The red wings are better because of the materials used in its construction. If I'm not mistaken, it's a 360 Goodyear welt into a thick veg tan leather insole with a canvas gemming. The Corcoran boots don't say what the insole is made of, but it's got a junky foam insert, so that says it all.

I personally pick the redwings as well,but the corcorans have a poor on,on top of as leather insole. The leather insole on the corcorans is thinner than the redwings as well. In the future I'm going to resole the corcorans myself and show yall and myself what's inside. Thanks for the comment I always enjoy hearing what you guys have to say! 😁

For price you can’t beat the corcoran’s. They have the quality of 300+ dollar boots for 200, sometimes even cheaper. And will last you years. My dad still has his original Corcoran’s he got in the air force in 1980 and still are in great shape

When I was a kid on the farm everyone had to have those tan moc toe boots.I took out my old jump boots (still in great shape) and went for a walk on sidewalks. The first thing I noticed was that my brain felt like it was jiggling up and down. Those things are hard as a rock! We used to run 4 miles 3 days a week in those!

Yeah they got way better traction then what people give them credit for,I will say they don't last as long as corcorans but they are wayyy more comfortable!

I own both boots, and I totally agree with what you were saying. In my opinion the Corcorans beat out the red wings in looks hands down. And I much prefer the Corcorans for everything except for when I have to do real work. They’re just too pretty to beat up😅. I’m looking at buying Jim Green rough out Vellie Chukkas. I think it my be worth your time to give em a look, exceptional price and a nice rugged look.

My corcorans have a special place in my heart man. I wore em in high-school,I built a building with my grandfather with them on..legit anything you can think of and I've done it in those boots😂. Also I'll for sure give em a look. I'll definitely try to give em a review on my channel if your interested in subscribing but I gotta admit I don't have a crap ton of money like the bigger youtubers have 😂

It’s all good, I’m a little tight on funds too😅, otherwise I’d probably already would’ve bought the vellies. And I’ve been a subscriber since the first jump boot video👍 Keep up the great work!

A think there is Corcoran people and Red wings people :) . I know a man who only wear RW . I'm a Corc people . As you say , dress , work , i love walking in the woods also . 1510 , 1500 , i found a line they produced for only a year , CV 1000 all the same as the 1510 but no stitching on the side ans nails in the soles ( like the 975 ) and the leather is oil tanned ( like RW Iron rangers ) . What's make the difference , for me is the Garrison Army Munson Last that , once tried can not be found any where ( RW did an line , 8011 Munson Ranger , basically quite thje same as the ww2 service shoes type 2 ) . Apologise for my bad English : French :) . keep on goin' like you do ! I like your reviews and videos .

I have not had the redwing but I do have the Corcoran historic brown jump boots and don't consider them to be a good option for heritage boots. Mostly because the leather isn't attractive enough for that and there are some compromises in materials that you simply cannot see. The leather is stiff and uncomfortable, even after stripping the brown coating, re-dying, and all the neatsfoot oil I've given them. They're still stiff and squeak when I walk. I can still get a damn good shine on the toes if I want , so that ugly coating isn't necessary in the civilian world. I would be very very surprised if the footbed isn't fiber board btw, in order to use that very thick leather midsole that I was sure was some kind of manmade material before shaving a corner off it with my pocket knife, theres no way they could still use a leather footbed for the pricepoint.
@hatchedspace52422 жыл бұрын
Maybe they make em different now,mine has never been resoled but it has a leather footbed, leather midsole. The only synthetic is poor on on top of the leather. It's ashame to hear that they make em that way now
@TylerSnyder3052 жыл бұрын
@@hatchedspace5242 I was sure the midsole was some synthetic material because it looks and acted that way when I was stripping the brown coating off the boot. However you prompted me to shave the corner off with my pocket knife and it is definitely leather. It's a very very hard tough leather though. I think what threw me was the plasticky coating on the edge of the midsole, and those rough lines in the bottom of it which made me think it was a manmade material. I now realize that's just where they scratch it with the roughing tool for a better glue bond. Btw there is a plastic midsole under the heel, I checked and that is definitely plastic. It's the heavy coatings on everything that make them seem low quality and unnatural, but they are better than they seem I guess.

@@TylerSnyder305 when I bought mine they was still advertised as made the same way as the original ww2 boots,but I can assure you that the redwings haven't changed since I've bought them. They stay true to the old school method on the 877 moc toes. I got more videos coming up for them! 😁
@TylerSnyder3052 жыл бұрын
@@hatchedspace5242 They didn't say when I bought mine about 2 years ago, but I have to assume they're using a fiberboard type footbed inside these days. If they were still using leather there the cost would definitely have to be more, unless they skip the insole and rely on the thick leather midsole for double duty. Btw they can say made the same way, because that covers construction and not necessarily materials for what it's worth. I won't deny that these are a tough hard wearing boot for sure. They're just not what I'd call nice, good but not nice. Good just works holds up and is a good value, nice has feels and looks more expensive because it is.
