lovely, sad song, so well sung: thanks Reeb. I heard a sad story on the radio today ( in the UK) , about the only remaining tree frog of its kind after an introduced virus had wiped out most of the rainforest frogs in this area. He was taken into a conservation care facility, where he lived out the last of his days. Just before he died he did some calling/croaking/ singing(?). But no mate came forward... The last of his kind. The really sad part of it is that we now have a name for his sort: an endling. When will we wake up and see how much we are screwing up this wonderful world? It still is wonderful despite all the shite going around the place.

A very stark and bleak song. Raw and spare. The setting compliments it all. It all reminds me of the work of artist Andrew Wyeth. He often painted stark, empty interiors with faded Tempera colours. But as I listen to Reeb sing this, my mind goes to probably his most famous piece 'Christina's World'. Sadness, aloneness but a burning beauty.
