobunaga captured him from the Imagawa so that is finally reflected here. As for Magoichi, that was merely the name adopted by the current leader of the Saika mercenaries. There was no one singular Magoichi Saika, so they can do whatever they want with him, even make him a woman (Sengoku Basara).

They are more focused on Nobunaga Era. From the way they start this reboot, I believe SW 6 will be Hideyoshi Toyotomi and the final one is Ieyasu Tokugawa.

Mitsuki, Yasuke, Sena, Sandayu Momochi, Toshimoto Saito, Shikanosuke Yamanaka, and Kazuuji Nakamura are all brand new. On top of that, Nobuyuki Oda, Motonubu Okabe, Katsuyori Takeda, Motoharu Kikkawa, Terumoto Mori, Dosan Saito, Yoshitatsu Saito, Yoshikage Asakura, Yoshiyaki Ashigaka, and Fujihide Mitsubuchi are also all playable "unique" NPC characters. So of the 37 playable characters, literally half of them are brand new or playable for the first time with unique models.

This game only covers Nobunaga's rise and fall. Ginchiyo was part of the Kyushu Campaign which happened much later.

Right orochi has so much more content and guest characters if it had English dub it would be way better tho I’m tired of koei laziness no dub clones not changing movesets just give them a new boring weapon online sucks because u either can’t progress and get characters or u have to beat the stage before you play on story with someone else not be on that stage beat it what’s the point it’s an easy fix do they not realize this people complain they don’t listen finally the difficulty system sucks no point to play on hard when u can play on easy and get the same amount of rewards in sam 5 but like u said warriors games make any other game look terrible I’d rather have a orochi game every time instead of any dynasty samurai games at this point they know orochi is gonna be the best seller so they have to lift a finger for once

@@mrthanos8140 I don't think it's laziness for them not to add dub, it saves money and they would have to hire English voice actors for most, if not every character for ex WO4U has 170 characters. They could pull the cast that voiced DW games, but for samurai warriors, that last one I played that had dub was SW2 empires back on ps2, I didn't play SW3 so I SW4 was the first I played with sub. I mean they already translated to English, and it's possible to not read everything as the battle progresses, but you know what I do? I can read at a decent speed but I also pause the game and check the battle log and look at the conversations... If you aren't a fast reader and don't want to pause to game to read what you missed then I guess you're just sol my guy. I don't know about future DW games but they probably aren't going to go back to dub for SW. However! I will say Nobunaga's English voice up until warriors orochi 2 was very fitting. I hated his voice in WO2 and Hideyoshi's

Ok the shared weapons for a lot of characters was one thing, but why so many generics, couldn't even give them ultimate skills or unique attacks. Just saying as much as I would enjoy the game, those are wasted slots.

@@MatsuKaZa67 Not defending Samurai Warriors 5 having clones but there hasn’t really been many Dynasty or Samurai Warriors games with every character having a NEW unique moveset. The games with the biggest variety of movesets, WO4, SW4 and DW8, all copies movesets from previous games and slightly changed them. Saying SW4 had unique movesets for all character thus SW5 should isn’t really too fair on SW5 since 4 essentially copied moveset from SW3, and only added hyper attacks and new characters movesets.

@@TriAzF reused movesets are fine. I'm pretty sure most if not all samurai characters have the same moveset from their origins game. I know Nobunaga in sw4 has the exact same moveset from sw1 just with a few new things added in. They should have just should have just done that instead of limited them to weapons. I haven't the chance to play SW3, but I can't imagine it being too different from 1&2. DW has had many changes to their combat system. And personal I've always like SW more, because it seemed a bit more advanced than DW, not just swords, spears, and pikes you could also swim and climb latters in SW before it was introduced in DW. Hopeful if they make a SW5XL or Empires, they will give everyone their respective weapon

Honestly loved this variation of the game but I just wished that the characters after Yasuke had their own unique combos. Wouldn’t it make sense for Dosan Saito or Yoshikage Asakura to have their unique combos? Was heavily disappointed that they didn’t.

From what I've seen in the JP version so far (from other uploads on KZbin), there are some additional stages, weapons and horses, as well as a bgm pack with three tracks. Also, the SW1 costumes of Nobunaga and Mitsuhide (that are featured in the video) are DLC costumes. Apart from that, I'm not entirely sure. Except for a season pass, and the confirmation from the games producers (via Siliconera's website) that there won't be any additional characters. Although they did say that if the game does well, then there will be a sequel game (I'm guessing similar to SW4-II).

So where's Keiji? Didn't he serve Nobunaga at one point? At least in Samurai Warriors 1 he did and even in 2 for Yukimura's first mission Keiji betray's Nobunaga from the start. In 1 he was the Lu Bu character of the game until Tadakatsu got an actual character model in XL.

bought the game out of curiosity yesterday. hoo boi. where do I begin? the reduced roster. yeah they added maybe 10 new faces but at the cost of 20 so... that's not even counting the ones that were playable in SoS. it feels a bit like a return to an old habit of redacting toons/battles from the previous game. remember how we never got another map for Azuchi Castle after the first SW? Remember how goemon and kunoichi vanished from the franchise? and then kojiro and musashi did? Remember how Okehazama got reduced to a cutscene for nobunaga before it became a playable level for sw2xl? I will say some characters got some much needed adjustments, such as toshiie noh and hideyoshi as their old moves and weapons sucked. finally nice to see a naginata actually used by a toon that isn't a CaC from the first SW. That said some were also changed for the worse . I.E. why is yoshimoto imagawa who used to be a gag toon suddenly Warhammer welding and acting more like the demon king than the actual demon king? speaking of which why did they decide to make nobunaga more "fool of owari" than "demon king?" is it a throwback to Kessen 3? also his sword is greatly missed.

@@gaidenhexus2081 I've literally studied Nobunaga since I was 14, but thanks for telling me theres something finally worthwhile on Netflix. Unfortunately most documentaries on the Samurai skim over a lot of things, like the real end of the Sengoku Jidai, Hideyoshi's bad ideas in peacetime, etc.

I’m having fun with the game but it has issues and signs of laziness again and I’m getting tired of it because it’s ruining the warriors franchise and pushing potential buyers away no English dub i still have to read anything said and pause if I miss something dw9 even had dub what’s their excuse here? Clones again do they not understand no one wants freaking clones and having two unique moves isn’t enough for me for them to seem different and some characters had way cooler weapons than what they got here. My last issue is there’s only like 10 weapons in the game. Like I said I like the game still but it’s pushing people away by not listening to their complaints because these mistakes have been going on for years and they still don’t fix them and adding paid dlc later to fix their mistakes when they should’ve been there from the start is annoying.

While I haven’t played this game yet I feel that where I enjoyed hyrule warriors and age of calamity and both games managed to have original move sets that were real fun but was severely disappointed where a game like fire emblem warriors had more characters then both of those games yet if memory serves only 10 characters in that game have original move sets while everyone is a clone of each other but with different stats since it’s using fire emblem logic I hope there comes a time where kiwi takes a step back in the right direction I feel their trying to get there but copied move sets is just not the right way but we’ll see what the future holds still going to try out this game tho

I use to feel the same way about clones and Lesser weapons. But the truth is some of these weapons are ridiculous and nowhere near relevance in Japan. Like kagekatsu from SW4 his weapons seem more modern and not historical. Same goes for hayakawa. Then we have back in DW8. Xiahou Ba's siege Spear and Deng ai's spinning lance. They're running out of weapon Ideas which leads to clones and unique movesets. I would rather have clones for a Bigger roster like back In DW8 rather than this game which took a lot of characters out and still has clones.

@@zhugeliang7832 I can respect that I don’t hate clones either nor think that koei is bad for doing what they do but is kinda sad like my comparison with Hw and Fire emblem warriors for me what hurt with that game is we already knew some of the dlc characters in advance but out of the 9 5 we could see in game had copied movesets so I would hope when they come out they would change but only 4 had a original movesets making I feel more impactful with the disappointment for me I still enjoyed the game but out of all the clone DW games felt fire emblem hit hard with it’s if memory serves 40 + characters and only 10 of them have original movesets

@@zhugeliang7832 I mean yea some weapons aren’t historical and new ones can be cool but for me that doesn’t matter because the people are doing magic and taking down thousands of people per level it’s just the people behind it don’t know what to do, are to lazy to make new move-sets for older weapons and cast, don’t have imagination to think of new ones.scrap every new weapon by the next installment and we’ll only see them back in orochi games. I get some people want it to be historically accurate but if u gotta give someone a bobsled to be unique instead of being the 2nd spear wielder (or idk make them use the spear in a different way so we don’t have the exact same animations there was more than one spear at the time right?) it’s fine by me lmao. Also taking away someone’s not accurate but established weapon (zhang hes claws) just to sell them later as dlc shows how much people want unique stuff even if it’s not real. just make sure the story is historically correct Atleast I don’t think samurai warriors 5 is correct in story though it’s reimagined so double loss for me still gonna play but I don’t want the series to just keep going like this because I like it a lot and want it to succeed as much as it can still waiting for dw9 empires and warriors orochi 5 lol

@@ForzeblazeZX yea both hyrule warriors games did it right the first one had so many cool people I got the ultimate edition and calamity had like 10 characters at launch it could’ve used more but that’s all they could get from the botw series so I get it with a few dlc people I didn’t try the dlc also calamity had English voice acting in English finally! and yea when I saw that pushed me away from the fire emblem game because if someone has better stats and they probably work like that than someone with the same weapon it makes the person with worse stats pointless to play. Samurai warriors 5 might be on gamepass on Xbox one if that’s where ur playing that’s where I’m at you’ll still have fun with it for me it’s my first samurai warriors game.
